Well I have now finished this tortuous book which and the last few chapters finally had a bloody story to tell. A very interesting one actually. It was the only time I was able to turn the pages at a fairly decent pace. I have to admit I nearly gave up reading it again somewhere in the late chapter 30s when a Pedeophile was introduced whose actions and thoughts were described with very sickening details. What is wrong with this author? As it turns out this sick character becomes pivotal the final plot.

The whole time paradox intracy appears to be quite cleverly thought out and potentially could have been enourmous fun and I actually like the ending, it was pretty funny. What a shame this book is filled to the brim with filth, pedophiles, obsessions with shared genes sex and woman's breast size.

Glad this is all over. I desperately need to read a childrens book now to cleanse all that filth.

For me, the last 12 chapters were well worth trudging through the rather dull middle section of this book. Once I got to Chapter 50, the book became a real page-turner for me. I read the rest of the book in one sitting. And I found the ending to be very satisfying even though it is not a very happy ending.

I do agree with Tej and others that the sex does seem to be overdone in this book. However, since this book is written in the first person I think the exagerated sexual content is a reflection of the main character and what is ultimately most important to him. And while he is not above sleeping with his own ancestors, I was pleased to see how repulsed he is by the acts of the pedophile he witnesses.

Overall, I enjoyed this book depsite it's R rating. I think I would have enjoyed it more if it had been edited down to a PG-13 and if the pages and pages of Byzantine historical content had been trimmed down.
