My postman quite likes me. The a/c guys are scared of me though. As they should be. ;)

Don't know if this is the right place for this but all of this morning I have not been getting these Goodreads comments, you know, freebies, daily kindle deals etc. I get flagged on yahoo that the mail ia sent to me but it is not appearing in my inbox. Not sure of this problem and that when I post this is you respond I will get the answer. Please respond anyhow and let's see what happens
Hmmm. That's odd. Maybe Simon can help?I'll point your question out to him, Yvonne.
Perhaps it's something in your Goodreads settings....
Hi , apologies if this is the wrong place to ask but I seem to have a stuck notification, thankfully not painful. When I touch notifications it says there are none but I permanently seem to have a number 1 by the exclamation mark at the top and also on my profile bit to the right it says I notification and yet when pressed there are none.
I have logged in and out and also cleared my history and cache. Wondered if you knew anything I could do. It's just a bit annoying.
Hmmm. You've done everything I'd have tried...Oh. Try signing out and then clearing your cookies? Maybe it'll be gone when you sign back in...
No it's still there. Thanks for trying. It may be that I am on my iPad. When I am next on the PC I will retry. I love the iPad but it does have little glitches now and then with certain websites. Thank you. I will let you know how I get on as it may help somebody else in future.
I did get a few notification emails like 20 hours later a couple of days ago... Then the website went all screwy for a while, seems ok now though
Well completely out the blue it has disappeared today. I didn't do anything. All nice and tidy again. Silly how something so simple can be so annoying. Thanks for the help. Happy reading.
Hi - I'm hoping that this is the right place to ask this question (rather than starting a new thread for the purpose)...I've been drafting a new post to my author blog, and got to the point where I want to add an image. I've followed (to the best of my limited abiity) the guidance shown on the screen for this. I assume that where it shows http:\\www.goodreads.com\image... this should be replaced with the address of the image I want to include, but when I do this and look at the preview, it just shows a marker for where the image will appear, but not the image itself.
My image is on my C drive (desktop, actually). Does this matter? What am I doing wrong please?
No, you have to upload it to a server. Goodreads is the obvious choice. Then your link points to the uploaded image.
Simon (Highwayman) wrote: "No, you have to upload it to a server. Goodreads is the obvious choice. Is it just a case of saving it to a location, and if so then how do I find that location?
Ah, OK, I have read your post again. I am not really sure where your blog is. The best place to upload your picture to is the same place as the blog. If you upload it to goodreads and then add it to (say) wordpress, your image will only be visible when the goodreads site is available, which is not great. If you can give me a bit more detail about what you are doing I might be able to point you in the right direction (or someone else will).
Flickr & photobucket are two good sites to upload pictures too and then they will give you a direct link to it!

I'm talking about my Goodreads author blog.
Louise-Lesley (Elle) wrote: "Flickr & photobucket are two good sites to upload pictures too and then they will give you a direct link to it!"Elle - if I upload my photo to one of these sites then presumably all I'd need to do would be to specify the link to that location on my GR author blog? I've never used either Flickr or photobucket - are they just cloud storage for photos?
Sorry to appear so ill-informed - wrong century I'm afraid! :o(
Yes, they are just storage on the web.if you want to add one use some html (the 'some html is ok' link above the comment will tell you the one for putting in a picture)
Question - How do I delete books in my 'to read' folder. I added all the books of a particular author and realised they are just different editions of same book. I tried the 'duplicate' button but to no avail. I don't want to be cluttered with them but there seems to be no delete icon anywhere?
If you go to "My Books" the list shows a amall cross against each book, in the furthest right column. Clicking on that will give you the option to delete ;)
Rosemary wrote: "If you go to "My Books" the list shows a amall cross against each book, in the furthest right column. Clicking on that will give you the option to delete ;)"Thanks Rosemary. I had a look and the word 'edit' pops up when I go to the right corner.
Just realised I had the setting on covers, now have it on 'list' and I see the cross you referred to. Thanks for your guidance to that.
