this is the 5th book and rand still hasn't become a man, he lets every female character bully him around. The only person that stands up for themselves is Mat!!!!!!!!

Lord of Chaos is a great book, you start to see them grow up and change a bit in it (in my opinion) its not until the next book that you really see the impact/differances.
I see what u meanI loved Rands reaction to Verin and Alanna after he was bonded
Cold and threatening!!
I hope he keeps it up
I know! He does, he ends up changing sooo much, I like how his relationships get more complex too. I can't say too much or I might spoil it :x lol
I'm now impatiently waiting the final book. I used to get annoyed with Rand for not telling the women who boss him about to get lost but he does change and not in the way I expected which was great.
Keep reading - the men finally do 'man it up' - thank god! I'm all for strong female characters, but the women (bar Min) all seemed to be REALLY annoying!!!
most ennoying to me was Cadsuane, who thinks that spanking adult men are the only cure on how to make them behave. No one talks to any one and tells them what they are going to do. So many things are annoying I can't begin, but these characters do evolve and the books are my favorites. I have tons of information maps and images of characters if any want... Lspider2@msn
The characters change a lot... I think the pace Jordan has chosen is so close to real life that one sometimes forgets it's a book... the story, the characters, the situations, the interactions are very very life like...

I agree with this to an extent. I felt that given the characters' personalities, their interactions were genuine, but I think a lot of characteristic's were cliched. The women are always stubborn. The men are always confused by the women, the characters rarely tell each other what their true emotions are, etc.

I largely agree to what you say about the characters. Yet, lets just sit back and think once again. Aren't all guys confused about women (sayings like, 'God created women and not even he can understand them', came into existence because of a reason right!)
And the women being stubborn. Well aren't all humans stubborn? Men in their own ways, women in theirs!!!
JUST A THOUGHT :)
Yes, I think in a generalized way, women can be stubborn in their own ways and men can be "thick" about women, but it frustrated me that every male and female characters had these same traits, when in reality, there is more diversity in personality than Robert Jordan presents. That being said, it's a minor flaw in my view, and I can easily overlook it.
