Kristin | 25 comments Hello! I started getting to reading Historical Fiction last year. I made a New Year's goal (2019) to read 1 or 2 books from each cultural region. I have completed 8 out of 11 regions and am just about to start reading A Suitable Boy. I was looking for other Indic, Slavic, and Insular Oceanic based book ideas, which led me to this club! This looks pretty exciting. My son (6) will be studying the US States next year, so I am attracted to the US Reading Roadtrip, as well as the Monthly Group Reads + Themed Challenges.

Hello, Kristin! Great project! I hope we can help you meet your goals.

Phrodrick slowed his growing backlog Hy Kirstin,

For a long time I avoided the best historical fiction, because I read a lot of History/Biography and it is easy to confuse the two.
I am much less hesitant now and gotta say, my rule cost me a ton of good reads.
Good luck on your journey.

That's an amazing book! It may seem daunting because of the length, but I loved the storylines of the families. Hope you enjoy the journey!

Woman Reading (is away exploring) | 148 comments Hi Everyone. I live in the US. I joined Goodreads two months ago and have finally gotten around to checking out the groups. This one looks like a fantastic group since it combines my two biggest passions.

My reading can be inspired by or inspire my travels. After reading Lee Child's Jack Reacher stories set in South Dakota, I visited the National parks and Mt. Rushmore last year. I regarded this year as my “year of Asia,” which included 6 countries. I’ve just finished The Lover as my Vietnam connection and I’m looking forward to reading Chanrithy Him's book about the Khmer Rouge.

Come check out my profile & shelves. I'd like to meet more people with similar interests.

RJ - Slayer of Trolls (hawk5391yahoocom) Hi everyone, I'm RJ and I live in southern California. As a result of being in Goodreads I have expanded my reading tastes and I'm interested in reading more translated books. I'm not a huge fan of travel (I like being in new places but I don't enjoy the "getting there" part) but I enjoy seeing and learning about other parts of the world through books.

Right now I'm reading, among others, Mark Twain's first book, The Innocents Abroad: Or the New Pilgrim's Progress. It's a non-fiction account of Twain's experiences on a cruise through European ports as well as the "Holy Land." I have enjoyed "following along" by checking out online pictures of the places he visited and the sights he saw.

I'll work my way through some of the discussion topics over the next few weeks. Looking forward to meeting everyone and talking about books!

Eugenia | 1 comments Hello everyone! I'm Eugenia and I live in a small town in south of Romania. I had joined GR a while ago and I found your group but I was shy to come out to introduce myself. I love reading since I was a child and traveling on foot or through books. When I was younger I had read many Romanian authors and I want to fill my hunger for reading with authors from all over the world.
I'm reading The time of the doves by Merće Rodoreda and I'm enjoying it so far. Good reading!

John Morris | 3 comments I'm John and I love travel books and historical books. Therefore my absolute favourite reads are journeys with an element of historical fact entwined within the story. I've just read The Lost City of the Monkey God which is an adventure story covering the discovery of a lost City and that was excellent.

Tyler_zakiyareadsbooks_ | 6 comments Hi all! I'm Tyler, I'm 19, currently at university and from London. I haven't done a lot of travelling in my books, they are either mostly set in the UK, US, Scotland or France, so it would be great to find books where I can travel more corners of the world.

Physically I have gone to few more places: Amsterdam, Poland, France, Spain, Ghana, New York, US and Jamaica.

The Time of Doves looks like an interesting story. It would be great to hear if you liked it. 😊
