Hi, Lesa! Welcome to the group! Glad you have joined. Planning which books to read is almost as fun as reading them.

Hi, David. Welcome to the group. This is not a thread for self-promotion.

I'm Ana from Spain, I'm happy to be joining this group, I read in English and Spanish, I've been reading since I was 6 years old, I don't remember a day without reading.

¡Hola!, Ana! Welcome to the group!
Hi there! This is Lucas, a language teacher living in Chile at the moment. I tend to read mostly in English and Spanish, but I'm trying to do so in French as well. Recently I've developed an obsession with world literature so I thought this group would be nice for me.

Hi, Lucas! Welcome to the group! I have the same obsession.

My name is Razvan. I'm 27, a business consultant by trade and a huge book nerd. I'm actually traveling around the world (been doing this for almost three years) but I'll have to stop it soon enough.
So while I'm taking a pause from traveling, I want to inspire myself to discover new places and new adventures :)

Hi, Razvan! Welcome to the group! It is wonderful that you are traveling the world while you are young.

Hello to you too Diane. Thank you. It took me years to convince myself, to find the courage to do this, facing fears and dangers that never came true.

Just joined this group. My favorite saying is "Reading a book takes you around the world while sitting in your favorite chair." I would love to find some new places to travel in my chair. Looking forward to all the new places to visit. Have a great day!

Hi, Sherrie! Welcome to the group. That is a great saying. I hope you will find many new places to travel to by chair!

H. Dalloway here. European by birth :)
Bored with the normative, love the unconventional. Tired of the common, smitten with the odd and different. Drained by stereotypes and of long term exposure to unoriginality , longing for the innovative and the absurd, whimsical, imaginative and queer...
And yeah. I'm reading science fiction novels from all around the world. Everything science fiction you could think of, from every little place on the planet you could think of.
But I need help finding the good stuff. So If you guys have some time, and some knowledge about some intriguing sci-fi book from Taiwan, Venezuela, Tanzania or Iceland. Wherever. Please share it with me.
The book doesn't have to be super rare or anything, but if it is on the everyday top 100 best science fictions novel list, then I have already read it. It can be old stuff or totally new. It's as Shakira says it: Whenever, wherever...
And by the way, this group is awsome! I have already found so much help in my quest.

Here is the list so far:

lol, I'm glad I could help.

I love reading and trying to make sure time for it. It's been a crazy year and need to read more.
I'm open to all books and learn something from each one.
I would like to get more involved.
Thanks!

Hi, Val! Welcome to the group! I wish I could read in all the languages, too. I am happy that more and more books are being translated into languages I can read.

Hi, Elaine! Welcome to the group!

Hi, Finn! Welcome to the group!

Hi, Peggy! Glad to have you here!

Hi, Sharon! Welcome to the group!

At the moment I'm looking for fiction set in Vanuatu!

Hi, Kelly! Welcome to the group!

my name is Jessica, I'm 31 and live in Germany. I grew up with two cultures, German and French, and have lived in Germany and France as well as England, which has opened my eyes on how different cultures can be, even between neighbouring countries.
Because of my studies, I already have lots of contact with English and French literature (also from ex-colonies), but there are so many more countries I would like to visit through reading, and also in real.
I've been reading ever since I learned to do so, and I have probably read every genre there is, though at the moment I prefer paranormal, fantasy, romance. What I particularly like is reading books (and then not necessarily in the genres mentioned) about different cultures or social minorities in a country, because - that's my opinion - they can open your eyes on ongoing problems better than natives can.
I hope I can get to learn some nice people here and can take part in some really exciting challenges.

Hi, Fiza! I also live in metro Atlanta!

Hi, Cindy! Another Atlanta person! I wish you the best of success in your new book.

Hi, Jessica! Welcome to the group!
For Vanuatu, I have on my TBR list Beyond Sunrise by Candice E. Proctor.

Hi, Belle! Welcome to the group!

Hi, Tom! Welcome to the group! I completely agree about experiencing the texture and feel of new places.

Hi, Valeria! Welcome to the group! Have a wonderful time in Seattle next month!

Hi, My wife and I have recently returned from a 10 month adventure around the world visiting 15 countries as varied as the Amazon Jungle, New Zealand vineyards, the Atacama Desert, The Galapagos, Easter Island, Myanmar, and as they say, many more.
I wrote along the way and so the book of the adventure, ‘Turning Left Around the World’ is published by Mirador and available for pre-order on Amazon.
It is, I hope, an engaging account of our adventure, often intriguing, frequently funny and occasionally tragic.
Many thanks
David
