I just thought I'd post an update. I'm scheduled for surgery on Wednesday this week. That'll take me out of things for 2-3 days. I have been told that I may find my recliner challenging early on. That means the lap-top will be combersum. Of coarse I'l lbe hable to handle my Kindle (and won't even have to get out of bed to check the shelves!)

Tuesday night will likely be the last few posts of the weke fo rme.

Thank you guys for your well wishing and good thoughts. I hope it'll go smoothly too.

My Three legged cat's going to be a bit miffed. Her favorite sleeping perch will be off limits for a couple of days. Or to quote my wife "The belly will be closed."

message 55: by Traci (new)

Traci Good luck and take it easy.

Thank you Traci, I'll do the best at taking it easy I can. Two kids... a three legged cat that's so old she forgets how long it's been and gets lonely in five minutes. And a collie who is used to getting a good walk a day... I'm locking myself in the basement with a microwave and a small fridge.

message 57: by Traci (new)

Traci And your Kindle.

You might want to bring a bucket to the basement with you, too. Unless, of course there's a bathroom down there.

lol

and a bed or a couch! actually it's a finished basement. It makes the match box sized house into a shoe box sized house.

Cool! My basement looks like something out of a horror movie. lol

Only if I get to instal one of those "honk honk" horns. I have to be able to summon my wife.

message 66: by Eileen (new)

Okay, I'm back and drugged. The Surgery went well, the pain killers even better! I'll post as I can... It'll give me something to do.

I'm glad it went well, Hugh. I can't believe you're back online already!!!

message 69: by Eileen (new)

Eileen Happy to hear the surgery was a success! Keep taking those pain killers and rest!

message 70: by The Pirate Ghost, Long John Silvers Wanna-be (new)

The Pirate Ghost (Formerly known as the Curmudgeon) (pirateghost) | 5326 comments Mod
Well, thanks to the drugs. I believe "Carol" from another group pointed out that getting up and around as soon as possible is a good thing for recovery.

Good thing my lap top weighs less than 10 lbs.

and Oh BOY! 20 more minutes to taking another of the Cet family (in this case Perco).

Its either this or golf? (which is funny cause I actually like watching golf).

Rest and read... and eat... I think it's a good sign that my stomach feels better than ever where food is concerned. Pain from the neat three holes they used. I saw some pictures ... my insides look nothing like I imagined them.

message 72: by Traci (new)

Traci Yea, the human body is very gross. Lol. I work at a medical billing office and one of our doctors has pictures in her files. I try not to look if I can help it.

Good to have you back.

FYI: For the Month of October, I'll not have the time at work to get on line that I have enjoyed lately. We have a Treatment Group staring up. I'll still be online but not nearly as often or as prolific as I have been.

Thank you Eileen. I like working/Facilitating our Outpatient Groups. Their fun. It just means I won't be at my computer checking to see what's up as much. I'll still be readin and postin... just not as much since I have enjoyed a light work load (post surgery) for the last couple of weeks.

I feel like being more useful.

Did anyone volunteer to moderate the "List of Seven" discussion for November?

message 85: by Danielle The Book Huntress , Literary Adrenaline Junkie (new)

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 5150 comments Mod
I'm signed up for it, but if you'd like to do it, please let me know.

message 86: by The Pirate Ghost, Long John Silvers Wanna-be (new)

The Pirate Ghost (Formerly known as the Curmudgeon) (pirateghost) | 5326 comments Mod
I think I can manage one thread on "The List of Seven." I know you were looking for help later on, but I'm not sure how my schedule will shape up yet. I can do this. I don't see any reason to "Take it" (meaning, I've got no particulary investment in this above the investment of anyone else) but if you need or would like me to do it, I surely can.

message 87: by Danielle The Book Huntress , Literary Adrenaline Junkie (new)

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 5150 comments Mod
I'm fine moderating it, but I haven't read the book. I plan to read it, however, I have got tons of review books to read next month. I'll probably do like I did with Goldfinger, and let people chat.

message 88: by The Pirate Ghost, Long John Silvers Wanna-be (new)

The Pirate Ghost (Formerly known as the Curmudgeon) (pirateghost) | 5326 comments Mod
I've read it, but that was a while ago. I have it on the Kindle (Just released on Kindle on 25 October) and I intend to re-read during November.

I can do it, but, your right, threads like that don't need much to moderate unless someone tries to call Star Wars a Fantasy on the Fantasy Aficionado thread or something. Then you have to break up people. (reminds me of a Fineas and Ferb episode.)

What ever you think will work best. I'm availible if you need me.

If you want to pop into the discussion and keep things lively, that would be great. I am hoping we can get some members to sign up to do discussions some of the other months.

message 90: by Eileen (new)

Eileen I'll be happy to sign up and moderate some future reads, unfortunately I don't think I'll have time to read The List of Seven this month. Just wanted to mention I would be happy to do it in the future.

message 91: by Danielle The Book Huntress , Literary Adrenaline Junkie (new)

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 5150 comments Mod
Great, Eileen. Take a look at your schedule, and if you think of a month that would work for you, just post which month you want on the Group Reads thread.

message 92: by Eileen (new)

Eileen Thanks, Danielle. I'll be sure and do that.

Do you guys have an issue with a second book in a series being nominated if we have or have not read the first book?

Let me know if that's an issue.

I didn't put it in the poll this month, but we'll know for next time when Hugh gets a chance to weigh in.

Thanks, Jason.
