wow. you guys feel strongly about hating twilight huh!! unlike me - a fellow twilighter with OCD (obsessive cullen disorder) okay - before you start grabbing your torches and pitchforks and start chanting "KILL AND BURN BOOKS, KILL AND BURN BOOKS" let me explain my reason for liking it and for me posting here.i think that twilight is an awesome book because it has lots of different themes. Romance, adventure, horror, comedy (at points). I also think that Meyer really allows you to feel the characters emotions. I think that you agree with me on that point because a lot of you have been complaining about how soppy and mushy and WAY too romantic is. i read all of your comments and some = i have to admit were pretty...true. i am obsessed with twilight but i am trying to see other people's views and why they hate it. so don't get angry at me please! :)
i ALSO think that some of the twilight lovers need to shut up - yes - i am one too but some of you guys need to stop telling the twilight haters to shut up, etc. calm down and at least TRY to see their point of view.
by now i hope you guys have lowered your pitchforks, and i am telling you now that you can put them right down on the ground for another twilight lover who starts telling you to shut up and who "accidentally" gets her mother involved.
can i just QUICKLY explain why I love twilight. 1. i think that bella resembles me (i am very clumsy too!!! and have pale skin, brown hair and brown eyes naturally)
2. edward is to some of you a predator, freak, wierd old guy. i think that he is just protective of bella and i think that it is so sweet that he cares about her that much.
3. people who hate reading love it now thanks to twilight (in my experience that is)
4. (i'm only going to 5!!) twilight has so much to read, romance, adventure, horror - so much to sink your teeth into (corny joke!!)
5. in MY opinion (and my opinion only) i think that it is well-written, not going into too much detail because i know that some person is going to continue arguing against that point and probably the rest of them too - which is okay by me because they're entitiled to their own opinion and i can't be bothered expressing mine too much! :P
i must admit that sometimes i am...*bites lip* a twilight hater. when, may you ask?
1. when i hear that kids who are 7 years old are reading it
2. when fellow twilight lovers try to annoy me by saying that they "deleted all twilight pics",etc.
3. when twilight haters accuse me of not hearing their side.
4. when twilight lovers go on and on and on and on and ...you get the picture! about how much they hate twilight haters - they don't hear your side.
my last little thing is that i joined goodreads and this club solely to explain to you my point on this issue. please don't start hating me, or whatever. everyone is entiteld to their own opinion whether it is (in this case) loving twilight or hating twilight.

Just to address a few of your points
1. I believe Stephanie Meyer purposely created a nondescript character as to allow her readers to see themselves in bella and vicariously experience her romance. Normally this wouldn't be such a bad thing but i think bella is an awful rolemodel. Unfortunately, readers tend to be so enthralled with edward that they forget to consider what bella is like as an individual.

3. absolutely true because twilight is such an easy read. For me it was harry potter but i would rather not draw that parallel :)
4. you offer a valid point though i didn't really see it. Ill take your word for it.
5. Personally i think the writing is awful as a piece of literature. As a leisure tween book i think it fits the profile.

Haha, well I guess I'm new to this group...I'm not gonna lie...I am a Twilight lover! BUT I'm not like one of those psyco girls who like cry tears of joy when they see a pic of Edward Cullen. (even tho I do love him lol) I just heard from a friend that people on here were saying mean stuff about Twilight. I really dont think you guys are stupid at all..everyones entitled to their opinion! For me its like, I LOVE the books and all, but its just a book! Get on with your life people! :)

I agree with some of your points there, Madz. I was after all an ex-Twilight lover. I was so obsessed with the book that I surpassed the obsession of a friend of mine who introduced the book to me.
Gemma's right as well. It's an easy read for a tween book. But I don't appreciate the personality of Bella. Honestly... in my opinion. I think she thinks she's sex deprived. I mean... begging Edward to have sex with her?
That's just... bleagh! If she's so desperate to have sex she has Jacob to take care of that. Not that I would encourage someone in a relationship to have a one night stand or any sexual relationship with another man or girl... 'Nuff said, let's go to a different conversation.
This is just a point I'd like to address to everyone, and no I am not trying to offend Twilight lovers... I just think that Bella is NOT a good role model for the readers.
Pregnancy at the age of 18?! It may be acceptable to the young generations today but surely it's not EVERYONE'S cup of tea!
I know she's married, but I don't think girls that age should be tied in matrimony.
Edward... when I was reading the book I thought he was sweet. I still think that he's sweet but sometimes, he's just too sweet to the point when I feel Bella is manipulating his kindness and love for her.
I know Bella is plain and why someone like Edward would like her is entirely not up to us readers. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.

