There are already so many books in the Dresden series. I feel like I'll never be able to catch up. Maybe I should try to stick to a book each month or so, and that way it won't be so overwhelming. That means I'll get to the dog sometime this fall. : )

I've been doing a book a month of JD Robb's In Death series as a buddy read. We're the whole way up to book 7 of 30+. It may take us a few years, but it's probably the only way I'll get through the series.

It doesn't seem nearly so overwhelming now. : )

So far it just feels like the author is trying waay to hard to be funny. Ever get that feeling when it seems like they are trying to hard?

Comedy is *really* hard to write. Way more difficult than drama, imho.

I am about 4 chapters into Rosemary and Rue by Seanan McGuire
I am about 4 chapters into Rosemary and Rue by Seanan McGuire What I like thus far is:
The protagonist is for a change "older"
The story takes place in San Francisco.
What I don’t like up to now is that the story seems like a murder mystery with supernatural characters, like a lot of Urban Fantasy nowadays and I am getting tired of it.

I might deviate from the plan if I get sucked into the world of On the Edge by Ilona Andrews. Anyone else itching for the next installment of Kate Daniels? It might be time to re-read those.

I'm counting the days to Andrea's book. I just finished a "reread" of Kate Daniels by listening to them all on audio. I love the series.
I'm curious to hear how the Edge series compares. I've heard most people like it, but it's just not as good as Kate Daniels.

"I really liked The Night Circus and Ready Player One. Neither was quite what I was expecting, but they were both very good.
I really can't wait to get to those two, I'm excited from the reviews and excited about the 80's references since I grew up in the 80's :) I might try to read them at the same time but not sure how that will work out.

     Christine,
Christine, That's pretty smart. I haven't listened an audio book since those cassette tapes that came in the bulky VHS style package. So maybe that was a library find circa 1995.
Kristina,
I really liked Miss Peregrine's, the only defect was that kindle pictures/letter were hard to enjoy. The Night Circus is also on my Tbr list.
Happy reading.
I enjoy the pictures and love how they fit into the story. That's a bummer about the Kindle pictures. Yeah can't wait for The Night Circus. Thx and happy reading as well.

I never saw myself as an audiobook listener, but I've found it's a great way to do "rereads" of series I love and now I'm addicted. I have so little time to read and so many great books out there that when I get a moment to sit down and read, I want to read something new. But I've got time when I'm driving or when I'm doing certain tasks at work or at home that are perfect for listening to a book. Plus, since I've already read the book in print, it's not a big deal if I space out and miss a little of the audio. It's been a great refresher for some series. There are entire characters in the Kate Daniels series that I had forgotten about. Of course, when you get to the scenes that make you laugh out loud, you get some strange looks from the people around you....

. Thank goodness someone pointed me towards a blog post by the author summarizing events and characters of Divergent or I would be completely lost. She does very, very little recapping in Insurgent, but I think I've got it now.

The Edge series is pretty good but it does not hold a candle to the badassedness that is Kate Daniels and her Beast Lord :)

     Elisa,
Elisa,Kiss of Midnight was pretty good, but next book in this series Kiss of Crimson took me 6 mo. of picking it up and putting it down to finally complete it. Maybe it was just me. Also, my brain wants to put this series into the Paranormal Romance genre instead of Urban Fantasy. What I've read of the series is similar to what I've been told of the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. Rotating POV through the male vampires and love interests.

I always thought the Midnight Breed series is PNR. I wouldn't classify it as UF at all. I enjoy the series, but some books are better than others. The most recent one (#10) was actually great.

.Does anyone else feel the need to catch up on a series before starting a new one or re-reading a favorite from the beginning?
I like to revisit a series as a new one is coming out. I may read over the reviews I wrote or previous books, try one in audio. Sadly, I have SOOOOO many books I want to read, I very rarely get to re-read an old favorite.

I really wish I had the time to do a re-read, but with so many books to read I don't have the time.
