message 4: by Court (new)

message 5: by Daisy (new)

Daisy My friend has basically read the books, because I tell him too much.

message 6: by Kelsey (new)

Kelsey (kelseynicole) | 52 comments wait..why would it be weird?

message 7: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca (nickjj1000) | 13 comments because of the relationship between Edward and Bella... its hard to explain

message 8: by [deleted user] (new)

um well the guys at our school are reall perverted....soooooo unless they are gay its weird

message 9: by Jake (new)

Jake hey i read them for the vampires... not really the story

message 10: by [deleted user] (new)

ok well thats good.....hahaha

message 11: by Maryann (last edited Feb 25, 2009 02:37AM) (new)

Maryann (uorgirl) | 35 comments No, I don't think it is weird. I loaned my books to my sister's bf and he loved them! My sister hates to read, but since I just left them at her house I thought she might just pick them up, but she didn't. He did! Now that he is finished he gave them back. So, my son who is almost 13, finished Twilight, New Moon, and Eclipse in two weeks, wants to read BD, but I am still holding out on that one. I mean, it is not graphic or too descriptive, but there is so many sexual innuendos, that I am not sure I should give it to him just now. What do you all think? I mean, we have had the "talk" thanks to his health class, but I am still unsure.

message 12: by [deleted user] (new)

thats why i think its akward but if he is mature enough the sure...well idk

message 13: by Court (new)

Court well, i think you should let him read BD. if he's 13 then, believe me, there are A LOT more innuendos that he hears at school and they're worse than what's in BD.

message 14: by Jake (new)

Jake i read!

message 15: by nina (new)

nina (ladeeda) Why would it be awkward?
A little strange for the guy to actually be INTERESTED in a book like Twilight, but maybe he's into guys? haha.

message 16: by Janepage (new)

Janepage My cousin (who is a guy) read the entire series and it isn't awkward, not to mention my countless other guy friends.

message 17: by Janepage (new)

Janepage And Caroline, I totally think guys reading Twilight is the hottest!

message 18: by [deleted user] (new)

I dont think guys reading twiight is hot...to girly of a book

message 19: by Naomi (new)

Naomi (catfanatic) Maryann, i'd totally give it to him. I started the series when i was 12, and I survived. Plus I'm only a year older than him, and I would've died having to wait.
i think it's fine for guys to read any books they want. Do you hear guys saying: "Oh! Girls can't read this book 'cuz its too boyie" or whatever? no, I think its totally fine. i know this guy whos reading twilight right now, and some of my friends asked him if he thought it was akward to be reading from a girls POV or if it was too girly or anything, and he said he loved it. (as far as I know hes not gay.)

message 20: by Janepage (new)

Janepage Almost half the guys at my school are reading Twilight for book reports!

message 21: by Court (new)

Court probably from the assumption that anything writtten in a girl's POV is a girly book. And there might be action in it but I think there's more of the "romancey" theme in it.

message 22: by Vivian (new)

Vivian | 326 comments yeah, i think also because bella describes edward in like a girls point of view, like how hes so good looking, etc. which maybe relates more to girls, cuz thats how we see guys too...

message 23: by Jamain (new)

Jamain (justcallmejj) | 117 comments Nope, actually I'm so happy

message 24: by nina (new)

nina (ladeeda) Yeah, I agree Vivan.
The theme of romance is prominent throughout the whole series, and more than half of the book is Bella describing how yummy Edward is.
How could this appeal to a guy?

There is actually barely any adventure... Meyer leads up to it, but then simply chooses to skip over it.
Dissapointing.

message 25: by Christina♥ (new)

Christina♥ | 279 comments I don't think its that weird but it is a little bit because notice how many girls are like "I love Jacob" or "I love Edward!" Because the books make u fall for the characters. And Its written from a girl perspective...and when i'm reading the books i am so into its like that could be me. idk would a guy think that? Well i guess we all survied the perspective with Jacob and hes a boy so maybe guys don't think its that weird for them to b reading from Bella's perspective...But i asked my sisters bf if he would read them and he laughed...but my sister is making him come to the movie...he said he thinks its lame, but hes like a football player and stuff and every guy is different.

