Hello, Douglas. Welcome to the group! I love your list of the things you love.

Welcome to the group, K.M.! Happy travels!

Welcome, Julia...from a retired elementary teacher, living near Toronto, Ontario, Canada. I am an armchair traveller too, concerning international travel, at least. This is a great group.

You are welcome. Let me know if you are interested in any of the challenges. Happy to help, and it takes awhile to figure out how things work. I even taught myself how to make a map for my countries that Ihave visited trough reading. I am not computer savy, but I manage. I am sure you will be way ahead of the game having been a high school teacher, no doubt with considerable computer expertise. One thing for sure, you will add lots of books to you TBR list.

Hi, Julia! Welcome to the group! I hope you will find lots of wonderful places to travel through books. It is so nice to be able to escape to a far away place just by opening a book.

I am Prashamsa. I am a 22-year old engineer from Nepal. Nepal is a small beautiful country in Asia and it hurts me so much when people say that have not heard of it.

Don't worry, there are also a lot of people who know where Nepal is :D
I have never been there but I associate it to colors: in nature, dresses and scents of good food.
I would like to receive good recommendations of books set in Nepal or by Nepalese writers.

Thank you, Julia!

Thanks! Added them to my wishlist.

So this upcoming year, my personal goal is to read as many ATW books I can fit into my schedule.

Welcome, Shannon! Happy to have finally "met" you!

Hi, Gabriella! Welcome to the group!

Hi my name is Tia I actually joined this group earlier in the year but wasn't really ready to start my journey with reading around the world books, but I am back and excited to making this year my year to complete my 50 states challenge and hopefully a good amount of international books. I look forward to chatting with everyone and trying out all the new challenges for 2014.

Hi Prashamsa - I have Nepal lined up as a destination on my Reading the World journey (www.readingtheworld.co.uk) - I have "Arresitng God in Kathmandu" by Nepalese author Samrat Upadhyay. Looking forward to it!

Welcome to the group, Honora! Looking forward to discussing books with you, too!

Hi, Ash! Welcome to the group!

Welcome, Tia! Glad to have you in the group. I look forward to seeing where in the world your books take you.

I just finished Swimming to Antarctica: Tales of a Long-Distance Swimmer which takes long distance swimmer Lynne Cox all over the world.
Just prior to that I read To the Moon and Timbuktu: A Trek through the Heart of Africa. Both books were fascinating and easy reads.
Hope to follow along with you all and contribute as best I can.

I still remember how “The historian” from Elizabeth Kostova made me wish I could take some time off work, grab my backpack and explore Istambul!! (have not been there – yet – but I will!!)
Have a nice day!

I have just published a book about the adoption of my second child, a little boy from China.
It was a wonderful experience, not only for the adoption itself, but because China is a Country I love very much. I had the chance to travel for almost a month in the Province of Shanxi and in Bejing and visit with my son places that I could not have visited as a tourist.
In a couple of days my first giveaway initiative will start. If you are interested, have a tour on my author's page.
All the best!
Roberto from Milan, Italy

Roberto G. Ferrari

Welcome to the group, Amy! Both of those books are on my want-to-read list. I will have to move them further up. Happy reading!

Hi Tuanita! Welcome! I want to see both Portugal and France someday soon. I hope your studies in school are still allowing you some free time for leisure reading.

Hi, Jan! Gosh, I wouldn't know where to start with suggestions. There are just so many wonderful books and wonderful places to read about! Have a wonderful book journey in 2014!

Hi, Hazel! What a wonderful thing you are doing for the library and your community! I hope your library will continue to grow and thrive.

Welcome, Roberto! Congratulations on the adoption of your son and the publication of your book!

BRAVO Hazel!! (my mother's lovely name too). It's power to the people and it works. Nine years ago the city intended to shut (with 2 months notice) our neighborhood recreation center. Now it is livelier than ever, maintained better and the happiest place in the neighborhood because the whole neighborhood volunteered to take it over.

Welcome, Megan!

Congratulations on the arrival of your niece!

I teach, travel, and write. I have released my memoir "When the Cherry Blossoms Fall: My Life as an English Teacher in Japan" available on amazon. My favourite books are those that are no..."
Welcome to the group, Kim!

I live on the beautiful Oregon coast where many authors have found comfort as well as seclusion and penned some wonderful stories. I share my home with "the evil twins" (two little dogs something along the lines of devito and schwartzenegger) and a great husband.
Because of my active lifestyle and a love of sewing reproduction victorian clothing both for competition and fun I don't have time to sit and read (and besides I just fall asleep) so I've found audiobooks to be my perfect match. Admittedly the audio selection from the statewide online library system is not perfect but we look forward to increased titles soon.
I joined this group a few weeks ago as it sounded like fun traveling atw and across the usa with so many people through books. I've perused through the various threads and am excited to see what others are reading and what they think. With members from all over the world there's knowledge about and discussions of so many books I've never heard of and I'm sure to find favorites among them.
Happy reading now and always.
