Sajra | 2 comments Hello everyone, I hope you are doing well these days. I'm Sajra and come from Bosnia and Herzegovina. Although being in this group for a long time, I have not been active which I'll do my best to change from now on. Goodreads in general was from the beggining a great source of reading material for me and I hope dissccusing and exchanging thoughts with you people here will make it more beneficial for both you and me whether it be in terms of finding new, how I like to call them, paper jewels or sharing oppinions about them.

Barbara Moss | 400 comments Hello. I am a priest from England. I have just joined Goodreads because my social life and travel opportunities have been blitzed by the Covid-19 virus. Since I give up detective stories for Lent, I am looking around for something different to read. The Quiz was fascinating - many titles I have read and forgotten about, others I have never heard of but would love to read.

Hello, I'm Cinda from Canada. My usual travel is a car trip to the US, and sometimes I fly to Central America or Hawaii.

But this year I'm staying home due to Covid-19 travel restrictions, so I'll take a trip through the books you all read and recommend in this group. Stay safe everyone!

Thanks Diane! Sad but true, hope we can all go on trips again soon. Until then, we can inspire each other with our books.

Alecto (alecto7) | 2 comments Hi there!
Travel lover and bookworm, this group seems a natural 'home' to me.
I started travelling as soon as I could read, even though I had to wait to be old enough to phisically follow with actions to thoughts.
I'm a happy wanderer. in body and spirit
Merry meet :)

message 2664: by Abbie (new)

Abbie | 1 comments Hello everyone,

I’m Abbie and I’m from the UK. I love reading, listening to music, colouring, watching tv shows and films. I wanted to get back into reading as I loved it so much when I was younger and recently got back into so I then decided to join goodreads. I have been in the group for a week or so but find myself shy when it comes to putting myself out there and being social with new people. Due to the current circumstances I’m reading even more and it’s been a great form of escapism for me. I hope everyone is doing well and is keeping safe😊

message 2668: by Theresia (new)

Theresia Hi everybody! I'm Theresia, originally from a tiny Bavarian mountain village (in central Germany), but I usually live in Madrid, Spain's beautiful capital city. I LOVE reading and I LOVE traveling, and since the latter is kinda impossible these days, I thought it might be nice to get some of that exploring-new-places-need satisfied with books. I'm excited to be a part of this group and hope to get to know you all soon!
Have a nice Tuesday and be safe!

message 2669: by Rosemarie (new)

Rosemarie | 3958 comments Hi, Theresia. Welcome!
I love reading and travelling too.
I was born in a small town in Franken many years ago and have been in Canada since I was six. What is the name of your home town? I love mountains!

message 2670: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) Welcome all!

I like mountains too, but I live in a desert area but can drive to the Cascades or the Blues (Oregon) when I am not told to Shelter in Place.

Hey Rosemarie! What a coincidence! I'm from a very small village not far from Würzburg, Unterfranken! Do you still visit Germany (not right now, obviously)? Where in Canada do you live? Very nice to meet you on here :)

message 2672: by Rosemarie (new)

Rosemarie | 3958 comments Theresia, I visit Germany a lot, since I have relatives there. My aunt lives in Lindflur, about 10 minutes from Würzburg! I was born in Kitzingen but lived in Hüttenheim. It really is a beautiful area of Germany.

message 2673: by Rosemarie (new)

Rosemarie | 3958 comments Kirsten, I live in Toronto, where we don't have mountains but we do have a lot of green spaces and ravines-and Lake Ontario.

Hi, Theresia! Welcome to the group! I visited central and northern Germany last year. It is very beautiful! Madrid is beautiful, as well, but I haven't been there in a few years.

lana :) (lanamae) Hi, everyone.
I'm Mae from Germany and I'm currently finishing my bachelor degree at university. I love reading and I'm especially curious about non-western literature, which I am afraid I haven't read a massive amount of, but I'm excited to get started.

message 2682: by Janet (new)

Janet | 1 comments Hello Everyone! I've been an armchair tourist for many years. Prior to that I lived in West Africa for 2 years, traveled to Greece, Germany, England, Mexico, Canada, the Bahamas, and Venezuela. I try and read a variety of genres but my favorite is historical fiction. I love books set in other countries so I can learn about the culture and experience a little of it, even if it's only vicariously. I also enjoy history, and at the moment I'm reading a perfect pandemic book: The Year of Wonders, which takes place in England during the plague. It's inspired by an actual village called Eyam. Looking forward to exploring this group and chatting with you all. Be well!

Kaite | 3 comments Good afternoon,
I've been working on the Around the World challenge for two years now (I incorporated autonomous regions and disputed territories into my list, so it's over 250 books long). I'm getting close to finishing! I've joined late, but this has been the best literary journey I've ever done.
I adore learning about different countries, cultures, politics and historic events. If you guys have any recommendations for my next book list, feel free to share!
