I have a theory that calories taste nice and that's why things like cream cakes, cheese and chips taste so good. You never get the same rush from lettuce!

If you liked that theory try this one: That people are always in a bad mood because their on a diet! I think if someone's being aggressive they should be given chocolate. Works every time for me!
My mum is on a diet! (: She's not too bad really, but she's creative with food. She's done homemade curry for dinner (as well as a veggie version for me) and is having wholegrain rice with hers.My grandma on the other hand.. she gets really grumpy when she diets! It's always "what's the point if I can't eat anything tasty?!" (:
I agree with her, I'm on a diet (what woman isn't?) but my motto with regard to diets is: life isn't worth living if you can't cheat!
My mum is usually really good with her diet! She gets the odd moment though where she invents rules... "Broken biscuits don't count!" and "It hasn't got any calories in it if it's off your plate!" are two of my favourites (:
I know, the funny thing is that while I'm passing on these pearls of wisdom guess what I'm doing? Biscuits! I've been making Biscuits ALL DAY!!!
Good question Katy. Can we all have some Dee Dee?We're doing the the Fusion of Food thing here this weekend. Something we do every year. Used to be a lot more fun when we had lots of expats though.
I'm pretending to be Welsh and making Bara B'rith. Not excited about it so not putting on much effort this year.
I wanted to do Welsh cakes but my friend who is actually Welsh is doing them. She's borrowed my bake-stone though.I would have done cockles and laverbread on toast had I thought to bring a load back. Oh well.
Now I'm craving Welsh rarebit.
Aww, okay (:I don't speak fluently, but I have a GCSE in it, haha. I don't speak Welsh very often, but my brother does (he's 5 and learns it at school). He walks in the front door and says "Wedi Blino!" (I'm tired) (:
I have another recipe, has anyone tried custard kisses before, they're biscuits.125g of butter
2/3 cup caster sugar
2 egg yolk
2 teaspoons of vanilla essence
1/2 cup custard powder
1 cup of plain flour
1 cup self raising flour
and milk to bind it together
You fill them with a vanilla butter icing, they're my Uncles favorite bickys.
Hey! I said we can speak welsh! S4C is pushing it! haha. (Although I have been on it once.. making my 'rugby union baguette'!)
My uncle is a rugby player (as was my grandpa) so it was a really odd baguette! The baguette was supposed to represent a rugby ball.. It had 6 slices cut into it, one for each of the six nations (Wales, Ireland, Scotland, England, France and Italy). Each slice had food from that country!
Wales - Leek and Caerphilly cheese
Ireland - Potato salad and Ham
Scotland - Smoked Salmon and Lemon Mayonaise
England - Cheddar cheese and Pickle
France - Brie and Grape
Italy - Mozzarella and Tomato
I made little national flags for each country and attached them to toothpicks to identify which slice went with which country, too!
(Please remember that I was only around 7 or 8.. haha)
That's brilliant! We should do something like that for the world cup!
Bet you were cute as the dickens on telly, too!
I didn't eat it because I'm vegetarian. I gave it to my uncle though, and he thought it was great! I remember making the little flags for the toothpicks and covering them in PVA glue to make them shiny! (I've always been very into arty things)
Hey Katy, I use to be a vegetarian (when we had the BSE scare and for a few years after). I can clearly remember really looking forward to BBQ's at other peoples houses where I could sneak a few sausages when my mum was looking the other way! Sigh.... I wasn't a very good vegetarian.
I've been vegetarian for most of my life, D.d. I've never liked eating meat; the only thing I used to eat was chicken nuggets from Mcdonalds! Unfortunately, I'm a vegetarian who doesn't like mushrooms!
I know you have moved on but is calorie offsetting like carbon offsetting. If I can find someone to eat salad for me I can still eat meat?
Katy, how can you not like mushrooms? I've rarely come across a food I didn't like, but I hate hate hate lentils.
Hold up Simon, you're telling me I can eat cake and get someone else to eat the lettuce?!? This keeps getting better and better!
Mushrooms are the devils food! So are banana's for that matter...Simon, that can go under our list of 'excuses', haha. I'm sure my grandma eats enough salad for the country to keep eating meat!
Katy, what is your stance on cakes? Can I use your grandmothers Lettuce offset or will you be keeping it for yourself?
Katy wrote: "They're soya, aren't they? I've just never liked the taste or the texture of meat (:"I worked in a poultry plant when I was a student, Katy. I saw what went into nuggets. It was chicken. It just wasn't meat.
I don't even like the smell when I go past a mcdonalds.
Think I'll make a cheesecake tomorrow. Salad for Dave.
Jay-me, can I have your lettuce offset to? If it keeps going like this I won't ever have to diet again.
D.d. wrote: "Jay-me, can I have your lettuce offset to? If it keeps going like this I won't ever have to diet again."You're welcome as long as I can still have caramel wafers :)
Okay, Patti. Thank you (: I'm scared of chickens.. Simon, deal. Only if they're home grown though!(:
I've tried eating salad a few times but I just can't stand it.Why do I only like really fattening things? It's not fair...*stamps feet*
I tell you what, Simon. You can drink for me! (I don't drink at all, next year i'll be a student though so that should do you!)
I am willing to swap: Beer, Peppers, Cucumber, Spinach, Letuce, Anchovies, Corned beef and Tongue, for basically anything in the way of cake, biscuits and chocolate. Oh and Ice cream. Anyone in a healthy mood?
D.d. wrote: "Jay-me, I have an aunt called Janet, I named Jan,one of the characters in my book after her."Ill add that one to my list :)
Simon - Wensleydale Cheese please....I'll send beer from the brewery down the road
