♥ Ashleigh ♥ Contrary to popular belief I'm not actually mad! (cheshire_red) @ Lynn,

im excited about the next mercy and A&O book as well (view spoiler)

Shadows kinda sounds like "I Am Number 4".

I didn't care too much for this first book in the series, but I liked the subsequent books much better. In book two she introduces a variety of other characters (witches, demons, vampires) who subsequently get their own books.

Wasn't that ending incredible?! I can't wait to see what happens next and how this reverberates in her Mercy Thomspon series. If only we didn't have to wait a year for the next book....

Ikr? D=

Timeless and #1 of the Dragonfire series are in my to-come-back-later pile. Wasn't in the right mood for them as well. Seems to be happening a lot lately. =(

Next on my list:
Grave Mercy (His Fair Assassin, #1) by R.L. LaFevers Blood of the Demon (Kara Gillian, #2) by Diana Rowland

I put it down after about 40 pages. I don't really like the first person present tense way it was written. It just feels weird. Plus, the story just didn't pull me in. Maybe I'll try it again later.

RIN ಠ_ಠ (wriggrin) | 60 comments Ooh, I look forward to hearing what you think of it. The reviews for Grave Mercy are mostly positive, but there are some who find it not quite to their liking as well.

Currently reading Unearthly (Unearthly, #1) by Cynthia Neely . I finally got my paperback wrapped nicely so I don't spoil the pretty cover or anything. /OCD It feels good to read from a physical book rather than ebook. <3

Hopefully I can get to Blood of the Demon (Kara Gillian, #2) by Diana Rowland after this.

♥ Ashleigh ♥ Contrary to popular belief I'm not actually mad! (cheshire_red) finished The Sweet Scent of Blood (Spellcrackers.com, #1) by Suzanne McLeod , was pretty good. rated it 3 stars.

Lol. I'm not sure why I was able to deal with such a long book. Generally, I don't have that kind of patience. But it kept my interest.

I was going to give it three stars, but then I realized that the author had taken a pair of characters whom I *hated* and turned them into people I really cared about. And like I said, the ending melted my heart. So, I relented and gave it four stars after all...

message 725: by Whitney (new)

Whitney (whitneychakara) | 188 comments Just finished Dead Until Dark (Sookie Stackhouse, #1) by Charlaine Harris I tried this book before but wasnt in the mood due to some of the racial stuff and sookies a bit annoying. But I decided to give it another try. I was still put off about sookie refearing to African Americans as THE BLACKS its about the same as say THE_______ to alot of my race and we find it very offensive. However I do know that it is the norm in alot of places in the world.

I dislike Bill I think he sucks eggs.

Love Sam he rocks my socks. And he is one of the only reasons that Im still reading the next two books. Im only buying the books in batches because the series is really long and I may not want to continue if I get to annoyed.

The ending was really fast although I was ready for it to be over I felt like they didnt wrap it up nicely that the writer was in a rush to end it and make it under 300 pages.

I will read the next two because I have them . Though Im not in any hurry.

:)

I read the first two books, maybe three in this series and finally put it aside. I know it is a very popular series but like you, I found Sookie a little too annoying.

I thought the TV show handled that a little better especially since Tara and Lafayette got their own story lines.

And I *totally* agree about Sam!! No one else understands my Sam addiction, so it's nice to meet someone else who likes him, too!!

I'm having a really hard time getting into this one. It's just not the writing I'm used to from Patricia Briggs. The story is finally starting to get interesting (I hope!), so maybe the rest of the book will go better. I've been getting off to rocking starts with my books lately.

It was interesting to read the introduction to the re-release where she talks about how she would have done things differently if she wrote it today, but she felt like she had to leave it (mostly) as is for the fans who read it and loved it the first time.

message 738: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 822 comments @ Christine - I am looking forward to Shadow's Fall. I really liked the first, the second not as much, but not as bad as some people talked about.

I am sure that a lot of author's want to re-vamp the whole book when they re-issue, but run into the issues you talked about.

message 739: by Christine (new)

Christine | 752 comments @Darcy - I know some people hated where she went in Shadowflame, and I was shocked that she did go there, but in a weird way it really worked for me. It added a whole different layer of real life to the book. Old emotions die hard and some times we make really, really dumb mistakes because of them. It blew me away.

Rebecca (Bec) | 14 comments Fifty Shades trilogy:
Okay my husband recommended a book to me last week after hearing about it on NOVA, a radio station here in melbourne Australia. I thought I would give it a go over the Easter weekend. Its not PNR but it is erotic, with a little BDSM (warning for those who may not be into reading stuff like that)

I dont normally read stuff that isnt PNR or UF but seeing that i love my hubby, thought i would give it a go. I loved it and think it is worth recommending:

Fifty Shades of Grey (Fifty Shades, #1) by E.L. James Fifty Shades Darker (Fifty Shades, #2) by E.L. James Fifty Shades Freed (Fifty Shades, #3) by E.L. James

I am currently halfway through Fifty Shades Freed, but i found it extremely difficult to put down this weekend and read the first two back to back.

Give it a go and let me know what you think!
