Combining Textbooks

I'm looking at Gerald J. Alred, but I see this a lot with textbooks.

In this case, there is a combine of The Business Writer's Companion, but there are also four single entries that are "Business Writer's Companion #E & ."

Are these "alike enough" to be combined?

Yes. I usually put the edition info in the edition field as well, and take it out of the title.

So do I. I take it out of the title, since it isn't the title obviously and put the "companion" pieces in edition. If it's really a large bunch of stuff, I may also put it in the description field.
