I just bought the new C.E. Murphy book about Joanne Walker book. Hubby goes to work and I read. Life is good.

I am reading the 2nd book of the Mortal Instrument series City of Ashes. For some reason I like it slightly less than the first book. Or maybe it is just because I read Beauty just before and that was soooo good.
Just finished Right Hand Magic and found it difficult to put down. Golgotham was an intriguing city and found the characters interesting and well developed. I'm not a fan of the dark/grim urban fantasy that seems to be so prevalent in urban fantasy so was delighted to find this entertaining UF title.Have already downloaded the second in the series and will start on that tonight.

Glad to see you liked it. Admittedly I liked the darkness of her earlier stuff, so I don't know if I'll like her fluffy side.

at Border's going-out-of-business sale. (So sad. I miss our store.) I tend toward the lighter UF as opposed to the dark/grim UF, so I'm looking forward to getting to this one.

Not sure what I feel like reading next, currently not in any 'genre phase' (as my recent reads are pretty all over the place)

Oh Niko - I do love him. Out of all my fictional crushes he'd be the best husband. The problem would be the brother in law....

Agreed! Besides, passive aggressively battling Cal sounds like a great hobby and I'm sure Niko would just love to protect me from his brother while I bait him.

And don't forget, we'd have Robin around to pick on, too!

LOL, you gotta love his devious brilliant mind ;P
I am reading City of Glass book 3 of an addicting series. The Mortal Instruments Boxed Set: City of Bones; City of Ashes; City of Glass
Right now I'm reading
and I like it well enough, but I'm just not wow'd by it. There are those books that I just can't stop thinking about after I've put them down and can't wait to get back to. But, not with this one - I have to work to remember what I'm reading each time I pick it back up. But, I couldn't say that I don't like it, I'm just not invested in it for some reason.
I'm reading
and am about half way. Really liking it. It's nice since I just went through Mercy Thompson and didn't really feel like leaving that world yet.

i finished
last night - had a few complaints about the ending but overall i really enjoyed it.started
this morning and while Cal is can be slightly annoying i completely agree with him when he says "if you can bitch about your monster half what can you bitch about?"lol.

I too need to take a break from Urban fantasy from time to time.

Maybe I should come back to it in a few months.

A bit like the people who turn off a TV program they don't like ... only for me it's books, not TV.
Just started
. These are usually nice little breaks from my immersion in urban fantasy and paranormal romance, but what's this? Eve investigating a mystery involving Wiccans? Witches and magic and maybe shape-shifting cats? Knowing Eve, I guess it will all have logical explanations in the end, but for now I'm loving it.

There are several other situations in the In Death series that are or border on paranormal ... one I particularly remember is her first meeting with Peabody's father.

I used to suffer from the 'had to finish' syndrome. Then my TBR monster got to over 500 books, ARGUH ! I started the 100 page test, it works for me. I open a book and read page 100, if I like the page I will start the book. If when I get to page 100 and it sucks I throw it to the curb. It really has shortened my TBR list and gives me a good look at the authors style without a huge commitment. I have not had any problem with spoilers doing this.Sharon wrote: "Marsha wrote: "I always feel guilty not finishing a book - I rarely give up. It's interesting to see how some of the characters in a book will continue on in the series. Jamie, from "Ceremony" is one of them.

You mean you can't keep 30+ books straight? I'm only on the fifth and already can't keep them straight. I haven't met Jamie yet. I'm hoping that at some point Peabody will have the hots for somebody who doesn't turn out to be one of the bad guys.

I might have to try it. :)
I want to try some JD Robb, but see previous comment about TBR monster...though I think a friend of mine is going to push them on me soon.
Currently taking a short break from UF and trying a new author to me
- we will see.
Christine wrote: "You mean you can't keep 30+ books straight? "Not really ... have trouble with most of them over 5 or 6 ... I'm doing good to remember the authors!
You'll meet Jamie in Ceremony and you're in for a treat with Peabody's love life, which is actually an ongoing theme for 2 or 3 books and drives Eve right up the wall!
Elisa wrote: "My TBR monster is scary and I am actually a little stressed about it(odd as that sounds). I might have to try it. :)"I've NEVER had a TBR of more than 4 or 5 books in my life until I got my Kindle. I sort of 'overdosed' on the free for Kindle lists and think I now have 50-some books on my TBR list. I've kind of backed off and gotten a little more selective ... not just everything that sounds 'kind of' interesting but trying to cut back.
I also got kind of 'overdosed' on DNFs as well, got tired of half a dozen DNFs in a row and then just one 'okay' ... so went back to re=reads from my personal bookshelves for awhile.
Incidentally, the In Death series are all there ... that's one of half a dozen series that I go back to often.