If i saw a guy reading i would think its so cute...but not if they were reading Twilight.

message 26: by Christina♥ (new)

Christina♥ | 279 comments Boys probably don't get as muchh out of the books as us girls do. Do they write on their blogs and stuff "I love Bella Swan" or "Team Bella" or "I love Alice". i don't think so. Girls relate more to the books i thinkk...(this is just my opinion) but i think more boys might read Midnight Sun. =)

message 27: by Vivian (new)

Vivian | 326 comments i finally know a guy that reads twilight! a ton of my girl friends read it, but i finally know a guy that reads it! my friend Jordi was reading it today and i was like :O!! lol

message 28: by Cira (new)

Cira (loveistheanswer106) | 22 comments Jose read Twilight, vivian. He and Morgan started this thing in second period where he's Edward (Hilarious, I know), Morgan's Bella, Ramon's Jacob, and they think I should be Rosalie but I hate Rosalie. The whole idea is pretty lame. lol. Jordi's the guy right?

message 29: by Vivian (new)

Vivian | 326 comments well josey is a loser :) he doesnt count. and yes, Jordi is a guy. haha u should be alice!! it fits! i wanna be somebody!! hmmmm...who would i be?

message 30: by Cira (new)

Cira (loveistheanswer106) | 22 comments ooh, is Jordi cute? I wanted to be Alice. Idk who you'd be. Maybe a combo of Alice and Bella.

message 31: by Vivian (new)

Vivian | 326 comments eh... not in the way ur thinking. but him and some of the other guys are hysterical. ohhh! i want to be a character! not just a mix of 2. :( i could be....i could maybe be angela, but i wanna be a cullen! :@

message 32: by Vivian (new)

Vivian | 326 comments dude! now i keep thinking of josey as edward! ahhhh!!!! i need to go watch the trailer again or something to get rpatz back in my head!

message 33: by Cira (new)

Cira (loveistheanswer106) | 22 comments Just know that you can invite all the cute Cape guys you want to your birthday party. dude it's so lame. Why do you even want to be a part of it? we'll make our own one. I'll be Alice, you can be Bella if you want. No wait, Bella has edward. It depends on whose Edward. Ha, Jose as Edward. That's funny. I feel for you, but I don't see how you could get him mixed up with Rpatz.

message 34: by Vivian (new)

Vivian | 326 comments none of the cuta guys read twilight! grrr! rpatz is smexy. (haha rachelle)

message 35: by Cira (new)

Cira (loveistheanswer106) | 22 comments No, Erin said that remember? lol. I miss her. NOT! Like every time I go to the library she's there with Brandi and Brandi's boyfriend. And they never stop making out! I want to barf!

message 36: by Vivian (new)

Vivian | 326 comments NOOOO! rachelle said that. she used to say it all the time in like 7th grade. dont you remember? THEN erin started saying it thinking she was cool.

message 37: by Cira (new)

Cira (loveistheanswer106) | 22 comments I know. I was joking. Remember when she first said it and we were like "OMG! We have to tell rachelle!" Duh.

message 38: by Vivian (new)

Vivian | 326 comments oh yeah...i forgot...

message 39: by Ashlynn (new)

Ashlynn I find it alittle awkward...

message 40: by Vivian (new)

Vivian | 326 comments i dont think its really akward seeing guys reading the first 3 books, but seeing them read Breaking Dawn might be a little weird...

message 41: by Christina♥ (new)

Christina♥ | 279 comments yeah i agree...lol...yeah...okay...that will be really weird.

message 42: by [deleted user] (new)

I don't find it awkward when a guy reads the Twilight series. It would be cool to have a conversation with one about the non-girly aspects. Of course, it might get awkward if you got into the details of the romance, but you wouldn't have to talk about that.

totally agree.

message 44: by Mellady77 (new)

Mellady77 Stibich | 1149 comments I know an 11 year old boy who is reading it (currently 1/4 way through Eclipse) and he loves it. I only think it's awkward when other boys start making fun of him and stop when they see all the girls talking with him about the books. He told me he wants to be Edward when he grows up.

message 45: by [deleted user] (new)

Hehe, hopefully a more ideal version of Edward. Rather than exactly like him.

message 46: by Mellady77 (new)

Mellady77 Stibich | 1149 comments Well, you know, he's in fifth grade, last year he wanted to be Batman!

message 47: by [deleted user] (new)

*attempts to hum Batman theme*

message 49: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (wolfgirl637) | 152 comments It makes me happy when I see a guy reading twilight.

message 50: by [deleted user] (new)

I know, it's like there's more than meets the eye to the books, for them to appeal to other genders as well.
