Getting to know you .....
Hello I'm Sam, or Niv. That's a random nickname one of my friend's at school gave me and it kinda stuck as an online name. I live in the south too but more south east near to brighton I really love living down here but I'm kinda stuck in a village so can get bit dull occasionally really nice walks and views about though!
I really really love hula-hooping, discovered it through a friend last year and have been teaching myself tricks and meeting up with brighton hoopers as much as I can around work. If I'm stressed it's nice to just nip outside and work off the frustrations on the hoop or in a lush bath! I spend a lot of my spare time going to the gym too I think I've become quite addicted mainly to Zumba and Body Combat! hehe!
I also love reading (hence why I'm here) and am always keen to find those rare gems that people recommend, I also put reading to one side when I went to uni 6 years ago but since I got my kindle I've been reading loads! So nice to lose yourself in a book (or e book)!
I think that's all about me. So nice getting to know people more! :)
Hello I'm Jo. I've had my nose stuck in a book from a young age and like reading pretty much anything. I keep books I like so have got boxes full of them in my spare room/airing cupboard etc much to the bemusement of my family who can't understand how you can read a book you've already read once. I think of it the same as watching a favourite film again though and have a few I will read over and over again.
I like to lose myself in a book too but sometimes get carried away and realise I've spent half a day reading. I don't have a kindle, although I probably should as it would save me some space.
Umm, what else - I live in Cambridgeshire and have a cat, a dog and 2 chickens :)

Hello, I'm Naomi. Naymee on the forum. I've been all round quiet for ages as there has been two years of an absconding ex husband, three traumatised kids, me going quietly nuts and gradual recovery. One of the things I feel most acutely is the loss of the things I used to enjoy - Lush forum and reading books being two of them. So here I am, back with renewed purpose. I fully intend to get back into the community and enjoy the books I used to love once more!
Hi, I'm Becky (Billiesue on the forum). I've just graduated from university with a Zoology degree and am now without anything to study for the first time in my life! I seem to have thrown myself into reading (although I've always been a big reader) and becoming vegan. I keep my books too but am trying not to do it as much because I don't have the space. I signed up to this website last week and am loving it at the moment so am glad that there is now a lushy group!
Hello, I'm Sophia. I was brought up near Bournemouth but moved to Greece when I was 19, where I had various jobs including waitressing, teaching English and singing. I came back to England 8 years ago and joined Lush mail order in 2008.
I've always loved reading, but started a book blog in December and since then am reading loads more (I'm on my 70th book this year!). I find I'm reading better quality books too and have so many ideas for books I want to read I can't wait to get to them all. It's always more fun to read along with others so this should be fun!

Hello, I'm Claire (Claireiow on the forum!) I've read books for as long as I can remember, my family think I take after my Grandad as he was always a big reader. If I have a spare day I have been known to read a full book, although at present things are a bit up in the air with me,so it takes a couple more days to get through them. I don't currently have a book on the go, although do have a very big pile next to my bed to work through.
I don't keep all my books, but the ones I don't keep get passed onto my Mum, who then passes them onto a friend etc.
Heya! I'm Nicky (ImMe on the forum), I'm 22 and from the West Coast of Scotland.
I've always been a book nut and used to read 4 books a week when I was younger (YA ones so could fly through them). I have a crazy cat called Mia who seems to not like me reading as she always wants a cuddle whenever I'm reading.
I always carry a book in my handbag which might be a bit strange (but then again I carry a cup-of-soup in my bag too..), right now I have One Day by David Nicholls in my bag, haven't started reading it yet but it looks good!
As of October I will be starting to work towards my BA English Literature degree with the OU with the Arts Past & Present course. Looking forward to it as i'm an arty farty person and I'm looking forward to actually working towards my degree, catering it towards creative writing (hopefully landing me a job in publishing in a few years!).
Ok I think I might have said a bit too much haha!

