Matt Monroe | 2 comments Hey S&L,

I work for a start-up company in Boise, Idaho which just launched a sort of "Pandora.com for books" using computational linguistics. We provide reading suggestions based on the books writing style and thematic make-up.

We have recently launched booklamp.org to showcase the technology and would really like to get feedback from the book community. Naturally being a Sword and Laser listener (first time poster) I thought that you guys would be able to give us some great feedback.

We currently have about 20,000 books in the database from 2 publishers (Random House and Kensington).

If you have any questions I am planning to monitor this thread and will do my best to answer them.

Thanks S&L community,

Matt Monroe

Andrew (adrew) | 426 comments I just showed my wife and the first 6 or so books she tried weren’t in there (which didn't really sell it to her). I personally think it looks nifty, but until there are more books its practicality is a little limited.

Whilst not bowled over by it, she did like the graphic choice at the top :)
