Paul Shore (pshore) | 1 comments Hi, I'm new author Paul Shore and I am simply looking for title feedback and hope this is an acceptable way to ask such a question...

Do you think I missed the mark with the subtitle of Uncorked? Maybe too long and too many words that people don't recognize?... e.g. Petanque, Pastis, Chagall.

Maybe something more like these would attract more readers?...
“Uncorked - Provence Revealed” or “Uncorked - Popping the top off Provence”

Any input will be much appreciated!

Thanks,
Paul.

Alice (alidiabin) | 9 comments Hi, long time lurker, first time poster.

My name is Alice, I currently live in New Zealand. I moved here from England when I was 11. I'm looking to move to Australia within the next year.

I have a degree in Psychology, but I currently work in call center.

I tend to read more non-fiction, so I'm looking to read more fiction, from different places around the world. Looking at my previous years; other than the US and UK, the other country I have read a lot of books from is Israel.

I also like reading about the Middle East/ North Africa and Scandinavia.

I'm interested in LGBTQI* books from around the world. I'm interested in the difference in experiences, compared to my own as a lesbian in a fairly liberal country.

I'm a fast reader, I can read two or three books on a week day. (I sneakily read between calls).

When I'm not reading, (which is rare) I'm writing the odd bit of fanfiction, or hanging out with my friends, spending far too much money on beer.

Happy reading :)

message 2174: by HomeInMyShoes (new)

HomeInMyShoes Hello everyone. In 2013 I took a statistical look at countries from which I had read an author: 26/195(+/- a few depending on who you ask.)

I decided to fix that. In 2014 I gave myself a challenge to read as many different countries as I could. I read more than 70 that year. I'm now at 108/195 (+/- a few) and am still trying to read more, although it is getting pretty hard to find titles now.

I've got a a map: World Reading Map and a blog, but the blog isn't really kept up so we'll ignore that.

message 2178: by Rosemarie (new)

Rosemarie | 3958 comments Hi, Paty. Welcome. It took me a while to figure out goodreads, but I did learn one important thing. The app is fast but you can do more things if you access goodreads through the internet. For example, you can edit or delete your own comments.

Hi, Paty! Welcome to the group! Like Rosemarie, I prefer the full site rather than the app. The app frustrates me with its lack of functionality.

Judah Knight | 4 comments My name is Judah Knight. I live in the Atlanta area. I'm married with six, awesome children. I'm an author, and the setting of my books thus far is in the Bahamas. I'm a scuba diver and a bit of an adventurer, so my books reflect this. I love to travel and I enjoy reading books with settings from other countries. I'm also a backpacker and I'm slowly hiking the Appalachian Trail. So far, I've hiked about half of it. Glad to be a part of the group.

Hello, Judah! Welcome to the group. We're neighbors - I live in the metro ATL, as well. Are you hiking the Appalachian Trail in segments? A friend of mine has been doing that and is about 2/3 of the way through. I plan on starting the GA end this summer.

message 2183: by Judah (new)

Judah Knight | 4 comments Hey Diane. It's a pleasure to meet you. I live on the south side of Atlanta. Yes, I'm a sectional hiker. I started hiking the AT some years ago, and I'm slowly making my way north. I've started trying to hike more miles with each trip now as I get farther north. I've got a writing/study retreat in VA in August, so I plan to hike a couple of days and end up in Harpers Ferry. I'll go back the end of September and hike about 125 miles north through PA. I wish I had time to just take off and finish the rest, but I'll have to stick to my sectional plan for now. I assume you'll start at Amicalola Falls this summer?? Where will you end?

Hello Paty. I spend a good bit of time in Mexico. I've been working with the Chinanteco people group outside of Tuxtepec for several years. I'm a writer, and one of the books I'm working on now takes place in Mexico. I'll be scuba diving in Veracruz this summer and doing more research about the Mesoamerican people. I plan to visit a couple of ruins. What part of Mexico are you from?

Judah, I live on the NW side of ATL. I don't anticipate that I will get too far on the AT this year. My son and I are only hiking for three days for one of his boy scout merit badges. We won't make it out of GA.

Ana Hello! :) I'm Ana and i live in Portugal. Reading is one of my favorite hobbies, but i'm new in reading clubs. I've been into the Classics, lately, but i also enjoy good crime novels, legal thrillers, historical novels, etc. I've been on goodreads for a while, but inactive. I had a hiatus some years ago, but i've recently got back to my reading addiction! Happy to join the group. Hopefully i'll have good recommendations and good discussions here ;)

Nicholas Kontis (wwwgoodreadscomnicholaskontis) | 2 comments Hi Guys,
At age 24, I left my native San Francisco on what was to be a last summer sojourn to the Greek Islands. Thirteen months later, I arrived back in SF with not a job prospect in site. I was pretty limited in the white collar world. As I mention, travel is life-changing. Somehow a light bulb went on and I ended up creating a job for myself. I started the first travel agency in the U.S. specializing in what I had just completed, an around the world trip. I was blessed to land in the field of travel. 85 countries visited and counting.
