Cindy (cynx) | 505 comments You are a great mom Shellbelle! And yes, your daughter is very dedicated, you must be proud! =)

Tegan (therowdylibrarian) She started when she was 11? Wow. And the fact that she researched it and everything, that's awesome. I couldn't do it. I get where people that do it are coming from, but I couldn't do it. Your body needs what it gets from each food group. My friend that has been a vegetarian for a long time told me the other day out of nowhere she got a horrible craving for chicken. She was like "Why haven't I been eating this?!" She felt guilty afterwards though. She'll have to figure out what to do. lol. I'm lucky that my mom was pretty good about my eating habits. There are things that I've just never liked and I'm fairly picky compared to other people. I think it was the fact that for the most part I was willing to try what she asked me to and if I really didn't like it, she knew. Most of the time whatever she made was able to incorporate all of us (there's only 3 of us total, so not too hard). There are two things no matter how hard I try like, I can't: hamburgers and fish/seafood.

Hannah | 468 comments The boyfriend's mother attempted to show me how to make stuffed chicken and that did not go well at all. LOL

message 54: by Tegan (new)

Tegan (therowdylibrarian) Hahaha. I would love to learn how!

message 55: by Hannah (new)

Hannah | 468 comments It's gross! I don't know how anyone can stuff a chicken or turkey. LOL She made 20 stuffed breasts and 2 stuffed chickens, meanwhile I'm all "Ew.." lol I still have a ways to go but damn, it was good.

We made chicken crescent rolls. Yum!

message 56: by ~Jennifer~ (new)

~Jennifer~ (book_addiction) I tried to make cornish game hens once a couple years after I got married. Yeah. Didn't go well. My husband ended up cleaning them out and I ended up gagging in the bathroom. Couldn't even eat them after that. lol

message 57: by Tegan (new)

Tegan (therowdylibrarian) Hahaha. Oh man. I don't really wanna try making stuff by myself, 'cos I know I'll wind up doing something I'll need help with. Someone will need to guide me, unless it's fairly simple. But I feel stuffing chicken isn't simple! lol.

message 58: by Hannah (new)

Hannah | 468 comments Oh, ew, Jennifer. I can't even imagine that and I thought stuffing chicken was gross! :/

Ewww! That sort of thing grosses me out. I got a turkey once that I had to finish pulling all of the feather shafts out of, and they had left everything still inside (I so didn't realize how clean and prepared a butterball is!lol) and the tail area was like half chopped off, for me that was the worst! When you pulled the feather shafts out they had this weird little suction thing going on...it was so nasty. So my husband (at the time) thought it would be funny to chase me around the kitchen with the damn thing and some point he dropped the turkey on the ground and then we both slipped from the turkey slime...it was a horrible mess (even though it was a bit hilarious) and needless to say I did NOT eat turkey that year...but I still served it to my family that made me cook the entire meal bymyself!Mwuahahahaha

message 60: by Tegan (new)

Tegan (therowdylibrarian) Eww!!! lol. But I do love that you served it to them. Hehehe. They never knew!! Him chasing you around with it made me think of the time my dad found a dead praying mantis outside and chased me around the house with it. I ran up the stairs screaming and kept falling. It was like I was running for my life. haha.

message 61: by Hannah (new)

Hannah | 468 comments Oh, that is so gross! :/ No wonder I put off learning how to cook until now! LMAO

message 62: by ~Jennifer~ (new)

~Jennifer~ (book_addiction) lol Cooking is a lot of fun. Just stay away from the dead animals unless they come boneless, skinless and gutless. To this day I can't hear chicken bones crack...jeez thinking about it makes me a little nauseous.

Jen, those are some serious words to live by!LOL

message 64: by Hannah (new)

Hannah | 468 comments Has anyone boiled chicken before?

message 65: by ~Jennifer~ (new)

~Jennifer~ (book_addiction) Yep. Whenever I make Chicken and Dumplings or Chicken and Rice...boneless skinless is the way to go there too. lol

message 66: by Shellbelle (new)

 Shellbelle | 1168 comments Mod
Like a whole one? I have only (and will only) boiled boneless, skinless chicken breast.

message 67: by Hannah (new)

Hannah | 468 comments I didn't even know you boiled chicken, until I saw a recipe calling for boiled(or poached) chicken. LOL

message 68: by Kelly Lynn (new)