Hi I'm Sarah (Aliantha on the forum). I live in Eaglescliffe, which is is Teesside with my BF and I work in Middlesbrough at a CAB.I love reading and I also always have a book with me. I get the train a lot so I use that time for reading. OH bought me a kindle a couple of months ago. He said it was so I'd have less to carry around but I think it was to stop the bookshelves overflowing any further. It hasn't worked though I'm still buying more books.
Hi I'm Emma (emmaissocoollike on the forum). I live in Dublin, 2 Lushes ;) and I'm back in school in two weeks starting the Leaving Cert course so hopefully I'll still be able to come on here!I've always loved reading, and my bookshelves are absolutely stuffed (I always read books more than once) so I'm only allowing myself to buy eBooks from now on. I can still wander around a bookshop for hours though!
I want to study Psychology in college and eventually do something in research, I do a lot of work with disability (especially children) so I think I'll probably end up specialising in that. I'm starting an evening lecture course in October, I can't wait :) I'm also starting an Advanced Sign Language course around the same time.
It's lovely getting to know you all better with these posts! Xx
Hey I'm Hannah! I'm in Sunderland with my hubby and almost 2 year old and I love reading but have completely neglected it for a few years. I need to make more time for reading now!(Kirsty, I met hubby through PP! I remember your name too! I couldn't tell you if we met or not but I played for 4-5 years or so. I was Cherryangel and hubby was Lysear/Lysaer/Jieret depending on who he felt like being at the time!)
Lovely group and I'm looking forward to getting back into reading!
Hi I'm Ani.I'm 24 and living in Manchester. I've read loads since I was little and I'm back in the routine of going to the library weekly but I also have a big pile of books at home I want to get through. I get a little carried away. I love spending my weekends in charity shops buying new books. When I get on the bus in the morning with a novel and see others reading too instead of listening to music it makes me feel warm inside.
I also have a slight list obsession so I took 10 'Top 100 Best Novels' lists and made my own list of those that appeared more than 3 times. There are 64 of them and I will read them all. Apart from Middlemarch, which I started a year ago...
Hi, I'm Danae. Try saying "the nigh(t)" in your head and that's what my name is supposed to sound like, heehee. I'm ten of spades on the forum. I'm 36 and I live in Athens, Greece. I lived in Bournemouth for a year during my MA, I discovered Lush on a trip to London. I'm a web designer/developer specializing in Flash programming, I've been self-employed for the past 6 years.I've always believed you miss out a lot of a book's essence if you read it translated, and since most of them are in english, I buy them en masse from Amazon - until last time when I discovered the joy of bookdepository.com. And bonus! they're much cheaper too, hehe - books in Greece are very expensive because most publishing houses use thick quality paper and proper printing, a good thing yes but not when it takes the price of an average book to 18 euros (roughly 16 pounds), eeek!
I like books that are written sort of matter-of-factly and leave the explaining of situations and guessing of motives to the reader, that's why I like to read theater plays. I love science fiction but my absolute favorite is a nice dystopia. And I have a thing for reading alternate versions of the Jesus story, so if you come across any, poke me!
Nice to get to know everyone, hi all!

Hi all, I'm Penny, a bookworm since teeny - and can't be without one about my person (in my handbag too Nicky). I had a reading break for a bit after finishing my English Lit & Drama degree a few years back, and resolutely only read chicklit after just too many years of classic and contemporary fiction, but now I'll read most anything.
Other things about me, when I'm not reading I'm baking and writing about it, or crafting, or running Brownies and Guides. I tend to be busy busy busy, but having started a new job I'm away from home a couple of nights a week so am alternating between reading and embroidery at a much slower pace.
Lovely to 'meet' everyone :)
Hello everyone, I'm Angela. I was born and raised in Darlington but I now live in Aberdeen with my fiance and grumpy old rabbit. Currently a f/t sales associate in a jewellers, but I'm putting out CVs for something a little better.I love reading, but I don't have the space or money for all the books I want, so I have a Kindle. I love anything horror, sci-fi or fantasy. I'm also a big fan of comics and graphic novels, which is a shame I cant get them on the kindle!
Hello everyone, I'm Ness (Violet74 on the forum). I love books and like to browse the reviews on Amazon to find new treasures ... I'd love to find more time to get through the pile of books that I've currently got stacked up. I do love the escapism in reading.
I like historical fiction and some fantasy mainly I guess ... but I do read allsorts. Favourite writers that I keep going back to are Angela Carter, Graham Joyce and Sarah Waters.
I live in Crewe, Cheshire with husband John and two children. I love live music and photography. I'm 37 and work as a dispenser.
Nice to be part of this with you all! x

