Welcome to the group, Sukmanjot! Please let me know how I can help you navigate the group and Goodreads.

Hi, Meytal! Welcome to the group! I love your project. I will be thinking about which 10 books to recommend for your list. I am also excited about August being Women in Translation Month! Hmmm, I might need to create an August challenge to commemorate this...

Hi, Rafia! Welcome to the group! Glad to have you here.

Hi, Jacquie! Welcome to the group!

Hello, Kristin! Great project! I hope we can help you meet your goals.

For a long time I avoided the best historical fiction, because I read a lot of History/Biography and it is easy to confuse the two.
I am much less hesitant now and gotta say, my rule cost me a ton of good reads.
Good luck on your journey.

That's an amazing book! It may seem daunting because of the length, but I loved the storylines of the families. Hope you enjoy the journey!

Looking forward to discussions - I can see that one of the upcoming books is, in fact, on Bosnia!

Hi, Sanja! Welcome to the group! We also just finished The Bridge on the Drina, another great book from Bosnia.

Hi, Sandra! Welcome to the group! You come from one of the countries I would most like to visit one day.

My name is Charles and I love reading books about other parts of the world. I live in Kentucky. I was born in England and brought up in Uganda and Newfoundland. My university education spanned english, economics, and business. I've worked in Germany and England. I'm excited to join your group!

Good to meet you, Rosemarie. Thanks for commenting. You've seen a lot of Canada!

Thanks so much!

Hi, Kim! We'd love to hear your recommendations!

My reading can be inspired by or inspire my travels. After reading Lee Child's Jack Reacher stories set in South Dakota, I visited the National parks and Mt. Rushmore last year. I regarded this year as my “year of Asia,” which included 6 countries. I’ve just finished The Lover as my Vietnam connection and I’m looking forward to reading Chanrithy Him's book about the Khmer Rouge.
Come check out my profile & shelves. I'd like to meet more people with similar interests.

Right now I'm reading, among others, Mark Twain's first book, The Innocents Abroad: Or the New Pilgrim's Progress. It's a non-fiction account of Twain's experiences on a cruise through European ports as well as the "Holy Land." I have enjoyed "following along" by checking out online pictures of the places he visited and the sights he saw.
I'll work my way through some of the discussion topics over the next few weeks. Looking forward to meeting everyone and talking about books!

Welcome to the group, Diane in Australia!
