Hello everyone! This month's adult book of the month is Becoming Abigail by Chris Abani. Feel free to discuss about what you loved or hated about this book!

Kathy Davie (kathydavie) | 100 comments I don't see it as rushed so much as beautifully encapsulated. The only positive thing I can say about Abigail's life and what she endured is that at least humanity is consistent. And what a crappy thing to say. A family member who should have cared for her. And didn't I just love how Abigail let him know how much she appreciated his support! Such righteous payback!! Then there's the social worker who should have helped her...jeezus... When Abigail finally does get to make a choice of her, the choice is torn from her. Sure, I realize she had no basis for making a good choice. Nor did she have many options, but she finds out that as she fights against the choices others make for her, once she does make a choice, the world fights right back.
