Vasha7 | 84 comments This entry for "I Know What You Need" contains an image of a movie poster and absolutely no other info (incl. no ISBN) to indicate that it's a book not a movie. And yet four people added it. Huh?

Seems like a candidate for deletion. But I'd like to know what those people thought they were adding; S. King does have a story by that title, but not published separately.

Merged into the collection it was published as part of.

message 5: by Vasha7 (new)

Vasha7 | 84 comments I found another Stephen King item that seems to be just a story: Jerusalem's Lot. Please merge it with Night Shift. Thanks.

message 6: by [deleted user] (new)

Got 6.

No problem :)

message 7: by Vasha7 (new)

Vasha7 | 84 comments Actually, I meant merge it completely with one of the editions of Night Shift, thus deleting it; because it is just a story, not a book, never published independently.

message 20: by Katie (new)

Katie (garnetofeden) | 22 comments There's a chance I could be wrong and just looking in the wrong places, but when I search for the ISBN numbers listed with this book, nothing comes up. I thought I should check if there is another place to search for ISBN numbers other than WorldCat or Amazon.

message 21: by Melody (new)

Melody (runningtune) | 13300 comments Got 22.

message 22: by Jessica (new)

Jessica | 963 comments Brenda, someone else got yours. Katie, the edition you pointed out is an ebook - it wouldn't come up on worldcat or amazon because (1) worldcat doesn't list ebooks (that I know of) and (2) amazon won't list ebooks other than their Kindle editions. Although I couldn't find it on a search on B&N, all the info came from B&N and it looks like a legitimate edition.

message 23: by Chuck (new)

Chuck | 51 comments in reference to 21, I searched all the different sources I know of and came up with 0 results for those ISBN's the book may be valid, but it does not seem to have that ISBN based on an internet search.

message 28: by Katie (new)

Katie (garnetofeden) | 22 comments So there's not really a way to validate ISBN numbers, so as long as it has one, don't delete? Just trying to make sure I have that right for the future.

Chuck | 51 comments Katie wrote: "So there's not really a way to validate ISBN numbers, so as long as it has one, don't delete? Just trying to make sure I have that right for the future."

I was also personally wondering about keeping the ISBN or not as well, I suppose since it does not conflict with a different book it could stay, but I did remove another a few days ago as it was not even a valid ISBN

message 30: by Jessica (new)

Jessica | 963 comments In this case since it came from B&N at one point it was legitimate. If it comes from them or amazon I'd leave them. If they are user added with an ISBN, post it here just in case.

I'd have to go on a limb as it has been a few days, but I'm pretty sure it was either the library of congress site, or Wikipedia BookSources, that spat out a result similar to this - "The given ISBN does not appear to be valid; check for errors copying from the original source?" (which I pulled as an example from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:...)

This was while cleaning out the wikipedia.com author page, the book was in Arabic and the number was not on B&N or Amazon either.

Sana (sanashams) | 76 comments Cheating at Solitaire needs to be deleted. The author has only written two books to date and the book this link includes the synopsis of his book titled A Case of Exploding Mangoes and a fake book cover and title. I also crosschecked the ISBN and they match A Case of Exploding Mangoes.

I would be especially careful with ISBN's from non-English-speaking countries, as the error is more likely to be the publisher's (and therefore the book really does have that ISBN).

I updated the book to A Case of Exploding Mangoes. As the B&N site now has it listed as such, it looks like there was an error on B&N's part.

No need to delete it.

reverted the ISBN removal just in care, it can always be removed again if needed

message 40: by Vicky (new)

Vicky (librovert) | 2462 comments ISBN10 Only: http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/12...

needs to be merged into the ISBN13 only edition which is the most popular.

I also think this ISBN-less eBook edition can be merged into this eBook edition.

message 41: by Vicky (new)

Vicky (librovert) | 2462 comments http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/65... can be merged into the most popular ed.

Got it. It wasn't a placeholder though, looks like someone just couldn't spell "exorcist" and added it as a new book.

message 43: by Vicky (new)

Vicky (librovert) | 2462 comments Most popular edition has ISBN13 in the ISBN10 slot... this is the correct version.
