Lorraine Versini (lorraineversini) | 8438 comments How does that make a writer feel, when you've typed the final words... is it relief? is it sadness? is it worry because you've still got to go through it all again to do the editing?

message 702: by M.A. (new)

M.A. Comley (melcom) All of the above for me Lorraine. I actually like the editing process. The first half is already edited as I worked on some other projects and had to recap the book before I continued writing it.

I'm a little apprehensive about working with a new editor, though she's meant to be the best around!

But I'm really excited because I've already started making notes on another book. Plus I'm very sad that this will be the last Justice book. It's time to leave Lorne and... oops can't tell you that! lol

message 703: by Katy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Katy | 2662 comments Mel, you need to hurry up and finish the next book! ;) I'm so impatient!

Glad to hear everything's going well at the moment (:

message 704: by M.A. (new)

M.A. Comley (melcom) Thanks Katy, you're just eager to see your staring role! lol ;-) xx

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Oh Mel, what fantastic news!

So....how about a wee blurb then?

message 706: by Katy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Katy | 2662 comments I am! I think we should get a little peek... ;) xx

message 707: by M.A. (new)

M.A. Comley (melcom) I promise in a few days, my brain is frazzled and I need to put it aside and out of my mind for a couple of days.

Katy congratulations on using the right peek there, I'm not being condescending honest. It's surprising how many books I've read where writers have got it wrong and put peak! lol

M.A. Comley (melcom) Just noticed a great review on my doggy book. ;-)

This review is from: It's A Dog's Life (A DI Lorne Simpkins novelette) (Kindle Edition)
Wow! What an eye-opening story. It's just horrible to know how those poor greyhounds are treated, especially at the "end" of their career. This was a very moving and fast-paced story. I would highly recommend it.

message 709: by Katy (last edited Mar 15, 2012 11:40AM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Katy | 2662 comments I understand needing to get things out of your mind for a while (: I'm like that with university at the moment!

Thanks for noticing! (: xx
I always feel happy when people recognise I am a young person that can actually use the English language properly!
The other day I saw someone write "no weigh!"...(as in no way) I felt like crying inside, haha

Congrats on the amazing review! (:

message 710: by M.A. (new)

M.A. Comley (melcom) That's insane! LOL

I know we all write quickly sometimes and our brain switches off but even so... ;-)

Thank you for the congrats, I'm so pleased the doggie book is doing well. The paperback is coming out soon too so Sheila will be able to raise more money in the UK for the charity. ;-)

M.A. Comley (melcom) I have an interview with Jan Ruth on my blog today!

message 712: by M.A. (new)

M.A. Comley (melcom) I'm having a fab week with fans contacting me daily on either twitter or Facebook about my work!

It's really lovely getting feedback from people who've enjoyed your novels.

Here's my latest FB message.

Hi Mel, After reading the first of the Lorne series I had to buy the second one and read it in a day, it was fantastic and had to buy the third and started reading it last night. Great books , well done to you!!

Made my weekend anyway. ;-)

message 713: by M.A. (new)

M.A. Comley (melcom) Starting the edits on book four today!

Wish me luck. ;-)

Lorraine Versini (lorraineversini) | 8438 comments :)

Was thinking how easily I got sucked into Impeding Justice this afternoon, it's just awesome ! You lady do know how to start a book with a big bang ! (albeit a sad one)

message 717: by Kate (new)

Kate (littlekate1) | 574 comments I read one of your short stries last night Mel (Passion, Fire and Fury) and it was just as good as Impeding Justice. I'm working backwards a bit and have got Cruel Justice to read next but am saving it until I have a spare day as just know I won't want to put it down.

message 718: by M.A. (new)

M.A. Comley (melcom) Bless you guys! You've made my day.

I've really done well with the editing today, let's hope this book is as good as the others, reading good so far... ;-)

message 719: by Lorraine (new)

Lorraine Versini (lorraineversini) | 8438 comments Is it the one I saw a chapter from?

message 720: by M.A. (new)

M.A. Comley (melcom) yes! Tweaked a little but yes! ;-)

message 721: by Lorraine (new)

Lorraine Versini (lorraineversini) | 8438 comments Ooh yeah !

message 722: by Kate (new)

Kate (littlekate1) | 574 comments Mel, do you have paper copies of any of your books?

message 723: by M.A. (new)

M.A. Comley (melcom) Yes, Kate> All three paperbacks are available on Amazon. Look on the books page and you have the kindle option or the paperback option. ;-)

message 724: by Linda (new)

Linda Prather | 17 comments Mel, I truly loved Impeding Justice. I'm somewhat like Simon though in romance not being my favorite genre. I'm getting ready to start Cruel Justice and looking forward to it.

message 725: by Kate (new)

Kate (littlekate1) | 574 comments Mel, thats made my day :)

message 726: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Maybe Mel could post you a signed bookplate or something so you'd have autographed copies...

