Schlesinger's journal reads really quickly, so the page number isn't much of an obstacle. There are some really good journals out there. I own Sylvia Plath's and Susan Sontag's but they're ..."

And I have Thomas Merton's, Henri Nouwen's, and Lucy Maude Montgomery (author of "Anne of Green Gables") ... there's one you might be interested in - a year of excerpts from journals/diaries in day-by-day format, but I have to do a bit of research first before giving the title. ;o)

Kate (kathrynlouwca) I read a lot of books at a time... Currently I am reading seven books... I don't get confused because most of them are in entirely different genres, which helps with the seperate plots...

message 153: by David (new)

David (canadiandave) I usually read at least 10 concurrently.

David (canadiandave) And luckily, I get books for 6 months because I work at the library, which gives me ample time to read them without getting fines...unless someone puts one on hold.

Kate (kathrynlouwca) I am glad to see that I am not alone... at the beginning of the thread, it seemed as though almost everyone said they can only read one book at a time... I get bored if I only read one at a time...

message 157: by Dionisia (new)

Dionisia (therabidreader) | 332 comments I very rarely read more than one book at a time, unless the additional books are collections of short stories. I love to get absorbed in a good story.

JSou I usually read 2-3 at a time. Only one novel at a time though, since I get too caught up in the story. I read another with my kids every night, then read a little bit of non-fiction as well.

Currently Reading:

The Shadow of the Wind-Carlos Ruiz Zafon
The Graveyard Book-Neil Gaiman
Healing & Preventing Autism-Jenny McCarthy

Kate (kathrynlouwca) I am currently reading:
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (re-read)
Pride & Prejudice & Zombies
Lock & Key (YA)
The Associate (on hiatus, halfway through)
Favorite Wife (auto-biographY)
Sex with Queens (historical)

They are all in very different genres so I think I am able to keep the plot lines seperate... I mean, it is hard to get polgamy set in Mexico mixed up with the magical world of Harry Potter mixed with the history of affairs over the last 900 years... But that is just me!
