I've put a spoiler, in case some new fans don't know that Sam's real name is Roger. Some people probably started reading the series from book one Unsung Hero.

Sam didn't like being called Roger, because of his father. He's a junior. I love that he's called Sam. I'm glad that Bob and his other nicknames didn't stick.

Question: Do you think that Sam should have had his name legally changed to Sam or just leave it Roger?

Alyssa still calls Sam, Roger, ever once in a while. She even admitted to Jules in All Through The Night, when he asked her about her calling Sam, Roger.

Back in the tension moment's between them in Gone Too Far, Alyssa would call him Roger. She knew he didn't like being called that.

Sam knew that Alyssa didn't like being called Sweatheart and other nameless names to her. That topic was discussed in All Through The Night, between him and Jules.

If Sam legally changed his name to Sam, Ash could have been Sam Jr., to me, he's already Sam jr.

Oh my Auntee, you are going to really put me on the spot. I know that I'm going to mess this up.

Lets see, Sam was called Houston, because his name is Roger and it's a saying that the astornauts uses and if I am not mistaken, someone started calling him Houston, because it's another astornaut saying or because he was from Texas.

Because of the nickname Houston, someone started calling him Sam, after Sam Houston.

I have to say that Sam is the name that he will forever be known by me by.

Yes Sam = Sam is Alyssa's Man. But, hey, my name starts with an A too. So, it could mean Sam is Arch's Man. :)

Auntee | 74 comments LOL Arch! I knew it was something like that, with Houston being involved, but I couldn't remember the exact sequence.:)

One day, I will go to the book and see what it says and then come back here and post it. I think I'm close to how Sam gotten the name Sam. I know that in Over The Edge, Sam explains it, when Alyssa calls his hotel room drunk.

Cindi (ourtrumpcard) | 381 comments I'm surprised you don't want Sam's name legally changed to "Arch's husband" ... :)

Cindi, you're good!

I like that Sam is just his nickname, to be honest. I think that's the fun thing about nicknames, especially those that are inside jokes. I hate being called by my childhood nickname, so I rarely answer to it.

Are you going to tell us what it is...?:)

Nope, cause then you can use it against me. No, seriously, my family nickname is Tina, from an abbreviation of my middle name. Nothing against it, I just don't like being called that.

Auntee | 74 comments Tina? That's not so bad!:D

Yeah, I just don't care for it. I don't think I'm a "Tina" and I felt like I had to fight hard to be taken seriously by my family...So there were some issues there with it. I prefer being called Danielle, but my aunt calls me "Doc", which is cool.

message 13: by Auntee (new)

Auntee | 74 comments Oh yeah, Doc is definitely a cool nickname!
No one ever calls you Dani?

Some people online do. (Whispers: I'm not that fond of it.)
