Yes! Let it put you off. :p She doesn't need to be getting any more money for poorly written stories that appeal to the teen psyche but don't provide them with examples of correct syntax!

Jessi | 49 comments I absolutely loved this book. The characters were amazingly well written. The storyline twists & turns really surprised me. I for sure want to read the next one in the series.

Really? Not to be mean but I really didn't see any of that. Clary, Simon and Jace all had the same personality and the were massive plot holes.

Didn't you see any of that? (I'm just wondering if I'm asking too much of a book nowadays.)

MaraC | 59 comments I really liked this book. No, I didn't learn anything from it, there was no lesson or meaningful, life changing moments. However, like I said I liked it... Hum, let me see if I can explain. I guess it is what I would call a fun, easy, "throw away" book. I agree that it was fairly predictable but was different enough to keep me interested. (view spoiler) After having just read one book that was very hard to get through and then a book that was exceptional and very emotional (The Book Thief) it was nice to read something lighter (for lack of a better word).

Jessi | 49 comments I did see some plot holes but I just assumed knowing it's a series that that stuff may be filled in later. As far as Clary, Simon, & Jace being the same? I didn't see that at all. Clary was an overly confused teenager, Simon was a stereotypical nerd (and I totally called him being into Clary) & Jace growing up a Shadow hunter was way more mature then teens typically are at his age.

I found it was more continuity issues.

Well they're all overly sarcastic and it felt like they were made to just there and Clare just gave the funny line to whoever was speaking. Maybe it's just me lol.

I have a word for it...I tell my students to call them "kushy" books...books that are not very challenging, but give us enjoyment and a thrill ride without much thought to it...we all need these once and a while.

Ooh, I really like that. I might even start a new bookshelf for myself with that title. :D

I will have to remember that! Kushy! You explained it perfectly. :) I'm glad someone understood my rambling.

i like that! i was enjoying the story too...but i wasn't really trying to enjoy it for the written aspect. i was reading also reading a really intense book for me that i wasn't understanding very well and it was nice to have an easy read during that process. i was just enjoying the moment. it's kinda like watching the movie "airplane!", it's silly, pointless but just fun.

i'll say again, i liked it fine up to (view spoiler)

Alyssa (clarinetto14) | 35 comments I actually really liked this book... after reading a lot of reviews I was skeptical but it was a nice quick read that didn't leave bored half way through so I was impressed by that. I plan on reading the rest of the series but I'm not super excited for it...(view spoiler) Overall I liked this book and would recommend it someone.

Jeshu (jeshusauria) I'm not enjoying this book. I don't like the characters!! I keep thinking that if I knew them in real life, I would hate them with all my heart.

Haha, Jeshu, you're doing better than me! I think I've managed about 30 pages... It's soooo draining and I've got so many (potentially) GOOD books to read that I'm finding it hard to sit down with it.