Kelly Lynn (lemonpink418) | 189 comments Haha, I'm with Jennifer, boneless, skinless is the way to go! I tried to make a whole chicken once in my crockpot (the greatest invention ever) and the thing was all bone!

message 69: by Tegan (new)

Tegan (therowdylibrarian) I second Kelly about the Crock-Pot being the best invention ever!!

message 70: by Hannah (new)

Hannah | 468 comments I'll have to buy a crockpot. I just have my foreman grill. lol

message 71: by Kelly Lynn (new)

Kelly Lynn (lemonpink418) | 189 comments The George Foreman runs a close second to the crockpot! I'm all about easy meal preparation on days I work, so both come in handy!

message 72: by Hannah (new)

Hannah | 468 comments I will definitely look into a crockpot. lol

message 73: by Tegan (new)

Tegan (therowdylibrarian) I want a George Foreman grill!!

message 74: by ~Jennifer~ (new)

~Jennifer~ (book_addiction) If you get one make sure you get that one that comes apart for easy cleaning. I have the original one and it's a B to clean.

message 75: by Tegan (new)

Tegan (therowdylibrarian) Thank you for warning me! I'll have to check 'em all out.

message 76: by Hannah (new)

Hannah | 468 comments Yes, you should get one! It's awesome. You can make anything on it. Yum.

message 77: by Tegan (new)

Tegan (therowdylibrarian) Ahh! Can't wait! :) Maybe that's what I'll get with my birthday money. haha.

message 78: by Kelly Lynn (new)

Kelly Lynn (lemonpink418) | 189 comments Oh yea and with the crockpot, the first one I got, I couldn't manually set the time or anything, it was just high\low for however many hours it was set at, and my chicken-pineapple teryaki ended up looking like this. I'm absolutely thrilled with my Food Network one that I can set the time and temperature.

Dinner

message 79: by Hannah (new)

Hannah | 468 comments Wow. That looks crazy gross. Glad you can set the time/temp now though.

message 80: by Tegan (new)

Tegan (therowdylibrarian) I just have off/low/high, but so far I haven't had a problem. Maybe I'll have to look into an upgrade. haha.

It looks like hot coals!LOL

message 82: by Tegan (new)

Tegan (therowdylibrarian) It does!! lol.

message 83: by ~Jennifer~ (new)

~Jennifer~ (book_addiction) I've decided to get my mom to try and re-teach me how to knit the next time I head home. I need a relaxing hobby outside of a book. Maybe that's it. lol

message 84: by Tegan (new)

Tegan (therowdylibrarian) I love knitting!! And crocheting!! I hope it goes well! Be sure to let us know! If knitting doesn't click, try crocheting. I tried knitting first and had a hard time, then crocheted, loved it and tried knitting again and it was much easier!

╰⊱♥⊱╮ღ꧁Kathy,Ahmazing Book Faerie꧂ღ╭⊱♥≺ (mamabear7080) I can't knit!! My mum must have just about pulled her hair out trying to teach me!! I can however crochet, and have just taught miss 12 how to make peggy squares. I have made the two oldest grandchildren rugs for their beds and am onto youngest one's now. It's really hard to crochet and read!! lol. I also spend a bit of time making cards, although have been a bit slack lately! Too many books to read !

message 86: by ~Jennifer~ (new)

~Jennifer~ (book_addiction) My mom taught me how to knit the other day! I actually get it now. lol I'm making...something...it might be a scarf.

message 87: by ~Jennifer~ (new)

~Jennifer~ (book_addiction) I'm going to attempt to make throw pillows. lol Now if I could just get my brain in gear to pick out the fabric and possibly learn how to sew without sucking before I start.

message 88: by Melissa (new)

Melissa (cx3ane) | 85 comments My hobbies are anything to do with crafts. I have taken furniture & redid them. I have a tv stand that I will be redoing soon. I will or my husband will sand it. Then, I will paint it. New furniture! Love it! I paid $10 for it. I brought my daughter a small bookcase & did the same thing for it. I also paint. On my personal blog, I have crafts I have made.

I love to take photos! I love to blog! Love my kids & huskies! I can sew! I can make pillows, curtains& capes for the kids. I do love to bake, but my back hates when I do!
