Both of these books have the premise of a protagonist liking their best friend's boyfriend. Which of these books do you prefer?

I liked them both, but I think Unwritten Rule was better. Don't remember many specifics though. It's been a while since I read them.

I liked them both but I think I lean towards the Unwritten Rule because I really liked the characters and the story line better. It was just so cute!

The unwritten rule becasue it seemed more realistic to me. In Something Like Fate, the girls sort of stayed friends in the end. I didn't like that because I know if my best friend was kissing my man behind my back I wouldn't wanna see her ever again. I wouldn't want to see him either. In the Unwritten Rule, the girls did not stay friends, so that seemed more realistic to me.
Also, Something Like Fate's cover was a little missleading, don't you think?
Something like fate. The characters didn't know they were going to end up together, it just happened. You can say it was fate. They met through her best friend, he was her boyfriend and they probably were together for a reason.

Hmm... I read The Unwritten Rule a while ago and so don't remember very much, but I remember that I really liked it. I just finished Something Like Fate today and quite liked that too.I think the whole fate thing was way unrealistic but I didn't mind that because it was unrealistic in the kind of way that you wish would happen to you. As for the girls staying friends, well, personally I don't believe in such a thing as 'stealing' someone's boyfriend. I think that if two people are in love and would be immensely happy together, as with Lani and Jason, it isn't fair or logical that they shouldn't be together just because someone else likes him too. Therefore, I think it would make Erin a bit of a b**** if she didn't eventually forgive Lani, especially considering that what she did to her was worse since she got the entire school hating her because of what was partly a lie.
But, returning to the topic... I seriously need to re-read The Unwritten Rule.
I liked the unwritten rule more. I liked how the relationship between Brianna and Sarah was more complicated and how Sarah had always liked ryan. This way is felt less like she was actually stealing Brianna's boyfriend, the two of them always liked each other, brianna was just a slight glitch. In Something Like Fate everything seemed to work out almost too perfectly, from the whole love at first sight thing the happy ending for everyone.

I liked The Unwritten Rule by far. This book made me so annoyed.
The characters in Something Like Fate were more annoying and the writing was making my brain hurt.
Something Like Fate writing:
I go, "slkgjhsdfjg"
He's like, "asdf;ad"
I went, "sfglfjg!"
The Unwritten Rule had better writing and the characters had more depth.
Both are terrible. Something Like Fate becomes about bullying and The Unwritten Rule is about losing a friend.
