Veronica (readingonthefly) Finished India Black and the Rajah's Ruby by Carol K. Carr and keeping with the historical mystery genre by reading The Face of a Stranger (William Monk, #1) by Anne Perry - about a third of the way into it. I'm about ready to get back to UF but not sure what to start off with...

Are you referring to the new Benedict Jacka book? I've heard great things about that series, but have yet to try it myself.

I just finished the fourth one, but when I tried to order the fifth in the same mass market paperback as the others, Amazon and BN told me it will be released 10/29/13. In the meantime I could pay I think, $8 a piece for the same book in two halves. So I decided to wait.

I really loved it, though! So deep and layered and complex. Every character is a real character, which I love. No filler!

Yes indeed! Chosen (Alex Verus, #4) by Benedict Jacka . I just finished it a few minutes ago and can't say enough good things about it! This series just gets better and better, and with this book Jacka has taken the series to the next level. I highly, highly recommend the book and the series for anyone who has not read it.

Veronica (readingonthefly) Finished The Face of a Stranger (William Monk, #1) by Anne Perry (slow but oddly I still liked it) and decided to stay with historical mysteries a bit longer. I read and finished What Angels Fear (Sebastian St. Cyr, #1) by C.S. Harris and am about ready to finish When Gods Die (Sebastian St. Cyr #2) by C.S. Harris . I'll be moving on to Why Mermaids Sing (Sebastian St. Cyr, #3) by C.S. Harris next.

I really enjoyed this series so far. I can't find any info about whether she will be writing more in this series or not. If she doesn't, I hope she continues to write more urban fantasy - her Kara Gillian series is great too.

Marsha, I'm counting down the days to Fury of the Demon. I just finally read Touch of the Demon (Kara Gillian, #5) by Diana Rowland last week and it was so good. She really made some major changes with that one and I can't wait to see what she comes up with next.

And I too hope she writes more White Trash Zombie books. They are so good!

message 2114: by Christine (new)

Christine | 752 comments I finished Chimes at Midnight (October Daye, #7) by Seanan McGuire which was as good as I expected it to be. I also caught up with Eve and Roarke in Born in Death (In Death, #23) by J.D. Robb .

And I know it's a contemporary mystery with no fantasy elements, but I'm almost done with Baltimore Blues (Tess Monaghan #1) by Laura Lippman . I like the mystery, but I don't like some of the personal choices the MC has made. I'm still trying to decide whether to read the next one or not.

I just finished her Elemental Mysteries series. It was more romance than I normally like but I did love the series. I haven't read her others yet but will give them a try.

message 2117: by Sue (new)

Sue | 28 comments I love Elizabeth Hunter's work and never really considered myself a fan of "romance books". I think she does an outstanding job with relationships and am so glad that I found her! Enjoy the next book and give The Genius and The Muse a try if want to give this genre another go. I really like her style, hope you do as well.

I knew Jean could find us our info. Thanks, Jean! I love both of her series and am glad she's able to keep writing them.

I was sad when I found out that K.A. Stewart couldn't get a contract to continue her Jesse James Dawson series, which I also adored. Hopefully, she'll be able to self publish more if she has the time.

♥ Ashleigh ♥ Contrary to popular belief I'm not actually mad! (cheshire_red) finished Mistborn The Final Empire (Mistborn, #1) by Brandon Sanderson was a pretty fantastic book, I really enjoyed the character and the relationships. the world was pretty amazing as well.

also finished Poison Princess (The Arcana Chronicles, #1) by Kresley Cole which was awesome!! I absaloutly loved it, the end was a complete twist - didn't see that coming at all!!
loved Eve, Mel and Jackson - they constantly had me cracking up. spesh Mel.
cant wait to get my hands on the next book - I just know its going to be amazing!!

Ambisaurus Rex (ambisaur) I'm currently reading Blue Blooded Vamp by Jaye Wells. I'm trying not to rush through it though because I'm afraid I won't find another character I love as much as Giguhl.

I really enjoyed that series. I was sad to see it end on one hand, but on the other I can't stand it when a series goes on and one only to ruin the greatness that it started out to be. I think that sometimes authors see a series doing well and keep it going too long (for the $ or for other reasons - doesn't really matter).

message 2131: by Susan (new)

now reading The Indigo Spell (Bloodlines, #3) by Richelle Mead which is much better!!

LilMisGrayBrisk Unfortunately, I am still reading Chasing Magic (Downside Ghosts, #5) by Stacia Kane . I don't really care for the plot, so it's been slow reading. Chess is also getting a bit out of control, IMO. I've always had a hard time with her drug use & I find it especially bad in this book.

That's too bad. I'm one of the ones who really loves this series, but I know that her writing style combined with Chess's drug abuse isn't for everyone.

Have you read the Iron Druid Chronicles by Kevin Hearne or Sandman Slim by Richard Kadrey? Iron Druid is similar to Dresden with action and humor. Sandman Slim is more dark and gritty with a noir vibe.
