This "author" needs help

The few search results I can come up with, just seem to copy the same info from Amazon.

And I'm starting to feel like that second one snuck in from an alternate universe.....

Again, all I can seem to find is carbon copies of the amazon info.

I am also having trouble with the following listed under "McDonald":
http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/17...
And I got the other as well. A general tip: try searching Google Books by title when ISBN doesn't do the trick. Sometimes there are other editions, or listings without ISBN.

I really do try everything I can before pestering the other librarians, I promise!

And Richard A.Johnson needs cleaning and combining as does Richard Johnson.

Dr. Richard Johnson
FYI, at some point Dr. Johnson needs to lose his title. I didn't want to mess with whatever you're doing, so I left it alone for now.

1. On the Johnsons -----Yeh - I know, I'm not at all happy with the Johnsons:( But until I knew what I would end up with I needed to have some handle on who was who. The multiple spaces gets real confusing after a while I think I have toooooooo many to simply use spaces. When I get them all finally separated maybe we can put our heads together and come up with a good final fix. I've tried to put at least something in each of their bio to differentiate them as well.
2. Now about G.K. Chesterton. I have separated and recombined as best as I can do. I don't think I will ever read a "Father Brown" story after this. What I have found is that even books with the same title are no where near the same book. If you go look at him - you will see that I started putting the number of tales in each title and listed the name of the tales in each in the description. The ones without that information I was unable to determine the exact contents, but after finding that what is in one "Father Brown Book" is not in the other "Father Brown Book", I can't in good conscience combine them simple because they have the identical name.
Also I've done all I can with the foreign editions.
So take a look would you and tell me how you want me to proceed with them.
Thanks!

There is also one quote attributed to George Bush. I'm not sure which president was to have said it.
Thanks!

Is Siddharta Guatama an actual author, or is this confusion with the Hermann Hesse book Siddhartha?

It looks like Charles Dickens needs a lot of work, but specifically A Christmas Carol and Other Christmas Writings is combined with books containing Christmas stories by several different authors, like this one containing O. Henry's Gift of the Magi: A Christmas Carol and Other Favorites: A Christmas Carol, the Gift of the Magi , Dick Spindler's Family Christmas. Someone with more clarity of thought than I needs to separate out the 4 or 5 books that don't belong.

For example, at this point the two books attributed to Q are probably correct, that appears to be the pseudonym of the author.

Edit: I stopped doing that until I get a yes or no, but now I'm wondering how to prevent all the editions of "A Christmas Carol and Other Stories" that contain different other stories from being automatically combined. Oh man, I hate it when I get caught up in classic authors.

2. Change the name in some way that will fool the auto-combine issue and hopefully make it obvious to users that they shouldn't be combined (good luck with this, by the way :-)

And a whole series of the one name authors...
Arrgghhhhh

Is Siddharta Guatama an actual author, or is this confusion with the Hermann Hesse book Siddhartha?"
(Prince) Siddhartha Guatama was the name of Buddha before he reached enlightenment and became Buddha.

Strangely, the source for those was "amazon.fr" which, in fact, refer the author as being Coe Jonathan.
Yack!

Kinley mcgregor

Kinley McGregor
McGregor, Kinley
mcgregor, Kinley
Mcgregor, Kinley ect
all are different authors even though her name is spelled correctly. I seriously doubt that they ever realy check or validate any of the information.

how do we want to handle single author names which are correct? Should they be put in their own category or left off the list?
Definitely not the second. They tend to accumulate other books that do not belong to the genuine one-name author. Instead, I vote for making a note in the author bio, preferably giving some idea of what books are really theirs. And maybe a similar note on the list. Or put them on separately, as you suggested.

And great work, vitalinew! I locked and stickied the thread; let me know if you need me to do anything else to it.
That means someone cleaned up all the books but forgot (or didn't know) to get rid of the author. Happens all the time.

I'll let you know when Johnson is ready to enter into it.
Note on Morgan: about 10 books are correct with Morgan as a one-name illustrator. The rest are not (mostly the ones where Morgan is listed as the only author.)

Thanks to everyone for your help. I'm happy to make GR better and to be with people who care about the same things.
Looks like some, but NOT all, of Kenneth Morgan's works are really Kenneth O. Morgan's. If anyone wants to sort through them, more power to ya! ;)

I was working on the single-name authors, specifcally Adams. Apparently there is a poet who writes under the pseudonym "ADAMS" (all caps). However, I found the following during my googling for a first name.
Paula Adams Tennant, who writes under the name ADAMS, lives in Northern California. She served in the Navy during World War II and studied law after the war. She held various positions as a prosecutor and in 1970 was appointed to the U.S. Board of Parole. In 1983 she was appointed to the U.S. Parole Commission. She is a resident of northern California.
Tennant's published poetry include: Passion of Creation, The Two Headed God, Moon of Reflection, Sheaves of Silence, and Conversations with Keith all published by Lost Coast Press (Fort Bragg, California). [Source (of biographical information): Guide to the "A Few Good Women" Oral History Collection, 1938-2000, Penn State University Archives, Special Collections Library, Pennsylvania State University]
Should I leave the author as ADAMS, or put in her full name?