I'm sorry but Bella just doesn't have the personality guys are after. I should know! I'm not a guy but after reading the book called 'THE MANUAL' by Steve Santagati, it would give you a fair idea what boys are actually thinking.
I have two copies of the book, one for my friends if they want to borrow it, and the other one is used for me to read if I get the knack to. So don't tell me I am reading a default version of the book. But I doubt you guys would point that out.
I know that reading a dating book is... well weird for some people- but that book gives us insight what is in a guy's mind. I advice you girls to read it!
It's quite funny and not like other dating help books I have read. There is nothing BAD about reading those kind of books. They help!
I shouldn't be saying this since I don't have a boyfriend but at least I know what's inside a guy's mind. And Bella's personality IS NOT what guys could tolerate.
Whining all the time? Even I couldn't stand people who whine about their boyfriends not wanting to have sex or their weight problems, etc. If they think they're fat they should go to the gym and exercise. Not whine and deprive their bodies of nutrition! I am absolutely against anorexia. Go for being healthy!!

If you actually read the rules and regulations in a list called Internet etiquette...
It is rude and you have NO right to join in on our 'meeting' and express your so called opinions on us, saying that we are wrong.
For one, us twilight haters do have the same right to create a forum, website or any other electronic/personal venue as you twilight lovers do.
Number two, there is a reason why we created this forum... it is because we HATE twilight. If you LOVE twilight then... I guess you have to have your optometrist check your visual capacity, or maybe a shrink that could help find out your own mental capacity in figuring out two complete antonyms.

A forum is not a debate area unless it is specified that there is a possible access in gaining a debate. Last time I checked... this site was specifically called twilight haters.
There are no indication of inviting others to express a different opinion and cast out a very unprofessional debate, if you so kindly spared your time in convincing us. But as I have said, if you do want to express your side of the story, feel free- as long as you actually substantiate it and not attack us like a headless chicken.

LOVED your rant :) Personally I think Bella is one of the most whiny, undesirable protagonists i have ever had the misfortune of stumbling across. She is a god awful role model for the tweens that read Twilight.

I agree with the prenancy at 18 thingy - a big silly but at least they were married beforehand. I try to think of the book in a fictional sense, so i haven't realllly thought about the marriage thing, i think it works in the book and fits in - but in reality i don't think it's good. i heard someone say something about proof and evidence. well here's something from the movie that has bella in her panties!! seriously!! and kissing edward @ the same time!!

I recieved an email update from one of my fave magz Cleo (Cosmo is my #1 favourite)...
I CANNOT BELIEVE MY MAGAZINE HAS SUCCUMB TO THE INFERIORITY OF TWILIGHT!!! NOOO!!! I decided to check it out and to tell you the truth, I had to stop reading mid way of the comments posted there...

Personally, I hate twilight. I just had to say that. I got the second book at my home-away-from-home (a used book store) in amazing condition for $2.50. "what the heck?" I thought. "what harm can come from it?" I thought.now, I laugh. or CRY. the fourth book kinda scarred me. my (ex-) friend is one of the "OMGijustreadTwilightforthefifthtimeandit'ssoooamazing!!"

As for me, with the books, I read the first three about a year ago, and I was completely obsessive over them. To the point where all of my conversations were centered around some aspect of the book. I can't remember what made me gain a brain, but now I hate them. I read the last one, BD or whatever, to see what Meyer did. I seriously think that my little brother could've been more creative, and that if he wrote it, it would've been more entertaining.
one thing I have also noticed... Almost All of the Twilight lovers are just obsessed and they just wish they could be Bella (But who would honestly want to be her????) so they have to be (sorry if some people consider this mean) no-brained immature brats who go to a Twilight haters group and yell at the people.
It's like saying she's just average. There's nothing special about her. She's clumsy if you want to count that. But, she's boring, average and totally mind-numbing.
