I read Justice Society of America #54 this morning, which is the last issue of the series, and maybe the last JSA comic ever. Jerry Ordway was selected as the artist, and DC gets points for that. Ordway has been the premier artist for these Golden Age characters since All-Star Squadron in the early eighties.

The story? Big fight scene, culminating in the death of a very, very, very old and revered character. I'd have preferred an issue of the characters sitting on the porch telling stories about their exploits over a few beers. It didn't ever seem during Marc Guggenheim's run that he had any great love or respect for these characters. It seemed like it was just a gig for him.

Since DC has said that in DCnu, Superman will have been the first superhero, the future, if any, of these WWII generation heroes looks dim. But I really hope DC at some point realizes they've thrown the baby out with the bathwater and reinstates them.

Note on this forum: I think the multiplicity of threads and sections on this forum will result in a lot less cross-pollination and opened minds. Comics fans are notoriously partisans of one company or style to the exclusion of all others. By breaking it down into all these subtopics, Marvel fans will talk only about Marvel, and theoretically not be exposed to opinions about other great stuff that they might otherwise be exposed to.

John Arthur Beaman | 7 comments It would be nice to have a spot where members can let everyone know they put a quiz together that centers around graphic novels/comic books. And it might encourage more quizes on the subject.

Sérgio | 460 comments Hi John.

It's a very good idea. It's true that there aren't many quizes about graphic novels/comic books in goodreads.

If you want you can start it yourself. Any member in this group can start threads if they wish to.

I guess you can put it in the general discussion folder, since it's comics-related.

I created one because your idea was so appealing. I hope you don't mind. :-)

Melki Paul - on the home page, across from Discussion Board you will see topics. Click on "new". Choose a title for your topic, then click on "folder" and choose the appropriate one. You'll also need to put a few word in the comment section before posting.
