Thanks Paras for organising this group, my suggestion: Stranger to History: A Son's Journey through Islamic Landsa friend recommended it but haven't read it yet, look forward to September's discussion though.
Thanks guys for appreciation.
Interesting suggestions too but how about we wait for a while till more suggestions come through. :)

I have nothing against it. the thing is I get very less time and read very slowly therefore I have to choose my books very carefully and I'd rather read a book that adds up to my wisdom/knowledge than just being driven away with some sentiments.
I guess my last comment didnt get posted :S
I was think we could use poll voting once we have suggestions
@Zeeshan
I understand ur reservations but really not all fiction is sentiments. Its a study. But read what you like most :))

Its not all sentiments, but its mostly like an illustrious world created out of some sentiments, some life created out of some magical words. But I do agree, some fictions are just out of the box and even better than the non-fictions :-).
Poll sounds cool.!

Hi. Can I suggest something. Since this group this reading Three Cups of Tea: One Man's Mission to Promote Peace ... One School at a Time. How about we go ahead and read its critique in oct Three Cups of Deceit: How Greg Mortenson, Humanitarian Hero, Lost His Way along with a fiction reading for oct.
This way, we'll have two books for oct and one can either read both or choose whichever suits them best.

thats a great idea Paras. But let's not decide on to it until the last week of September. Let people come up with more suggestions.
For Oct read, I have put on Three cups of deceit [because its a criticism of sep read] and 7 habit of highly effective people because Zeeshan suggested it
I have a suggestion though, from next month onwards, we choose a member of month to pick a group read.

Start some :)
Soz haven't been posting lately, bit busy, but look forward to discussing 7 habits with people, been working through the work book, all common sense stuff not only helpful for career and in workplace, but also dealing with family issues... iam a big self help book junkie, but most wear off after the initial read, but this one sticks as it offers practical advise and long term plans and how to go the right way about achieving them.

Does anyone know of any good pakistani fiction / non fiction writers thanks.

Also, why're we reading an exposé? :("
pretty much because no one is suggesting anything. Would u like to suggest something for nov? Any genre, that is.

...hey, how about Bossypants by Tina Fey?
Or are we following some sort of pattern in book suggestions?
No we are not. And I know I have read kite runner too but thats a great book and should be read by all.
Btw, we can have a poll too if we get more than one book? I think kite runner should go into the poll.
Ayesha, you sure abt bossy pants or want to suggest another one.
I am liking the idea of bit of fiction over here :P
p.s. did anyone saw kite runner's graphic novel. I just did n I think its wicked awesome

Ah.. Millennium series.. I am meant to read but I havent so far. I would like it. I havent seen the movie cuz I wanted to read it.
For nothing has good rating too.
I would liek to go for the girl with the dragon tattoo if it were on me. I guess its time for poll for atleast this month :)

YES poll it, i hope it'll be an enjoyable read.
Oh also, how does everyone feel about classic literature here? Maybe we could do a classic lit. nomination or something?
I would like to suggest The green mile from stephen king or actually any other book from him thats supposed to be good.

@ Murad
I have heard The Stand is one of his best work.
@ Saad
That's a very good suggestion. I have been meaning to read it but I just don;t. :/

Havent read both by grisham. Guys.. u need to narrow down nominations..
One would go from stephen kind, then saad's and then one could go from grisham so we can have room for another choice if the suggestion turns up soon

my God, did you know, this novel has been adapted in movies, 5 different times, may be more. One of which is this, http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0119683/ , having Liam Neeson and Uma Thurman.

No. I have a copy of it but I've been a bit busy lately:(

ahh well, just wish I could take an off from everything else for a while and only read books. Goodreads is spoiling me (in a good way of course).
