I like being described as hot....that's a first - now where's my co-pilot's cap (probably with my northerner's flat cap and whippet somewhere). I'll have to borrow my mate's uniform as he actually is a pilot.
HELPPlease can the person or who remembers the web site where all the book series listed
Cant remember and will put on favorites
thanks
Bob

You could try Niels Lyhne byJens Peter Jacobsen - not my own taste but a Danish classic of some repute
Hi Nicola - I read The Library of Shadows by Mikkel Birkegaard for this challenge and have also enjoyed The Keeper of Lost Causes. The Library of Shadows is quite surreal - got more of a sense of the country from the second one.
I think we should all post here where we are up to at beginning 2012 on this threadI was at 29. New years day. 31. Now
As 2012. Any good Olympic books?
Mine is a slower trip as well...I'm not specifically looking for books to fit in...unless I come across something that interests me like Sky Burial: An Epic Love Story Of Tibet!!!(Thanks Sue!)I am reading my planned reading....getting some recommendations....doing the group reads in my other group, and listing the books in my challenge when I've visited a new country!
I'm with Shelli - more a case of fitting the books I read into a list if possible - my world trip stands at 30 but slowing down.
Me too - especially now I am more aware of novels set in UK thanks to that challenge. Think I may have to sign up for the US one here as I haven't read anything set there for ages. Finding series of books I like - especially the Scandi crime. But am still really enjoying reading about different countries.
The Keeper of Lost Causes for some reason is called Mercy in the UK, took me weeks to find this out.
If you need a stop off in Scotland, I've just noticed that Old Dogs by Donna Moore is only £2.64 at Amazon - crazy pricing for a great tree-book - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Old-Dogs-Donn... nigel
and good luck on your travels

Hi allI have started to trawl all the countries people have visited for new ideas
please accept apologies if not spoken before, or for sometime, and I jump on your screen asking for recommendations
Nice close knit group and as this challenge harder than first appeared need to all work together to get there in about 2020 at my rate!!
2020 is a bit optimistic for me!!! What with the UK challenge etc ........... Loving it though. Will have a look at The Rhythm Section as loved the tattoo series. Thanks.
IanCan I count The Artic, just read The Terror by Simmons, and not sure if this counts as a country or even a land mass.

i have
think will be mainly set in Arctic so interested to hear ruling on this one
Any suggestions!!!On holiday to Turkey at end of month
thought could cover country while there with easy to read poolside type book
Any thoughts anyone?
Of course if read anything in Turkey would that count Ian
I might suggest 'Midnight Express', the harrowing true story of a young American imprisoned in a Turkish jail for drug-smuggling in the '70s, but it might put you off going to Turkey in the first place! It would certainly make you check your packing several times before you went through customs...
I've never read the book, and probably never will, the movie was so powerful. It's one of my top ten movies to watch, but only when I'm feeling strong!
Sanctus by
. My review as follows: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/.... Enjoy the pool Bob and no drug smuggling lol.

I may be reading Murder on the Orient Express next month.Has anyone included this one yet, and what country did you pick?
All I know is that the train leaves Constantinople, and the murder occurs somewhere in Croatia.

have we got to 80 countries yet between us yet?"
Almost certainly Bob but I'm not going to check.

I'm afraid not Hannah. Best way to start might be to have a look at other peoples lists to get ideas of where to go and what books to read.

Feel free to backdate away Catherine and rest assured that your co-pilot is always at the controls, if not always appropriately dressed.
