Catherine, I can say that at first the humor was actually too over the top for me, but now that I'm getting into the groove of his writing style it is growing on me. I'll keep you posted.
I just finished
. It took me a little while to get used to the sense of humor, but in the end I thoroughly enjoyed it. It 's like Picket Fences and Northern Exposure meet Twin Peaks

I enjoyed the first two so Im interested to see where the third book takes things"Aaron, I thought the third one was the best in the series. Hope you enjoy it.
I'm somewhat new to this group, but I'd like to give a few suggestions. I just finished the Nightside series by Simon Green, and the Iron Druid series by Kevin Hearne. Both of these series were amazing. If you liked Dresden Files, or even the Elemental Assassin series by Jennifer Estep, these are for you. However, I'd definitely warn those with vivid imaginations and delicate stomachs to stay away from the Nightside series. It's an amazingly well-written series, up there with Dresden for sure, but it's a bit more graphic in its violence.
The Iron Druid series is everything an Urban Fantasy fan could want in a series. The story revolves around Atticus O'Sullivan, a 2100 year old Druid (the last druid on earth) hiding in Arizona from the old Irish god of love. Being a druid, his magic comes in the form of bindings. It's an interesting change in thoughts when you read this book. With the word 'magic' usually comes a preconstructed idea that the magic will take the form of either elemental, such as wizards, or the spiritual, such as witches (the ones that mess with spirits), necromancers, ectomancers and anything else that generally mucks around with dead stuff. The way the author manipulates the one ability to create numerous effects shows a real talent that's only just now beginning to grow. The series is also fairly new. There's three books so far, with a few short stories thrown in as a bonus. This series is more on Jim Butcher's level of content. Not as violently graphic as Nightside, and just as well written. There's a number of geek-humor in this particular series, so be prepared for a few cases of the giggles. Aside from that, the mythology was well put together, with all manners of uglies bumping in the night. If you finished Dresden, or anything that reads like it, you'll want to pick this up.
One quick question: Is this group for Urban Fantasy, or Paranormal Romance? Because most of the posts on here seem to suggest the PNR. If that's the case, I can put up a few different suggestions, but I'd like some clarification.
Logan wrote: "I'm somewhat new to this group, but I'd like to give a few suggestions. I just finished the Nightside series by Simon Green, and the Iron Druid series by Kevin Hearne. Both of these series were ama..."Well, I'm definitely not the spokesperson for this group, but I think this group is geared toward both PNR and UF. I usually refer to this site for the UF recommendations and discussions since that's what I'm most interested in reading.
I've read the first three Elemental Assassin books and I quite enjoyed them. If you like dark UF, then have you read the Downside series by Stacia Kane? I am very impatiently awaiting the next book, which isn't due out until March 2012.
Logan, I'm not a moderator for the group either, but I think that a lot of us who read UF also spill over into PNR (and some books walk the line between the two genres) so in this 'what are you reading' post, you'll see a lot of both posted even though the group is meant as an UF group.BTW, I loved Nightside, Dresden, and the Iron Druid Chronicles as well. The Elemental Assassins is on my TBR pile for next year. I've heard so much good about it, I keep moving it up in the pile. Have you read K.A. Stewart's Jesse James Dawson series? It's a little know series that I keep trying to push on people.

"I really liked that one. I loved how the heroine wasn't perfect, in fact she was a hot mess.
Fate's Edge by Ilona Andrews.
I love her Kate Daniels series, but I also really like the diversity in characters and worlds in this series. And thieves. Love thieves.

I finally finished the Georgina Kincaid series!! For me, this final book
gave a satisfying ending to the series. Or maybe I was just glad it's over?Up next, either
or
. We'll see what grabs me when I sit down to read tonight.

I'm also reading Fate's Edge at the moment, I'm really enjoying it! Ilona Andrews is one of my favorite authors.
I usually like my urban fantasy a little more flashy, but something about the grounded world of Mercy Thompson keeps me coming back for more.

A friend of mine just introduced me to that series, and I've loved it! (Almost better than Sookie Stackhouse...but don't tell anyone ;)

Just finished and loved the Disillusionist series by Carolyn Crane (those books are amazing) and I'm just starting The Name of the Wind.
Recent reads: - Doppelganster by Laura Resnick. Book two in her Esther Diamond series, which I love!
- (OT) Royal Blood by Rhys Bowen. Book four in her Royal Spyness Mystery Series. Not PNR or UF but this one did include vampires, sort of :-) Great series.
Next up:
- Naughty in Nice (Royal Spyness Series), Rhys Bowen
- Unsympathetic Magic (Esther Diamond Series), Laura Resnick
- Vamparazzi (Esther Diamond Series), Laura Resnick
- The Battle Sylph, L. J McDonald
- Laura Resnick's "In Fire Forged" duo/series

. I am enjoying this series, but it's not one of those books that I can't stop thinking about when I put it down or it ends. That's probably a good thing since #3 isn't out yet and I have to wait for it.
Just started this one this week:
Liking it so far! Picked up
on sale a bit ago too, and can't wait to bite into that one soon.

Going to try and read
the first book in the series was so boring, but I bought them both at the same time so I thought I might as well. Also going to take another crack at
I put it down several months back because I thought it was dumb that the main character had a lisp when she became a vampire.
Aaron wrote: "Going to try and read

I finished reading Fate's Edge and am currently reading The Hero and the Crown. Both books are good in their own ways.
I just finished re-reading
and it was very good. I'm waiting for the next one to come in from the library.
Almost done with
. Love this series. Then the plan is for back-to-back reads of
and
so I can read
which I finally got into my hands.
I am currently reading Batman: Bloodstream. It is the second in a graphic novel series. I have been and will continue to work on my tbr books. I will try to catch up to as many series as possible.

I really like it as well. I had started Death Magic, but couldn't rememember what happened in the previous book, so I decided to re-read the whole series.

Child of FireReally, really well constructed story. Page-turner/Button-clicker. I enjoyed it immensely.
