What should be done about them?

Go through them, book by book, and make corrections to the right authors, as needed. Some may be valid, but I'd at least merge them under one of the profiles. No need to have four versions. Might actually be easier to do that, first, then go through book by book.

Please use caution with the Great Illustrated Classics. These books have adapters that should be listed as the primary author. Please see the examples below.

These adapters are not listed on the cover. I have had to look them up on Worldcat, or use copies I own. I have put A LOT of time into separating these out from the classics on which they were based. Searching through 600+ editions of Wizard of Oz and 650+ editions of Hound of the Baskervilles to separate out all the adaptations (including the Great Illustrated Classics) was a very loooong tedious task.
