Got any science questions?
Need help revising for your latest science test?
You're in the right place to ask!

message 2: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm not.
But, I'm making a movie with Laura and two other friends on photosynthesis...

message 3: by [deleted user] (new)

Cool!
Your photosynthesis pic a basic intro to your dislike of it?

message 4: by [deleted user] (new)

Eh?

message 5: by [deleted user] (new)

You know... The one you posted?

message 6: by [deleted user] (new)

Okay, so I have a question...
Can you find the acceleration of an object if all you are given is the weight of the object and the amount of newtons the ground hits back with?

message 7: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah, the one I posted.
And I think so, yes.

message 8: by [deleted user] (new)

How?

Tash (sixteeen) Hannie wrote: "Okay, so I have a question...

in vertical motion, the acceleration = g = 9.8 m/s^2
:)

message 10: by [deleted user] (new)

I don't get any of this.
:)

message 11: by Tash (last edited Aug 28, 2011 05:20AM) (new)

Tash (sixteeen) It's a constant. If the object is falling, where ever you are in Earth, it's acceleration is 9.8 m/s^2. :)

message 12: by [deleted user] (new)

I read somewhere that you would need to have it as weight/mass, to find the acceleration of an object falling due to gravity...
9.8 m/s^2 would need to be multiplied by mass for weight force or something along those lines...

message 13: by [deleted user] (new)

Well, it depends...
Air resistance could have a factor in the acceleration of something...

message 14: by Tash (new)

Tash (sixteeen) Second law of Newton states that

Force= Mass x Acceleration

(f=ma)

Since the object is free-falling, it's gonna be

f=mg

Weight = Force

Am I making sense? XD

message 15: by [deleted user] (new)

That makes perfect sense!
Thanks!

message 16: by Tash (new)

Tash (sixteeen) Usually, air resistance is neglected. :)

message 17: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh, okay...

You're welcome. :) Happy to help.

(It's weird I still remember these stuff. I almost failed my physics class last year. XD)

message 19: by [deleted user] (new)

First time I'm doing physics...

message 20: by Tash (new)

Tash (sixteeen) Took it junior year. Taking Physics-B (Thermodynamics and stuff) Right now. :)

message 21: by [deleted user] (new)

Wow!

message 22: by Tash (new)

Tash (sixteeen) Well, I'm kinda required. XD In my country, we don't get to pick the classes we have in high school. Except for the electives of course, I took French there. :D

message 23: by [deleted user] (new)

What country?
I know physics is mandatory in Spain....

message 24: by Tash (new)

Tash (sixteeen) Philippines. :)

In regular Philippine School, Science subjects are (1hr per day):
1st year: General Science
2nd: Biology
3rd: Chemistry
4th: Physics

But my school is a state high so we have a super advance curriculum, yeah I have two science subjects per day (1hr each per day):
1st: Earth Science & General Science
2nd: Basic Biology (Botany) & Advance Biology
3rd: Chemistry I & Physics A
4th: Chemistry II & Physics B

>_<

message 25: by [deleted user] (new)

Whoa...

message 26: by [deleted user] (new)

I have four lessons a day...

message 27: by [deleted user] (new)

I have six.

message 28: by [deleted user] (new)

Two of those Drama or Acting For The Camera or Ceramics or French.

message 29: by [deleted user] (new)

Well...
Do you really want to know all the classes I have each day?

message 30: by Tash (new)

Tash (sixteeen) Science or other subjects too?

message 31: by [deleted user] (new)

I have science 4 periods a week.

message 32: by [deleted user] (new)

Yes, but those above are my electives...

message 33: by [deleted user] (new)

AND FROM NEXT YEAR I'LL BE DOING AVIATION!!!!!

WOO!!

message 34: by Tash (new)

Tash (sixteeen) I take two science subjects per day. five times a week. XD

message 35: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm taking biology next year...

message 36: by [deleted user] (new)

Did y'all just ignore my.

message 37: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm happy for you.

message 38: by [deleted user] (new)

SO AM I!
I'M SO FUCKING EXCITED!

message 39: by [deleted user] (new)

Wait, I'm doing it this year too...
:/

message 40: by [deleted user] (new)

You're excited about it all the time....

message 41: by [deleted user] (new)

I KNOW!

AND IM BOOKING OUT TICKETS TO FLY BACK TO SOUTH AFRICA IN DECEMBER TOO!!

message 42: by [deleted user] (new)

Youre not flying the plane to SA yourself, right?

message 43: by [deleted user] (new)

Nope!

Qantas Premium Economy at least.
:-)

message 44: by [deleted user] (new)

Cool!
I'm going to BD in January...
Or December...
I don't know...

message 45: by [deleted user] (new)

BD!!!!
Actually, isn't it really dirty?

message 46: by [deleted user] (new)

It is...
But I'm going there for the family and not for the lack of fresh air!

message 47: by Fatimah (new)

Fatimah | 44 comments i love science in general....but my latest "report card" showed hw much i truly care!

i only passed over the 90s for bio. physics and chemistry i got in the early 80s..i think! now this year ill have to try harder(which i suck at)!

BlackroseBlackheart Ever since I was 5, I really wanted to win the Nobel Peace Prize. I love chemistry, and I want to find a cure for cancer or AIDS when I'm older. Right now, I just want to ace my 12 science exams. It sucks to be a smartass sometimes... ;(

message 49: by [deleted user] (new)

I got that 98% in my physics test!

message 50: by Mansi (new)

Mansi (DevilRebel62) :O PHYSICS IS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HARD!
UGH I'M GOING TO TENTH GRADE AND I HAVE TO TAKE IT!
NOOOOO
ugh

oh yea, CONGRATS ON THE 98%!
