I finished reading And Then There Were None the other day, I really enjoyed it, but I agree, it was kind of gruesome, especially at the parts when they were being killed. But all that aside, I really liked it.

I've not seen that one Sharla. The one I watched was filmed in either the 1960s or early 1970s. I thought that one was pretty good too although not at all funny.
I don't know where to ask this so I am starting here. I just finished my first Agatha Christie novel "Murder is Easy", and I am looking at other reviews and the names of the characters are different. I have in my edition, Miss Pinkerton, but others have Lavinia Fullerton? And, in my edition I have Lord Whitfield, but others refer to Lord Easterfield? This is weird to me. Shouldn't the names be the same?
This is one of the links to the book that names some of the characters Martha Murder Is Easy. Is it possible for you to post your book link and we can compare? I usually type the name of the book and look for a matching cover if I see if or you should be able to type in the ISBN #, if it has one. Very strange!
Yes, I have the same cover you have put in here, but on the back of my book, it states "Luke Fitzwilliam does not believe Miss Pinkerton's wild allegation that a multiple murderer is at work in the quiet English village of Wychwood". It really is bizarre. Do you think maybe because the original name of the book was "Easy to Kill" there might be some connection? This is a puzzle I'm really curious about. Thank you for your interest!
I don't know Martha, maybe it's a misprint. If it is, then it might be worth something. I can't remember which book, but there was some kind of misprint in the cover(?), and it ended up being worth more than the correct printing. Check Wikipedia. I know it's info from anyone who wants to contribute but there's probably a bibliophile that's added something about it.

Ooh! I haven't read that one yet! How was it?

Trevor: I'm sorry I'm just answering now but I didn't see your comment. I enjoy reading any A.C. book, so I liked it, but it was kinda boring. You're probably going to like it if you like Miss Marple, but I prefer the Poirot kind of story [with more thinking than action], so I'm probably not the perfect person to ask this, sorry...
I just finished her book "Miss Marple's final cases" and it was awesome.. It is a page turner book ^^

I've still not read that Amrutha.
I've still not read that Amrutha.
I have not read any for a couple months. This month I forgot the name when I went to the library. I have been watching the movies though. I have found the movies better if the book was not read. Lot of differences in them , here and there. But I love the movies anyway. I can watch and multitask that way. I would love audio books, but my library does not have many and audio is so costly unless you just find one 2nd hand.
Nemesis. It was good except I figured out the murderer and where the dead body was the first time we were introduced to the character. The problem with Christie is once you read a lot of her, you are able to solve the mysteries in the beginning of the novel. I long for the days in which there was a twist in which I found myself happily surprised. Oh well, those days seem to be gone.
It was really good, I like the whole idea of it being a game, Miss Marple is racing against the clock to discover a murderer. I figured out the killer the first time we met them. And where the dead body was hiding. It was very much a gothic mystery, reminiscent of Poe's The Cask of Amontillado, The Black Cat, and A Rose for Emily by Faulkner.
Started The Body in the Library last night. that is what I am reading right now. It is probably the most "vulgar" of her I have ever read. lol The young ruffians!! haha
Just finished Murder in Mesopotamia. A tad disappointed with the implausible ending (I'd read it before but a long time ago.)
Reading Body in the Library..just came across where she mentions herself as a mystery writer along with Dorothy Sayers and Dickson Carr! Have never seen her do that before...cute. I wonder if she mentions herself in any of her other books. I am a very long way from reading all of them.
Finished The Body in the Library last night! It was great!! Very zippy and of course I had no idea whodunit til she told me. lol It may be one of my favorites of hers now. But, it seems that every book I read by her is better than the last!!
Finished Lord Edgware Dies. Did not expect that ending. I guess my little gray cells weren't working!

Mind-blowing suspense. It t'were me, I'd keep that book for last. Curtain fall.. :')

Have you tried ABC Murders? Almost impossible to guess that right!

I too guessed the murderer in Nemesis. It resembles another Christie book, the one with the folly.
I read 2 Christie books in quick succession; Towards Zero and ultimately One, Two, Buckle My Shoe. I've found that Poirot is the least favorite series among the Christies. I prefer Marple, Battle, and T&T more than Poirot. There's something not smooth about his books which dilutes charm, jars pacing, mars humor, and smothers surprise. The last two books I've given a 5/5 score are Towards Zero and The Seven Dials Mystery.
The most recent Christie I read was Death Comes As The End earlier this year. It was also the only book of hers that I hadn't read - I had read all the rest of her books (and in many cases, reread) several years ago, but I was put off by the unusual setting of this one. Don't get me wrong - I love historical novels, and a setting like ancient Egypt is inherently interesting. But I wasn't sure how Christie would handle it, and whether her usual immaculate plotting would work in such an alien setting. Well ... it was ok. The setting was fairly well realized, but the plot was a bit threadbare, the characters wooden, and the body count ridiculously high.
Just finished Murder on the Orient Express and A Murder is announced. I'm proud I was able to get the right answer from A Murder is announced. The beauty was in the style and a view of post war life for the Miss Marple. I had already watched a TV adaption of Murder on Orient Express but still enjoyed Poirot.
I finished 4:50 from Paddington last month and now moved on to my first Poirot novel, The murder of Roger Ackroyd. :D
I have not read one of her books in quite awhile but I was fortunate to get a copy of Death On the Nile at a bookstore that was closing so I have that to read very soon.
Carolyn F. wrote: "Did you like it Laurin?"I liked that they were short stories. Some were better than others.
I'm surprised that murderers just sit there and let a detective or an older woman tell on them. I'd get up and say, "I don't want to hear this." But maybe that's just me :)
I'm reading By the Pricking of My Thumb for the moment.Thought I've read all Tommy & Tuppence series, but somehow I've missed this one.
I just started the Golden Ball by Christie. A book of short stories. I've read this several times, but continue to return to the classic characters and great British setting.
I just finished
I really enjoyed it but if I had to give it a negative comment I would just say it started off a little slow for me.