When I first played PP it was really busy and I loved going to Atlantis but when I went back to it it was really quiet. So funny that you remember my id and that's how you met your hubby - geeks ;)

Hi, I am Kerry (CSandl). I have always loved reading and even though I now have 3 children, I read every night before I go to sleep! I love any sort of crime, mystery or fantasy fiction, and have a pile of 30 books TBR by my bed and another about 50 on my kindle. Perhaps I need to give up work.......I live I Kirkham near Preston and teach Maths for my day job.

Γειά σου Δανάη! Have you tried The Good Man Jesus and the Scoundrel Christ? It's by Philip Pulman and tells the gospel story but with twin brothers called Jesus and Christ. I haven't read it yet but it sounds intriguing and should be up your street.

It's on the shelf, waiting to be read! I was going to start it now but thought I'd be more appropriate for Easter, so I'm saving it :D
Whereabouts from Greece is your family from?
Give a kiss to Bournemouth for me!

My father's from Thessaloniki originally but has lived in Corfu since before I was born. I lived in Zakynthos for 11 years and I still miss it. If only you still lived in Bournemouth; I would love to find some Greek friends here, but we're a rarity in this area!

Hi all! I'm Keshia, kesizzle on the forum.I'm from London, still here too.
Since I was little, I always had my noise in a book. I studied English Lit (and Drama) at university, but fell out of love with reading as I found it a chore rather than a pleasure. I didn't find the time to read the books *I* wanted to read (I'm not very good at time management)
I'm trying to get back into reading. I've started listening to audiobooks on the way to work and reading in bed (my favourite place)

Well, there's Zorba's restaurant on Old Christchurch Road, but no blue cafe.