Just a thought.

message 727: by Kate (new)

Kate (littlekate1) | 574 comments Now that would just make me get very giddy and excitable... Or as a dear friend of mine says (refering to joys of motherhood and weakened muscle control) 'I'd be so excited, I'd wee!' ;b

message 728: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments One of the joys of being in the group is being able to sort out things like that Kate. :)

I'm slowly building my library of signed books by our authors. I love it.

message 729: by Kate (new)

Kate (littlekate1) | 574 comments I love this group more and more... :)

message 730: by M.A. (last edited Mar 23, 2012 01:16AM) (new)

M.A. Comley (melcom) Gosh, thanks ladies. Kate, was that little five star from you on IJ? Thank you if it was.

Crikey, Patti I wouldn't know where to start with the autograph thingy! :-)

Linda thank you for the fab reviews on both IJ and CJ, I'm so glad you liked them. x

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Pqtti! Lovely :)

Hey I could do autographed bookplates - if anyone was interested that is....

message 732: by Lorraine (new)

Lorraine Versini (lorraineversini) | 8438 comments Good old French keyboard :) there's going to be loads of them when I'm in France for the holidays :)

message 733: by M.A. (new)

M.A. Comley (melcom) yeah it's going to be tiresome over the next few weeks, the laptop is AZERTY and the PC is QWERTY!!!

GL can I get back to you next week on that please? Would love to explore the possibility.

message 734: by Lorraine (new)

Lorraine Versini (lorraineversini) | 8438 comments Is there a way of changing the keyboard? I know that sometimes you can do something on windows that will allow you to use the US keyboard instead of the french one ~(even though the letters obviously stay the same on the keys), but I don't know how to do it :( Might be worth asking Geoff

message 735: by M.A. (new)

M.A. Comley (melcom) Bless, I think I'm going to get another keyboard for the PC as I've kind of got used to the French keyboard now!

Never thought I'd say that. But I write the books on the lappie and do everything else on the PC but the letters are wearing off that keyboard so it's an ideal time to change it. x

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments I'm sure Geoff would know Lorraine - I have a vague idea that you can but don't quite know how.

Mel - sure. That would work well for people who live outside the UK and can't do signings. You can get lovely bookplates quite easily. I have a huge collection of stickers of all kinds so I could certainly find something to use for that.

I had that problem too - I got a keyboard where the letters are transparent and there is a small light under the keyboard... was about 40 quid but it doesn't wear off (was a birthday present from and for hubby lol - he was fed up he couldn't see the keys on my computer... wasn't bothering me but obviously was quite problematic for him !)

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments I have lost the N O and T from my keyboard at home. Makes it hard to type NOT.

Kate (littlekate1) | 574 comments M wrote: "Gosh, thanks ladies. Kate, was that little five star from you on IJ? Thank you if it was...

It was, I realised I'd not put the review on Amazon which seems to be where they are most useful. I hadn't done Stuart Ayris' either, so sorted them yesterday. Sorry for the delay.

message 740: by M.A. (new)

M.A. Comley (melcom) That's a great idea, Lorraine thanks for the tip.

Thanks Kate you are sweet.

Hmmm.... NOT a lot we can say about that GL!

Can't believe it only 14 pages to go on book four before I send it to the editor!

Next job on the agenda finding a house! /:-)

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments A house sounds like a good idea. Are there many available in your area?

message 742: by M.A. (new)

M.A. Comley (melcom) I hope so if not we'll have to search elsewhere! ;-(

message 743: by Lorraine (new)

Lorraine Versini (lorraineversini) | 8438 comments You need to find a biiiiig house Mel, because you're going to have one hell of a housewarming party ! X

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Housewarming? That sounds like a good idea :)

message 745: by M.A. (new)

M.A. Comley (melcom) Haha! We we're actually thinking of downsizing. Saw a cute little cottage out in the country with a little orchard on the net yesterday but the agents are so slow to respond over here!

Will be out and about this week trying hard to find something. ;-)

message 746: by Lorraine (new)

Lorraine Versini (lorraineversini) | 8438 comments Good luck Mel x

message 747: by Kate (new)

Kate (littlekate1) | 574 comments I'm glad I left Cruel Justice to read until the weekend, the kindle glued itself to my hands. Why is Lorne with such a selfish husband? It is really frustrating having read I.J before C.J because I know what happens to certain charaters before having been romanced by them. Your writting style has me hooked, looking forward to having delivery of the paper copies to be re-read before showing them off on my bookcase :D

message 748: by Kate (new)

Kate (littlekate1) | 574 comments ps good luck with the housse hunting

Philip (sarah) Willis | 4630 comments A gazebo in the orchard will do just fine Mel.
Hope your house search goes well.

message 750: by M.A. (new)

M.A. Comley (melcom) Kate you're so sweet. I've just come in from weeding the garden to find your wonderful review. I have tears in my eyes now because of your kindness. xx

Now that's a thought Sarah! Hmmm...
