they've apologized for the non availability and given me a 100 rs. discount for each book not got, but I have to spent Rs. 1000 in order to avail the offer :D
I dont think they'd do so as its already 3 months

message 256: by Rajuda (new)

Rajuda | 20 comments Homeshop18 certainly has an edge over others in terms of both price and delivery. Regardless of the rider, their goodwill gesture of offering a gift certificate of Rs 100 on orders confirmed but not executed deserves to be applauded.

Prior to the purchase, for maximum discount on the cover price of a book, it is better to visit sites like 'this ya that'. You can read further details at: http://www.teega.com/2012/05/your-sea...

Gurdeesh Sethi | 12 comments For Delhiites, there is a second hand bookstore in Shalimar Bagh AL market by the name of Bobby Book Store.

You can get books like mills n boons, the chiclit books or by authors like Sidney Sheldon,John Grisham,Arthur Hailey,Danielle Steele,Agatha Christie and some bestsellers

He gives you the book at half the price or less and buys back the same books at half the price of what you paid him for the book.

anybody aware of any other bookstores in Delhi?

message 264: by Ashish (new)

Gayatri | 38 comments I too prefer buying books from flipkart.com!

message 269: by Shivani (new)

Shivani Gupta | 817 comments I had been to Daryaganj market here in Delhi. It is a mammoth market. You can easily get a book in very good condition for just Rs.50/- and a new brand book for Rs.100/- or Rs.150/-. I was wondering to look at the prices of the new ones. But in that case, if you find a book worth reading at low prices, it is a good bargain. Purchasing books from there requires a lot of time. Since, books are available only on Sundays, I don't mind going there once in 3-4 months and buying a good stock at one time. The market starts in the morning and goes on till the evening. I went with my husband and kids, the kids were so amazed to see such a huge collection but got tired after two hours of toil. It is better to go alone.

Raghunath (sriraghunathjoshi) Landmarkonthenet.com and flipkart.com are the cheapest guys. Haven't tried uread.com yet. :) Never buy books directly in stores. These guys ARE the cheapest.

message 275: by [deleted user] (last edited Aug 26, 2012 05:13AM) (new)

For cash strapped book worms like me, try http://www.friendsofbooks.com and as already posted earlier http://www.secondhandbooksindia.com/. They have an awesome collection of Second hand books. If you are cash strapped but hungry and ready to hoard books, try them out. I had bought around 12 books this month, and they were all delivered in time. Again this is only for cash strapped people, whose economy is in Dire Straits, like me.
Affluent people go and buy first hand books and support the author :P :D

The best way is to use comparision sites like http://thisyathat.com/ or http://www.indiabookstore.net/ to know which online store gives you better offer for the book you want to purchase..

I would like to now seek guidance for getting Indrajaal comics, if I can. Some of you may remember the Phantoms, Mandrakes, Bahadur series. They used to be published by Benett Coleman. Any known sources?

try Flipkart !! www.flipkart.com

message 295: by [deleted user] (last edited Sep 07, 2012 11:19PM) (new)

But FLipkart has become a CHOR, no on a second thought a DACOIT!!! No free delivery, if the order in not above 300????????????????????? I mean what is this??????? And, the discounts, they provide more discounts on perfumes than they do on books nowadays.
And, if I speak of delivery, they deliver very nicely, through their own logistics, within a city. But, once you step out of the city limits, get yourself a cardiologist, coz u gonna suffer from serious case of anxiety related heart aches. They have stopped using high end couriers, resorting to market trailers like Aramex(this is not Saudi Arabia, where Aramenx is the KING!!!!). These people managed to send my MP3 palyer to Serampore in Bradhwan district, instead of Serampore in Hooghly(i guess they are unknown to the usage of PINCODE).

The choice is thin, but nowadays I go with Homeshop18.

Might be HS18's courier partner, BlueDart doesn't service your area. Chk out that in their website using their location finder tool - http://www.bluedart.com/locationfinde.... If they're not servicing your area, then try Landmarkonthenet.com, they deliver goods thru Aramex Couriers.

same thing has happened to me at HS18 - they deliver books to my doorstep , but apparel, kitchenware etc. are not delivered (maybe the traders they are dealing with in those items do delivery only to certain well known cities)
