Katie | 1 comments I'm Katie and I'm fairly new to goodreads and definitely new to this group! I'm a commercial real estate paralegal by trade and a constant reader and competitive equestrian for fun. I used to do a bit of international traveling (Italy, Mexico, Venezuela) and still do travel a bit domestically, but these days most of my travel to foreign lands is done through books. I look forward to visiting and discussing some new worlds through the books we read.

I'll bet yoga is quite awesome in India. I am an armchair tour guide because I'm not able to do much actual traveling these days between work, school, kids, and general lack of funds. :(

Jocelyne Lebon | 55 comments There is lot to be said for armchair tour guide, armchair travel and armchair adventures in general: no packing, no long waits at the airport, no jetlag, no weird bugs, no huge investments, and still a lot of fun. After all, we can go farther and faster with our imagination. So there is still an awful lot to enjoy from books, videos and music of far away lands.

I too loved Prague and Ireland. Is Fussen the town in South Bavaria? If so, I was there too and loved it. Actually, we traveled along the Romantische Strasse, the romantic road, or something like that and all the medieval towns along the way were so quaint and stunning! Today it is 94 in LA. I hope you have nice weather in SF. I plan to plop myself some place cool with Cleopatra!

Justine | 14 comments Hello everyone - I've been lurking on this group for a while but just started actively participating.

I'm 28 from Detroit, MI. Always been a traveller but now I'm on my second year of living abroad. First was 1.5 years in Georgia and now I'm living and working in Poland. I am a librarian by degree but an English Teacher by trade. I'm hoping to work in the middle east next year and save the money to travel to South America the long way (through Asia and N America via Bering Strait) in 2014-2015 Dream big!

Thank God for Kindle! Nice to meet everyone here.

Michael (micky74007) Hi, my name is Mike, or you can call me Micky. Live in Deerfield Beach FL; before that, 20 years in Texas, and before that 22 years in Detroit. Left Michigan in 1971, never to return but for a few and far in-between visits.
Found goodreads earlier this year and am having so much fun!
Read everything, but mostly fiction.
Love animals, especially dogs.
Live in the city, wish I lived in the country.
Perfer mountains to the beach.

Anthony Karakai | 2 comments Hi everyone,

I'm an Australian author signed with Trident Media Group in NYC. I'm stoked that this group exists, because this is the precise reason I decided to become an author. Everything I write is with the aim of inspiring people to visit those places. I think literature is undervalued as one of the biggest driving forces behind travel. Forget tv, radio and shiny posters; I've read books which have forced me to travel far and wide, and so I hope to do the same by communicating the beautiful places I have visited. My book Vagabond by Anthony Karakai talks about the importance of travelling, and what it does for the soul.

Deerfield is just north of Ft Lauderdale on the Atlantic side of Florida. The highest elevation down here is Mt Trashmore, the county dump. So far this spring has been beautiful--wet, but fairly mild temps.
Hurricane season starts in three weeks and last until Novermber. Not my most favorite time of year.

I'm Stephanie from Ontario, Canada and love to read and travel! If I'm not travelling I'm reading about new and exotic locales. So excited to join this group!

message 783: by Esther (new)

Esther (nyctale) | 102 comments Hello,
I am Esther, from Quebec, Canada.

I will not do the 80 books challenge, as I would definitely fail. Not only I am not sure to make it to 80 books in a year, but I read a lot of SF and Fantasy, not really World challenge material. :)
I will probably do a Circumnavigators thread tough, when I am done digging around to get the rules. This will help me get off my beaten path and explore new places/authors.

I look forward participating the monthly reads and other smaller challenges when I can.

Matthew Webb | 1 comments Hi Everyone. My name is Matt and I love in the UK. I work as a Paramedic and have also done some editing which has led to producing two books so far, one written by me and one by a friend.
I live with my partner, Helen, our daughter Madeleine and two cats, Alice and Pheobe. I like to write when I can and read pretty much constantly. It's been really interesting reading about all the people in this group and the book recommendations are fantastic. There is no better feeling than to find a new author you like and know that they have a series of books you can explore.

Noelle Clark | 3 comments Hello everyone.
I'm an Australian author who loves to travel, and loves to write. So, it seems to me that I get to combine both of my passions. I've just posted my book set in Cambodia in the book shelves. It's called Let Angels Fly. If you've ever explored the ancient wonders of Angkor Wat, seen the remarkable town of Siem Reap, or if you love Cambodian food, you might like this book. I fell in love with Cambodia and just had to use it as the backdrop to this book. Great to meet you all. Cheers, Noelle.
