I meant to read this books, i think it is a series.
Paranormal.

Its about a young girl coming into her power and this vampire trying to warn the elders that the young naturi is very powerful. The council of elder is brushing this aside.

Sorry that is all I remember except it is about the naturi.

Ok, the Naturi part is reminding me of a short story I read not too long ago. I don't have time to search for it now, but I will look when I get home from the Pampered Chef party and the store.

Well, I checked the story that I thought was tied in with this--but its not that one. I know I've read something about Naturi in an anthology semi-recently, but unfortunately, I have no idea what anthology. And, well, I have about 3000 books (or possibly a few more) so it will probably be a LONG time before I find the right story.

The Vampire Huntress Legend series by L.A. Banks has all of these features. I think you're describing the second book in particular, The Awakening.

I was thinking LA Banks too, but she is the Neteru, and I don't remember anything about a Council of Elders or anyone NOT believing she is powerful...seems in that series it is well known....