Hello, I'm Stephanie, I'm 24 years old and live in London. I work at a creative production company that creates big, outdoor theatre/arts events - we're currently gearing up for a light festival in November. I love film, live music, good food, Japanese culture, traveling, and of course reading!I recently fell back in love with reading - I was always a big reader as a child, but I've spent most of the past 5 years gaining 2 degrees (BA Art History and MA Art History - where I specialized in Japanese art) so reading fell by the wayside somewhat! When you're reading and writing all day I find the last thing you want to do at night is curl up with a book. These days I use my rather long commute (an hour each way) to get stuck into reading, it's so great to have the time to do it again.
I read all sorts really - I read a fair bit of horror/fantasy, I also like non-fiction, particularly anything relating to other cultures or science. I love a good series of books - like Harry Potter, His Dark Materials, Sookie Stackhouse, Twilight - I just adore being transported back into the same, familiar world book after book.
Hi I'm Di (kementari/kemi on various Lush fora) I live in hampshire suburbia with my hubby and two littlies (2&3) most of my reading is to them and we love Julia Donaldson but I have recently purchased a kindle and am really loving being able to take it everywhere and pick it up easily whenever I want.
Mostly my reading is science fantasy stuff, I love a bit of vampire slutiness but read pretty much everything from classics to chick lit.
Hiya, I'm Margaret (magrat). I was on the old IF for years, but mostly lurk about and occasionally post on LLL these days.I'm 38, live in Edinburgh with my hubby and am training to be a psychologist. I do love books, but tend to go through phases of either reading a lot or not much at all. At the moment, I'm not reading a lot for pleasure as have so much to do for work/uni. I do have a Kindle which I completely love - I didn't think I would as I hate reading off a screen, but the Kindle doesn't feel like that at all - I actually find it a lot easier to hold and read than a real book.
Hope this keeps going a bit longer than the last Lush reading group - as I remember that lasted a few months and then rather fizzled out. Liking this site and the set-up though, hopefully that'll keep us going.
Looking forward to chatting to you all and hopefully getting some recommendations!
Hello. I am DK! :) Please to be here, I'm still working out what's going on here.
I've been bookish all my life, but am getting more and more impatient with rubbish books as I get older. Any recommendations of books you actually love would be gratefully appreciated.
I wonder if I can add my maths books in here too...
Hi! I'm Amy, aka Amy. Rubbish username or wot, lol. Me too I always carry a book with me. Sometimes I've got so absorbed I have to read it while walking down the road, hehe, not often tho. I love reading but have recently fallen out of the habit, so I'm looking forward to getting back into it now I'm here :-) I've just started reading Les Miserables, so will prob be trying to read 2 books at the same time for a while now! What else? I'm also into non-fiction, politics, environmental campaigning and european cinema. And Spongebob.
Hi Im Kat (missybsleeping on the forum). I live in Pembrokeshire with my Mr and the three kids - well two teenies and a teenager! I have always loved reading from being quite young as I was a poorly child and was too ill to play much.My love of books has continuing into my adulthood I like nothing better than getting lost in a book and escaping from reality. Of course with the teenies it is sometimes hard to read everyday, but I seem to go through bursts of reading. I love book sharing and have also bookcrossed a few times. I currently have a carrier bag full of second hand books to get through.
I also have other interests like crochet and cross stitch! Im sounding a bit boring so will finish here!
Hello I'm Jill. I live in the north-west, (just outside Preston) with my two grown-up daughters (for the time being, I am hoping one might move out soon.........watch this space). I am in the middle of a divorce, which is not what I expected at this point in my life.
I also have a cat, a horse and five hens, although the hens and the horse don't live in the house.
I work too far away from home and have to go by car which cuts into my reading time considerably, when I used the train I read more.
So I'm trying to make myself more reading time and failing miserably, but I hope being part of this group might make me more successful.
I also ride, clog dance and morris dance.
Hello! I'm Leonie and although I absolutely love reading, I hardly have time for it during term. For pleasure reading that is, I normally read a lot of assigned books. Most of the time they are works of literature, so they can be quite could reads. This term will probably be a bit different, as I'm doing an elective which doesn't require reading a lot of literature. I will try to read the 'book of the month', but I'm afraid I will fail miserably! ;)
Hey everybody! I'm Kathryn or Kat for short. I'm redsoxwin1027 on the NA forum. One of your members popped over to invite some of us to join your lush group. May I join in the fun? I'm a huge reader and love reading new titles and authors. I'm married and have 6 dogs. 5 corgis and 1 podengo. The Mr. and I live in Orlando, FL. I've visited the UK a few times but wish I could spend more time there!!
Hi Kat, it was me who popped over (I started the group when the thread in IF Library section just didn't seem enough anymore). Welcome to the group. Feel free to start threads/post/whatever you want to do (and invite fellow lushies). I went to Orlando 3 times when I was young and we have friends from Tampa we met in St Pete's in '89. I have lovely memories there *hug*
Thanks for the welcome, Kirsty!! St. Pete is lovely. We like to drive over and see the Tampa Rays play the Boston Red Sox at Tropicana Field. They've got gorgeous beaches too! I will mosey my way around the group and find what everyone's reading this month!! So glad to join in!!
Hi, I'm Kate (Unicon on the forum). I'm 26 and my husband and I live right outside Chicago in the US. I just started my final 6 weeks of college so I will soon have my BBA in Accounting! Since I will have loads of free time in the very near future, I figured what better way to fill it than to join this group and start reading. I used to read a lot when I was younger, but as I hit my teens I decided I was too cool for reading and would rather party (I'm done with partying now, btw heh) and since then, I haven't found many books that keep my interest. though, I am quite looking forward to reading Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. I'm looking forward to interacting with everyone!
Hello! Am Morven (Neliel on the forum), from Glasgow, Scotland.I love books, reading all kinds of books, I love a book that I have to put away because I get so emotionally involved (Clockwork Orange did that).
Hi, I'm Anna (Knight2007 on the forum). I live in London, aged 32 and I've been a bookworm since the time I learned to read! When I was a bit younger I used to read a lot of sci-fi but these days I find myself drawn more towards crime or fantasy novels by the likes of Kathy Reics or Jim Butcher. At the moment I'm hooked on the Dreseden Files series of novels.
Hello everyone, I'm Sam (Vanilla Fountain) I've been reading since before I started nursery, I love the smell of old and new books this is the main reason I haven't bought a kindle. I am a terrible book hoarder they are always kept incase I want to read them again, I daren't get most of my books out since I moved they've been stored in boxes :S but now I have a bookcase for my bedroom they shall be coming back out :D
I am a married stay at home mama with 3(monsters) lovely little boys aged 9,6 and very nearly 2 year old.
I have to have read something every day even if it's a magazine or I can't sleep :( My favourite thing in the world is getting some Enchanted or Lush in the bath and having (at least an hour long)lovely soak whilst reading some lovely book I have on the go at the time.
So nice to meet you all, will be so nice to share my theories and feelings on books I've read :)
That was way longer than I expected, apologies hehe

