Shelly (shellye77) For me, a little paranormal goes a long way! I'm with you Heather in FL - much prefer real romance!

SEP's heroes are just alpha enough for me, and they have brains and heart and different personalities! Something I don't think the PNR heroes have, they all start to sound/read the same!

I was surprised at how protective readers were of Meg. She was definitely tough enough to stand up to those women.

Thanks for answering my question. One reason I love your books is that I care about the characters so passionately and the heroines really earn their happy ending. I felt similarly protective about Sugar Beth in "Ain't She Sweet" (sorry Winnie, you're dead to me).

Keep writing and I can't wait until Lucy's story. I fell in love with Lucy in "First Lady." (Okay, enough groveling, sheesh. :) )

Susan (susanmcb) | 39 comments Susan, love the comments from your sister! You guys are too funny! (Reminds me a little of me and my sister, I must confess. ;->) Hope you enjoy LITTLE BLACK DRESS...and I really hope I get to meet you in person someday. Anyone who wears sock monkey and flamingo nightgowns is more than all right by me. :-)

Val (valevals) Hi Susan!
My first book of you was It Had to Be You and I absolutely loved it!!!! It's actually my favorite book in the Chicago Stars Series. I love the series but nothing can top the first book for me, and the couple: Phoebe and Dan. I just love them!
It had to be You is one of my favorite books ever!

Do you think you'll ever write about them again? Or what about a book where Dan, Phoebe, Bobby, Cal, Jane, Kevin, Molly, Blue, Dean, Anabelle and Heath go on a trip? It would be awesome!

Thank you for writing such incredible books. I'm so glad to see there are still contemporary romance authors!

Kudos from Mexico!

Ooooo, that's a great idea! Like a reunion! I was thinking Dan and Phoebe were my favorites, too, but then I remember all the others and I just can't pick one pair. :-) They all had their great moments and their I-want-to-smack-them moments.

Love the banter between you and your sister, too funny.

Almost as amazing as your books.

Who do you like to read for pleasure?

Lisarenee | 3 comments Susan, I attempted to get CALL ME IRRESISTIBLE from my library when I found out that you were doing this Q&A session. Alas, they couldn't find the copy they supposedly had in. The poor librarian searched high and low, for the copy but it could not be found and I didn't have time to get it from the store. I've read a couple of your books and have more sitting on my shelf waiting patiently for me to read them, so I'm a relative newbie to your books. The ones I've read thus far have super funny situations that have me laughing. Do all your romances have a humorous edge to them? What do you think are the most important traits for creating a good hero and heroine? Since you began writing romances has the romance scene changed much? BTW I just checked and the book came in just a couple of hours ago. It figures. They got me a copy from another branch.

I'd better love everyone of my heroes! Otherwise, the heroine could never fall in love with him. True answer! I play no favorites. (Their feelings would be hurt.)

Can you imagine the audio book reader's horror if I put all those characters in one scene?! Kate used to threaten me about that...

My sister is the funny one! As for reading for pleasure, I know I posted that somewhere here today. Maybe under beach reads??? I'm getting confused. (Like that's something new.)

All of my books have humorous moments. But I don't believe in sacrificing characterization or plot just to get a joke in. It's sometimes a thin line. In terms of heros and heroines-- I don't want them perfect. I want the book to be their personal journey to figuring out who they are/what they want/etc. As for romance--it continues to be the most inventive popular fiction genre there is! Just look at the great variety of books.
