Urban Fantasy discussion
What are you reading?
Reading Hunt at the Well of Eternity by Gabriel Hunt... or whichever author is using that name. It's... an adventure book. I don't know why I started reading it, but I did. It's probably not a series I'll keep with because it's just not my thing really. That's not to say it's bad, it's just nothing unique and catching.
At the moment I'm currently reading 8 books, the most recent addition is Taken By The Others. I think this might be the last of this series that I get.
I'm on three books atm..Day Watch by Sergei Lukyanenko, which i might drop since i don't like it as much as Night Watch..
Half the blood of Brooklyn by Charlie Huston, good book and good series, but Joe's whole attitude against the world can be a bit tiresome in the long run..
The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand, something a bit more substantial in contrast to all the UF i'm reading atm.. enjoying it so far (even though there is no magic)
I'm currently reading:
Reading non-fiction for fun isn't something I do too often, but the Elizabeth book is actually quite good so far. It's holding my interest, but I have to make sure I don't leave it alone too long, or I forget what's going on!
I also plan on starting in on Dead Reckoning soon, since my library has notified me that it's finally my turn in the holds list.
I have started Rampant. I read a short story by Diana Peterfreund in Zombies Vs. Unicorns and liked her killer unicorns universe. I'm hoping that the unicorns are merely misunderstood, gentle beings, but I know that the story is much more complicated.
Among Thieves
So far I'm enjoying it. I've been needing a Gentleman Bastard fix and this might just do the trick. It's not a caper story, but... it's about thieves! Somewhat.
Not Urban Fantasy but I just finished A Game of Thrones (which Game of Thrones the HBO show is based on) and started the second in the series. I believe there are 5 in the series so far...Great read; lots of characters but the plot is very interesting. The books are long, so you're in for the long haul.

. I have totally been drawn in by this series."ooh - I really enjoyed this series and I liked the way the series is concluded so I didn't have to wait for another book to come out.
I just started
and it's great so far. Lots of other books on my August TBR list for the two monthly challenges I'm in.
Hi at the moment I'm reading the Elemental Assassin series and currently reading the 2nd book Web of lies. This series is really different from any other series I read because as the title of the series says the main character is an assassin. I had my doubts when I tried it out but it got me hooked on in no time. for me its a 5 star series :)

Skin Deep is good. It reminded me of the tv show Alias with magic.
Right now I am reading
it is EXTREMELY different from anything I have ever read but so far VERY interesting. I came across the recommendation for this author off of fantasticfiction.com based off of other authors I was searching and so far I am not disappointed.

Ah, you jumped to the Laura Blackstone series before reading any Connor Grey?Makes some sense since I thought Laura Blackstone books were more appealing to women, with the thriller and a bit of bigger focus on romance.

Well - I bought Connor Grey first, but it just so happens I needed a character with a name that started with an "L" for an August reading challenge.
Currently reading: George Mann's, The Osiris Ritual and a Nero Wolf book. So far, so good on both books.
Finished
and then read
I started
a while ago and never finished so I'll knock that one out. Then I have one more book to read for my August Alphabet on Parade Challenge. I need a book with a character or author with a name beginning with X/Y/Z. Either
or
I really liked Skinwalker, but the 2nd book turned me off a bit on the series. Read Magic to the Bone, and didn't like it much but thought the series has potential so I'm going to give it another go soon.
Finished first book in Jane Yellowrock series:
I thought it was a good first book in a series. Moving on to book 2
lol will do. I am liking it so far. It took me the first few chapters to really get into it and now I am hooked. I love a good alpha male.
Just finished tangled treads by jennifer estep, the fourth book in the elemental assasin serie. It is about an assasin with elemental powers, an original plot which is why I choose to read this series.I really like the serie. But the books are getting a bit predictive by now. althouh I love the sentimental parts that are added in this book, the tough assasin that has diffculties dealing with her feelings. Too bad she has difficulties killing her main target too.

Finishing up Skeleton Crew by Cameron Haley. I've really enjoyed it so far, and looking forward to how he finishes it up.Then tonight I'll be reading the 3rd book in the Charlie Madigan series, which has become a favorite of mine, The Hour of Dust & Ashes by Kelly Gay

How was the Leslie Parrish series? I picked them up at my locals Border liquidation sale (along with a couple dozen other books).
Finished Skeleton Crew, it was a pretty cool read. Now reading The Hour of Dust and Ashes by Kelly Gay.
Christine wrote: "How was the Leslie Parrish series? I picked them up at my locals Border liquidation sale (along with a couple dozen other books)."I gave them both 4 stars because of the plot. The author does a good job writing an engaging storyline and the mysteries were interesting to me. In the first book, the main guy, Aidann is okay. I didn't fall in love with him the way I do with most PNR heroes. I actually liked the female lead better, which is unusual. In the second book I felt more of a connection with the characters, and the author also started developing more of the other characters who work in the Extrasensory Agency. Overall a solid series. Not a 5 star series, but an enjoyable and quick read.
