Moderator Thread Maintenance *Mods Please Read*

Hi Ladies. I am asking your help in keeping the threads organized. I thought that perhaps we could assign a month for each moderator to monitor threads and to keep the folders organized. During your month, you would make sure that topics are in the right folders. Keep the General folder empty and assign any new topics to a folder. If there are discussions that are pretty much dead, you can archive them. If they have a time limit, you can close and archive it. I think it would work best if we did different months so we don't step on each others' toes.

Are you cool with that?

Also, what order should the threads be in? Of course the Introduction/Group Housekeeping thread will stay first. I know one of my groups lists threads in alphabetical order, with the Archive thread as last. What do you think?

We're going to leave the writing challenge stories along, right? The writers tends to get busy and may not have a chance to write to the stories in a while.

We wouldn't close or archive the writing challenge threads unless the writer explicitly asks us to do so.

One thing I would ask is that if a mod archives a thread and you don't feel it should be archived, just politely say so on this thread. Please discuss it here and ask the moderator who moved the thread to undo it. I don't think that will be an issue, but just in case.

lol, I thought we each had four months. I see my name for January - April, 2012. I must have had read wrong. How about we each get two months = 10 months and the last two months, we combine controlling the group.

UniquelyMoi don't feel that way. I don't get emails. I've chosen to get notifications. I like this better. If you want to do this, you go to your profile and under email, where your groups are listed, choose notification only. On your home page, under your profile, there's a notification option. It will let you know how many notifications you have. If you click on it, you will see who has last responded to a thread. You can even see the notification amount at the top right hand corner on your home page.

My email tends to bounce and that's why I like the notification only option. My email has bounced on July 15, 2011 and I didn't bother fixing it.

The notification only will save me from deleting a lot of emails.

It's getting beyond ridiculous, I think. I'm set to get ALL email notifications for this group, but I've discovered a pattern now... the WLLK group, JR WARD group, PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, HAPPILY EVER AFTER CAFE, and now this group... ALL of which I am a moderator in... I don't get the emails. There has to be a link somehow.

I'm going to check out your tips! I'll holler if I have questions.

UniquelyMoi, if you aren't receiving emails from the group, your email probably bounced. Go to your profile to see if that's what happened. If that's not the case, in stead of choosing notification only if that's not what you want to do, choose email for all the groups you want to receive an email from. The emails usually come in a bundle.

We probably need to keep an eye on promos in the wrong places too. It hasn't been a problem, but I don't want that to change.

Arch, would they ONLY bounce emails from certain groups? I usually get the emails... and then, as with this one now, once I go in and comment I start getting emails again. I think it's an issue with Goodreads somehow.

They should send emails for all groups. The only time you get an email if someone reply to something that you have said. Other than that, you will get bundle emails, if you have choose that option.

There's the option to receive all emails for all threads, even new ones that you didn't know about, and that's what I have set for almost all my groups. I'm just noticing that it's only the groups I'm a moderator in that there's a problem.
