i hope people are trying to keep the tbr piles down mine seems to growing whenever i get it down to a reasonable level. :( why does it do that? :) cant help it with some of the bargains that you can get. :)

Mine is also a 'Jacob's Ladder'. It just gets longer and longer. I need to stop eating, drinking (not alchol), sleeping, going to work, doing housework, shopping, anything really!

Even my library TBR is getting out of hand! As well as my own allowance, I use my husbands card (he barely reads a book every 2 months) and my two daughters allowances, (just the part they don't use themselves). Collectively, we are permitted 46 books and I think we have 35 / 36 right now. Of that 35, 28 are mine! When will I learn?!

I have nearly 2000 including all my ebooks I haven't added on here. Hence I have a library! I also use the library a lot too especially for series of books I want to read and can't find them in charity shops.

My book addiction is serious!

I am in denial believing my tbr to be near 100, only 37% out and rising with a recent order of Nesbo's Harry Hole series. I avoided adding Mr Gently.

Recent holiday trips to Scotland and Portugal were just break even on the reduction front.

(coming out of the closet here) I do buy books for my Nook, also have places to get free books all the time, or once a week freebies. also freeboosky is a good place to get free ones, for Nook and Kindle. I am on bookhaven on facebook, people recommend books on there. I just can't do the sugar sync thing, so I prefer to buy or get any free ones I like on B&N. I have a large amount (for me) to read yet! I see a book that catches my attention, I buy it. only up to 6 every 2 weeks (payday) ok, feel so better sharing this! lol. please add me if you like. ladytrekker2008@yahoo.com I love sharing books. I do work, no WIFI there, so any requests or notifications have to wait til I get home please.

I seem to be acquiring a lot of books at the moment - some free, all reduced, both for my kindle and paperbacks. We had our Visa bill the other day and my husband got quite twitchy about the Amazon Downloads! The trouble is that I think I "comfort buy" with books - have a few things on my mind at the moment and the horrible weather doesn't help. Oh well, I'll try to be sensible:)

Angela I know I definitely comfort buy when it comes to books. The worst thing I can do is hit the book store after a stressful day at work. I cant help it though...better books than something worse!! My TBR pile is growing :( but one day it will be my READ pile :)

My paper book TBR shelves are only 200 books full but my Kindle is over 1300 and growing. I have a free download addiction and, altho I have figuratively chucked a few of them away because they weren't worth reading, I am finding some very nice books and authors.

My TBR pile is like my ironing pile - I make a little progress, then go back to my old ways! So...I have a cupboard full of un-ironed clothes and book shelves full of un-read books:))Luckily, it stopped stressing me out a good while ago!

Too scared to count, but it is a whole floor-to-ceiling bookcase, double-stacked in places! I try to be good, but we have a used book sale at work (a public library) that I can just help myself to (bad), and several other local libraries have huuuge book sales in the summer which culminate in "pay $5 for a bag and fill it" as we move into autumn: I'm still catching up with the last two years' bags full (very bad - last year I paid $15 for around $500 worth of books). I also went to a conference recently where publishers were literally pushing advance reading copies into my hands! I'm getting better at giving up on a book I don't like, and much better at getting rid of them when I've finished, if it's something I'll never read again. But there simply aren't enough reading hours in the day

Haha!! I thought I'd improve once I retired, but it just hasn't happened! My husband sometimes asks where such-and-such is and can usually give the answer:"In the ironing pile!"

My solution to this is not to buy anything that needs ironing! Queen of man-made fibres that's me!

Been off work for 3 weeks with bad back, can't sit for long so only 1 chapter at a time before i have to moving around, but have reduced the ironing pile to only half a basket .. Very good for me as its normally at least 2 on the go...

My TR pile hasn't gotten any better since I last posted. Its gotten much worse since I have started my blog because I keep getting requests to review. I hate to have to start turning ppl down but at this rate I'll never get caught up.

Even though I have three books on the go, my pile just keeps getting bigger. It's got worse since I got a kindle as books are so accessible now and I keep adding samples. The most I ever read was 4 books in a week but that was made up of sunny days in the garden off work. Time to book a holiday.

I've finally decided that trying to get my tbr pile under control is pointless, so I'm not going to try anymore.

Term ended on friday afternoon, since then I've cleared 6 books of my tbr pile (4 real and 2 kindle)but I've added another three - although that is amazon's fault.

I think I've finally accepted that I'll never reduce my tbr pile to single figures. Even if I was to give up working, not buy any more books and do nothing but read I've still got enough books to last at least another thirty years.
Oh and the chances of me never buying another book? Absolutely zilch :-)

I'm in the same boat as you Karen. I had a rule not to add more books to my "to read" than I had in my "read" shelves here on Goodreads, but I couldn't stick to that rule. I get a lot of recommendations and then I find other books here that I want to read and then all the free or low cost e-books and I don't want to forget about them so now I just have to accept that I'll never reduce my tbr pile to single figures, maybe not even double figures.

Mine is growing at an alarming rate. I work in a library and every Tuesday and Friday we get a delivery of new books and I can't resist looking and adding to my list, oops! It gets even harder when other readers recommend books to read or I'm being given free arcs to read.

Mine is an ever-increasing pile - both real and kindle books. Doesn't bother me any more...just love having loads of books :)
