Loved it - the film didn't do it justice - bad choice of actors!

Friends that saw the movie with me had not read the book and were pretty much thumbs down about the whole thing.
I hated this book. I found the main characters incredibly unlikeable. In the end I just didn't care.

I wonder if I should watch the movie, given that those that liked the book didn't seem to like it much. :)

I also enjoyed this book. I didn't know there was a movie. Although based on the previous few reviews, I'll probably pass on it :)I'd love to hear other people's opinions about the book's end. I'll say nothing more than that in this post, to avoid spoiling anything.

Hello! In my opinion, the actors were chosen for anything related to the protagonists. Needed another writer and director who understood the complexity of the novel, which has a simple read, but a very complicated story.

I agree with what you're saying about the complexity of the novel. For example: all the layers of love shared imperfectly between the characters.

I completely agree with you Caroline. It is a relationship unusual these days. Maybe not very rare in the real world. Of course, very different from some "literature", cinema, and what make us think the media. In advertising: all in love and happy!
Perhaps that's the key difference between literary fiction and commercial fiction. I must confess, my favorite novels are a combination of both. I like a great plot, which is often found in commercial fiction, but I also like rich, deep characters.

Because the characters were hollow and flat, I really disliked this book. There were too many descriptions of motives and reasons, rather than demonstrations.

Every time I see anything about this book, I can't help but think, "Wa-hey!" -- isn't that what the annoying girl always said in greeting? Obnoxious.
I caught the movie packing up my hotel room after a week long conference. I could not get the movie out of my head so I had to read the book. I am a fan of both.
Haven't watched the movie yet as I find that they don't do justice to the books but the book was okay. It kept dragging on with the "I love her but I'd rather sleep with a 1000 other women" and "I've got to try and not let him know what I'm feeling". But other than that, an okay book.
I know I could not put it down and I read it in an afternoon (did not realize it was so short), so I really can´t say if I liked it or not. I did think at the end, why one day then read the synopsis and realized why.........will watch the movie and see..
HATED this book. Absolutely detested it. The female lead only exists to fulfill the needs and longings of the male lead - to be an object of his desire or a foil for his plans. Absolutely detestable.
