Anyone Read This Book???

I read this book way back in 5th grade and I remember really enjoying it. I would actually like to re-read it to see if it is as good as I remembered.

I loved it. But it was one of those books that just took me a really long time to understand. I read it in second grade and I don't think I was mature enough to really understand it so it took a while. Revisited it in fourth grade and enjoyed it so much more.

I got this book in about the third grade and have read it a dozen times at least and read it to my class at school once. It is a wonderful book.

<3ed it, read it like once every year

Loved this book!

It was pretty good!

it was okay, i mean by that time i didn't like reading that much but since it was a summer reading i HAD to read it but it wasn't like i got bored like when i had to read the chocolate war

read this when i was younger still have the book on my shelf . one of my favorites:)

I had to read this book in the 4th grade. It was awesome! I loved it! I plan on reading it again soon. :)

Read this book about a decade ago and I'm 22. I've since read it again. Good call. This book was such a huge, magical part of my childhood that really fostered my imagination tremendously. Now that I look back and recall the books I read as a child, I get to kind of see a pattern in my reading. Other books that I read during this time were titles such as 'On the Far Side of the Mountain', 'Banner in the Sky', and 'Call of the Wild'. All are fabulous. That has evolved into presently enjoying authors like William Faulkner and Cormac McCarthy. These juvenile fiction writers have done as much for children's literature as these more 'sophisticated' authors in their respective genres. I even named my dog Rontu(from Island of the Blue Dolphins). :-)

great book but can get kind of sad

I've read it, though I can't remember the ending. I just remember reading an excerpt from it somewhere and being overjoyed when I found it in my school's library. I shall have to revisit it soon :)

I read the book it was a really long time ago. I was 11 or 12

I read it in middle school and would not mind reading it again so many years later. I loved it like many have said.

Another great lower teen book that is great is "Hatchet." I have read it several times and my boys loved it. Or the one about the kid on the mountain. survival books are great.

this was my "go to" favorite book in elementary school. I read it over and over again.

I loved this book. I read with my class in fourth grade. I enjoyed it a lot and didn't want it to end. It is one of my favorite books. When it was over I could still remember the whole entire book. I recommend you to read this book. It is amazing!:)

I've it read too... And I read other books by the same author and remember enjoying them alot when I was a kid.

I read it when I was a kid and loved it!

Yes, I liked it the second time I read it. The first time I tried to read it it was years earlier and I didn't have the patience. It's a good book if you books with only one character. I guess kind of like I Am Legend.

I have read it to each of my kids as part of their home school program. It is an excellent read.

really really gud. read it a couple of times

i read this book over and over as a kid. I bought it as an adult and read it again. Enjoyed it immensely. Might not be enough action for some people but just the day to day living and survival skills the girl possessed amazed me and I loved to learn how she went about making the things she did. Great book!

I remember this book being one of my favorites in second grade and I read it many times. I liked it so much that it's remained amongst my collection after numerous shelf-thinning sessions and a move to the other side of the world! I loved the survival aspect of it and the heroism of a young girl left on her own. I still love it to this day.

Yea, I read it as a kid too. I can't recall all of the details now. But I do remember really enjoying it.

My fifth grade teacher read it aloud to us back in the sixties. She was a big childrens' book buff, a change from most of the teachers we had there. It was a one room country school house in a place in Western Montana nobody has heard of,and there were usually about 15-20 students in all eight grades. Our library left alot to be desired. She would order a big box of books from Helena(probably the state library) and we could keep them about 5 months. She would read aloud to use very day for about a half hour after lundh, and this was one of the ones she read Misty of Chincoteague was another one. I dodn't remember as much of these as I do some of the other. But the short answer is yes, and I do recommend it.

i read this for a book report in 5th grade, and i chose it because it's quite short. But then i really enjoyed it and wished it was thicker...

I read it in middle school and loved it - we did a whole section in class on it - i might have to do a re-read in the near future and see if it lives up to the youth to adult test of time for re-reading

LOVED this book!

I read it as a child and loved it so much. I bought it and read it to my daughter who was 7 or 8 at the time. My daughter had questions about the book and I found goodreads while researching her questions. How lucky for me!

I read the book a long time ago. As I remember it, I liked it.

I read this book back in the 60's and it caught my imagination. An excellent story line.

I read this when I was...maybe junior high? I still reread it occasionally. Scott O'Dell has written a lot of books that I enjoy, but this one has so much mystery and leaves me with so many stimulating questions.

i read it back in high school and found it sad but liked it nevertheless...
