Paul (psinderson) | 10 comments I just realized how hard it is sometimes to get others to give me some "alone" time to read. I'll be quietly reading in my favorite chair and the someone will come into the room and turn on the TV or start talking to me. I can read with some background noise, but often I just want to read in peace.

If this happens to you, how do you handle it? I usually just try to go downstairs away from everyone.

P. Christopher Colter (countofbluecars) | 12 comments My most comfortable chair is also in the busiest part of my house. If I want both comfort and the ability to read with less distraction, my iPod is a Godsend. Granted, music is a little distracting, but it is controlled and expected sound.

Johnny Virgil (johnnyvirgil) My wife is guilty of that. I'm planning a "man-cave" in the basement and it will have a comfy chair and reading light. Right now I tend to just head to my office.

My biggest obstacle to reading is myself. I have the time and the quietness quite often, but that seem to always be the time I don't want to read. I guess reading is my way of getting away. So if it does happen to be loud, that would be the time I would want to read, but when I do, I can't concentrate.

Terry Parker (parker19713) | 8 comments I tried to have a nice room with a reading chair and lamp, but my wife decided to make it a homework room for the kids and removed the chair. Now I read most in the "library" on a regular schedule.
