um...yo uare failing as my co-pilot! we have been to Freance, Italy, Russia, Nepal.....were you napping all this time?!?!?!? lol :)
Just thought I'd let you know that at the moment Sliding On The Snow Stone is free on Kindle at the moment. Has lots of good reviews. A story (but looks to be much more) set in Ukraine. Not read it but will download as it looks very interesting.
Well..Ian..if you then turn around and spend the 72p...it's no longer a savings! Lol. Still am considering tying you up to keep you off Amazon!
And my pc and my fingers........and anyway what's the point of a saving if you have no plan to spend it.....I mean we could put it towards a trip Stateside to see what Catherine looks like.
I'm trying to get over there! Trying to get my dual citizenship.....already a permanent resident...you'll not be getting rid of me anytime soon!Actually..was there 24/2-5/3! Where were you?
Think that must be a date of some kind, but you'll need to translate....24th of something in 2003?? Probably not.
Ok...don't you know your dates? 24/2 to 5/3. How do you get through life?!? Lol. And as I said I was just there...wouldn't you think perhaps, maybe..2012? LolIan..you are crazy!
Lol....need sleep? You're still crazy! And where were you? I was in Shaftesbury..didn't see you there in any of the pubs!
Ian. Point of order please sir. I am reading book specifically flash back to East Germany. Can we split Germans in this case? As always your word. Final word
Bob
Ian Reading An Ice-Cream War by Boyd which is set in what was German East Africa, the little map at the front of the book. From what I can make out the area is now Tanzania, Dar-es-salem being the starting point for the book. What do you think?
Hi EveryoneWhat a great idea ! ! 80 country's mm ,needs some thinking about I hope
we can include Cities?
I will get weaving
Ian, quick query... reading Dracula at the moment. Was thinking it would tick Romania off my list but am coming to accept that most of the action is in England apart from Harker's trip to the count's castle at the beginning. So am I stuck in the UK again or can I claim it as a brief visit to Transylvania?
If you are following the challenge rules as I set them out re main setting, then it is England. However it's up to you how strictly you stick to them as it's your own challenge and if you want to make it easier, than that's totally up to you.
Thanks Ian - I suspected as much, just seem to be messing up my choices at the moment...fortunately I'm enjoying the books I'm choosing even if not getting to travel too far!
Thanks Em - shall think on it...may hold it in reserve until I see how I progress and then give up and include it later!!!

Still wearing my hair shirt Em lol

hey..question...are Scotland and Wales being counted separately? if so...I have at least 1 covered :)
A challenge to my absolute power over the Around the world in 80 Books is just a challenge too far....so in defence of my megalomania I have had to tweak the rules ever so slightly so that yes all 4 countries within the UK can still be counted separately as well as the Channel Islands..................except for members called Catherine who live in New Jersey.
and as for the Scotland/Wales issue...I was only asking...I would have accepted a no...and left it at that...because...if you put UK...they are covered...
Scotland and Wales are separate countries!!!! Catherine wrote: "and as for the Scotland/Wales issue...I was only asking...I would have accepted a no...and left it at that...because...if you put UK...they are covered..."
I know that......they are also part of Great Britain....which encompasses them all! but the way Ian is being....so strict and all...he might not let it be that way...only including it as UK stop!
I'm sure that I saw on an old post in this thread that Ian let the home nations count individually but not east and west Germany. Anyway i've already done Wales and Scotland in my first six and plan already an Irish trip! Bon Voyage although according to the Plantagenets France should be part of England as well!!
Catherine wrote: "I know that......they are also part of Great Britain....which encompasses them all! but the way Ian is being....so strict and all...he might not let it be that way...only including it as UK stop!"northern ireland isnt in great britain
Andrew wrote: "I'm sure that I saw on an old post in this thread that Ian let the home nations count individually but not east and west Germany. Anyway i've already done Wales and Scotland in my first six and pla..."that's right!! Brittany, and Burgundy were English!!!

United Kingdom of England, Wales, Scotland AND Northern Ireland
Back to geography class Catherine.....Stephen is correct. You are confusing the United Kingdom in post 306 which includes Northern Ireland and Great Britain in post 301 which doesn't.
Ian...sorry..was having a moment there...brain was sleeping! lol :) I just wasn't thinking straight...too much work..not enough rest...
