Still extremely confused! Yes or no: put the series in the book title?

For example, Once Upon a Time in the North, is a novella in the His Dark Materials series. The title does not reflect this and if you search for "His Dark Materials" it doesn't not come up in the search results.
It's not required, but it's also not a bad thing as it does help people find series through search.
Personally, I'm still putting series in the title.

I no longer add the series info to the titles of all editions or to every series I see, but I do add it to the books on my shelves and to books on the shelves of my groups. I will add it when requested as well.

Some people will add, others don't since eventually once series information is available on more pages - it will probably be removed from the title field.

I think it is useful information. I didn't know that there was a plan for adding a field for "series". But, as far as I read, it is not a reality yet, is it?

And from what I understand, the first discussion clearly states not to put the series & numbering in the book title (at least for adding new books - apparently titles that already have the series in them should be left alone).
And yet this comment in the second discussion states to leave it in. I'm guessing this means existing books that already have the series in their titles should be left alone. But does this also apply in creating books? Should I put the series & numbering in the title or not? (this post in the third discussion encourages it)
What is the correct protocol here? Any help in clearing this out is really appreciated. I just edited the City of a Hundred Rows trilogy to have the series in each title for each edition for every book and I'm wondering if I just made a huge mistake :/
ETA: One more thing. Apparently it's more acceptable to put the series in the title of the default book (the one that shows up in searches), and leaving the other editions with no series in the title. That's all good and hunky dory, but when any edition except the default is added to a user's bookshelf, the series doesn't show up in the title when viewing the bookshelf, even when the series is added to the book details. Wouldn't it be more correct then to add the series to all titles of all editions, in order for it to appear on the bookshelf?