Hello Everyone! My name is Toni, yes a girl named Toni. I am a born and raised Chicagoan, where we have plenty of Lush stores! I have been a reader my whole life and I love to be surrounded by plenty of reads. I read alot of different genre's but I am mostly into historical fiction and books about different cultures.
I have a home library and I like to lend out books from my collection to my colleagues. I like to spread the love of reading, if you will. I also like to visit my local library to surround myself completely with books. It has something to do with the book smell. Odd I know. Anyway, between the maintenance of my own library, reading, and living life, I'd say I am a pretty busy girl!
Hi everyone! My name is Vicky (medicated_drama_queen on the forum where I normally just lurk) and i'm from Dorset. I love music, film, theatre, art and reading. Genre wise I normally stay around the areas of fantasy, sci-fi and horror but am open to other suggestions :)
Hello I am nisha,I love reading and always will there is nothing better then really getting into a book and being able to zone out of the world for a litttle while and entering the book. Fantasy is my favorite i loved the twilight saga and the harry potter saga <3 i am also open to other books though. I love going to charity shops to get books as it a good price and goes to a good cause... x my local lushes are kingston, guildford, chichester or portsmouth and i live in the countryside :) hope i coverd everything xxxxxx
Hi Nisha - welcome to the group. Thanks for posting a bit about yourself. It's nice to know a bit about each other rather than just book preferences :)

I'm Kirsty/Kirkel (duh) which gets shortened to Kirst when people I meet become friends.
I'm Scottish and I live on the South coast of England with The Mr, my 2 teenies tots and our cat.
I still feel homesick for H.K. where my brother (and his family) still live. I was an ESL teacher there after living in Taiwan. Five years in Asia and reverse culture shock on return.
I have always loved art (in any form but mainly contemporary) and reading. If I had the time I would immerse myself in both in turn and only come up for air when I am drained.
When I reach the end of a good book I feel a sense of loss which is why I like it when a book leaves me mulling over it's contents (much the same as a good film - I also love films).
One of the things I miss most about living in Asia is discussing, and sharing, books. I will give anything a shot that a friend is passionate about.
Wow - that was longer than intended and more than I've ever put about myself online.
Looking forward to getting to know you a bit more :)
