Should they ditch the sequel, wait a few years, then do a reboot?

Jazz Naturally, a movie is never as good as the book. But personally, I don't think you can really call it an apadtation of the book. Because, the story in the movie is completely different.

The whole point of the series is that Percy is the son of Poseidon, one of the big three, and the next demigod of the big three could potentially destroy the world when he turns 16.

In the movie, Percy is 17. The whole story is blown apart already! I see it as a standalone movie, that is LOOSELY based of the book. Same for the next movie and any movies that are made.

I think it would be cool if they were to forget about doing a sequel (the movie wasn't much a box-office success anyway), and do a reboot with kids who are the proper age and keep the story intact. But of course, they should wait a few years, because the first movie is still fresh in everyone's mind.

Do you agree?

yes i do agree. I have read all the books and seeing all the omissions and revisions they made in the first movie adaptation... i think that key elements of the plot of the series was damaged.... they really should make a remake... or much better (in my opinion) a disney animated series of it,.. it's the only way to capture percy jackson's true loser-like character becoming world's greatest hero...

Snow YES

Kit Ty aye! reboot! and make spielberg or burton or peter jackson the director!

Snow im glad you agree

Julia J. I HATED the movie. And I laughed at it. I also think they should wait and then make a new one. :P I wonder what The Heroes of Olympus will be by then.

Bianca Burton would be the best choice

Jeremiah Harper I watched the movie before reading the book and thought it was good. Then I read whole series and realized that the movie sucked. There is no way a decent sequel can be made. I agree that they should scrap it for a few years and start over with younger actors that can grow with the story.

Pat 100 times YES

Christine I think that yes, they should do that. They should hire some of the same people that did the Harry Potter movies (definitely the same special effects coordinator) and better actors. If they completely re-did the series I would be ecstatic because the first movie sucked like crazy. Sadly, though, I don't think this is going to happen.

Yes, yes, yes! Total stand-alone with a terrible plot and they should scrap the first, wait a couple years and re-do it like nothing ever happened because like you said the movie didn't score much money. If they'd done it like Harry Potter they could have raked it in!

Agreed.

Christine Thank you.
