My name is Alkmini and I am from Greece :)
I love reading books and I also love travelling, so I fell in love with this group!"
Hi, Alkmini! Welcome to the group! I fell in love with Greece! What part of Greece are you from?

Welcome to the group, Carroll!

Hello, Jenna Nicole (beautiful name, by the way). Welcome! Hopefully you will find some great books to love from around the world.

Hi, Mari (waves)! Welcome to the group! Reading is definitely an addiction to be proud of. Hospice nursing is tough stuff. I don't think I could ever do it. It definitely takes a special kind of person.

I love to travel, but I don't do it as much (except going back and forth from Australia to the US); so books allow me to travel, explore, and experience other cultures.
There is a wealth of information here; what a treasure for book lovers!

Hi, Erin! Welcome to the group! Love, love, love the blog! :)

Hi, Mouhsine! Welcome to the group!

Hey everyone! I'm new to this entire group-feature, so be patient with me! :D My name is Nina, and I'm a 20 year old psychology student from Norway. I have been studying now for 1,5 years, and have 3,5 to go! I love being active, and you can usually find me at the gym, by the lake, at a café or at the library. I absolutely love traveling, exploring new places and trying new activities. Nowadays I'm attempting to learn BodyBalance, and I believe it's a hobby that will stick with me for quite some time!

Hi, Nina! Welcome to the group! I searched on the internet for BodyBalance and it looks like a lot of fun. I love yoga and Pilates. I will have to look for a BodyBalance class in my area.

Thank you, nice to meet you, ReaderGirl! :) Libraries are such good places to spend time and relax!

Nice to meet you, Diane, and it's cool that we have something else in common in addition to books! If you already do Yoga and Pilates, I am pretty sure you will enjoy BodyBalance as well - it is a mix of those two and Tai Chi! Good luck with your search :D

I've spent most of my life living in Europe, so I'm a huge traveler and I love reading...so reading about travel is one of my favorite things to do!
Books (and movies) are a huge part of my trip planning and allow me to be armchair traveler when I can't really afford a trip because of time or money. :)
I'm fortunate enough to have done a lot of traveling, but I feel like there's always somewhere else to go, something else to see, and someone else to meet. I've enjoyed reading all of the book recommendations that have come through here and my list just keeps growing!
I just hope I can figure this all out! :)

Hi, Travel! Welcome to the group! Let me know how I can help you navigate the site.

Hi Erin,
I'll check out your blog. Sydney- Beautiful city and so fun. I'm sure to watch Sydney's fireworks on New Years as well. I'm new to the group as well.

Gloria, congratulations on your acceptance into Wellesley. One of my co-workers graduated from there and loved it. She tells me many stories about her experiences there.

My name is John and I'm all about some travel. I'm currently living in north Florida and write about all the little places I visit on the south Atlantic coast on my personal travel blog, www.coastalatlantictravel.com.
Admittedly I don't get out of the South much, so hopefully I'll be able to take a few literary tours of places around the world via the group :-) Looking forward to great interactions!

Thank you Diane! That's great, I'm really excited for the Wellesley education experience.
And welcome John!

Welcome to the group, John! You have some of my favorite local beaches on your blog.

I'm Linda. I've been on GR for several years now. I just discovered this group today by goggling "books set in McMurdo Antarctica." So this group came up!
I actually want to add a book to your list...

Hi, Zae! Glad to have you here!

Hi, Virginia! Welcome to the groups! What pathway of health sciences are you studying?

Thanks Diane for reintroducing Mrs Pollifax, she will be my Swiss choice.

Hi, Lorraine! Welcome to the group! I love Mrs. Pollifax.

My favorite topic! One of my degrees is in health sciences.

Just wanted to say hello to everyone and to say how much we are enjoying reading all your posts and comments! *Waves!*

Hi, Kathleen! Welcome to the group!

Hi Diane! I came here to study art history and never left. :) It is a wonderful city.

Hi Kathleen, I haven't heard of that book yet! I'm going to look it, thank you. The Netherlands is quite beautiful in a way. I'm originally from Seattle, which is located in the heart of the amazing Pacific Northwest, so I've been spoiled since birth having such great forests so close by! But you can't ride your bicycle around Seattle like you can here, and everything is so close you can catch the train if it's too far to bike! The long sandy coastlines and magnificent natural parks like the Hoge Veluwe, especially in the spring when everything is in bloom. The architecture is so old and quaint (compared to back home) and there are traditional windmills everywhere. So yes, I guess now that I think about it, the Netherlands is pretty beautiful. :)

I mostly liked it a lot, I'm enjoying books set in different parts Of the world, and "A Bend.." has a strong sense of place of central Africa around 1960. However, I was disturbed by a part in which a character beat up his girlfriend, who forgave him, when I felt he should have gone to jail. Generally I liked it and would recommend it though.

Last fantastic travel related reads were "The Orientalist" and "The Great Railway Bazaar".

Hi, George! Welcome to the group!

Hi, Jacob! Welcome to the group! Both of those books have been on my radar for a long time. I loved the book Ali and Nino: A Love Story, written by Kurban Said from the Orientalist. I heard he has an interesting history.
