Hi everyone! I am a 32-year-old psychologist from Australia and absolute bibliophile! About a year and a half ago, I set myself the challenge of reading my way around the world (230 countries: 1 book per country). I am blogging about my journey at: http://theliterarynomad.com. I am looking forward to sharing suggestions, reviews and general chat with you all!

I love your website!! I just took a quick peek...i'm blogging about some of my books in between other books that I review - speaking of, i need to get caught up on that!

Hi folks! I'm Jen, a single homeschooling mom from NE Ohio. My daughter and I are both unrepentant bibliophiles. She's 11 and I'm 39, but we enjoy a surprising number of the same books. Being at a point in my life where I'm making a symbolic new beginning, I decided to use my goodreads profile to chronicle only what I've read from the beginning of November, 2011. I was attracted to your group because I love, love, love a good setting. Also, I hardly know anyone on this site, and am looking to meet some fellow avid readers! The challenges sound interesting and fun!

Thanks Diane. I'm having fun looking through all the discussion topics for ideas, though I'll probably start with some stuff from the pile by my bed.

We had two kids, ages 8 and 10, participate last year with their Mom. Of course, my kids were the exact same age and I had absolutely no success in getting them on board! My daughter even reads several books a week and still won't budge. I'm still trying...
(laughs) Kids are like cats, I think. They only want to do stuff if it's their idea. I may ask her, but that would involve yanking her out of her current Sherlock Holmes rut, since I don't think that would stretch to more than 3 or 4 countries. Maybe we should tell them they're not allowed to participate, then they would want to...
i've found a few decent YA books for some of the different countries - it was kinda fun reading them - off the top of my head, I used YA for lithuania, zimbabwe, I have one for czechoslovakia as well
There are tons of YA books set all over the world. Lots of picture books, too, for younger readers. I have been purposely choosing a lot of books with foreign settings to read aloud to my kids. They have really been enjoying them and don't seem to have picked up on the "international" theme.
I thought about talking to my local libraries about a display of books from around the world for YA - they have all kinds of displays on a regular basis - could be kinda funi'm looking to get some volunteer hours and i can do the library

Hi GerIta, my sister used to live outside Madison, WI, and she used to tell us about the cold, cold winters. Hope you're staying warm.

Hi all! I'm Annina and I'm 29 and I live in Finland. I found this group by an accident, but it sounded so fun and I love lists and challenges so I decided to join.
I have dyslexia and english ain't my mother language so I'm hoping that you'll forgive my mistakes. And I'm just really slow reader so it takes ages to read 80 books. But I do love read and travel so this is perfect way to "travel" in my own bed.
I'm already planning my route Around the World
I am Debbie, and I live in Oregon USA. I have enjoyed creative pursuits after going to college and staying home to raise kids. I love painting and writing. I made jewelry, but I guess I burned out on that. I was really happy when I cleaned those zillions of little pieces of supplies out of the room to make a writing room. I've had one book published and am working on the second. I have very little reading time at this point in my life because I work and write, but my TBR is growing as I meet authors and get hooked on their books. My genre to read and write is English historical fiction. Nice to meet you all!
Hi...I'm Shelli, I live in Michigan.(USA) I have 3 boys. 2 are in college and I have an 8th grader. I also have 2 dogs. I moderate a group here on GR, where we have our own monthly reads and challenges, but I am interested in reading books from 80 different countries and all 50 states too. My challenges won't be able to be done in a year with all my other reading...but will be on-going. I hope that's ok. I am also impressed with all of your lists and organization by region etc. Mine is just a list!!! I joined this group because you all have such impressive lists, it's a great place to get ideas!

Hey, I'm Amanda. I live in CT and this is my first time doing this challenge. I'm excited to read my way through the world as I love reading and traveling. I'm not positive I can finish 80 books by September, but I'm going to give it my best effort!

Hi I am Dina and I am from Bosnia and Herzegovina. I am a electrical engineer. My passions are traveling and reading. Although they are linked because through the book I travel and when I travel I carry a book ;). Compliments to the idea of creating such a group.
Hi I'm Ahmad from Pennsylvania. I think I'm the only guy who has commented on this thread! I'm 23 and I write poetry. I read a lot and have done some traveling the past few years. Miami, LA, Toronto, London and Paris. Paris obviously being my favorite. I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you!

Hi everyone - I'm Lavinia, and I live in Seattle (originally from Florida, and moving in June to Washington DC for a year, then back to Seattle after that). I'm not new to Goodreads, but I'm new to groups on Goodreads and never heard of a reading challenge until about a week ago. (*gasp!*) I'm now working on 4 and am totally and irrevocably hooked. I look forward to interacting with all of you here. :)
